    for speedrunning:
    cons:
-the joystick isn't nearly as precise as the oem.
-the joystick is soft but slippery and its convex face makes it slip-prone.
-the buttons have a lot of travel compared to an oem and make it harder to mash quickly.
-the gate for the joystick on the shell is an octagonal-spiderweb shape making any angles in between really suck.
    pros:
    -its cheap
-it works out of the box
-it has a pretty long cable

I HAVE THIS, and I never use it. The analog stick is WAY TOO SENSATIVE. Can't play Mario 64, not if I want to walk or tip-toe. It's like any tilt more than 2mm and it's FULL BLAST. I had emailed them years ago about it, and they said the sensitivity can't be adjusted... unless they made a new update. I have two of these that are worthless to me now.

I bought 3 of these before the price shot up (slight $5 us increase since release.) games like Starfox, Smash Bros, Goldeneye, Banjo Kazooie, and Mario 64 the analog controls are incredibly tight (almost too tight in driving games and tends to over steer issues being designed for the og controllers shortcomings but easy to get used to in majority of games.)

The original n64 controller works just fine

The market has decided that the N64 controller is awkward and inferior, otherwise we’d have a variation of it with other systems.
Does it work? Sure. Is the more standard style of controller superior? Yes, the market has spoken.

@@Joe-hz1nw does the original controller have an overly sensitive analog gate that's also mishaped and makes small inputs difficult/impossible? no. does the original have higher button travel which can make fast, repeated button inputs difficult/impossible? no.
does the brawler 64 have those things? yes, the market has chosen to follow glowing, sponsored reviews, without thinking/looking into it for themselves.

@@TheInfamousLegend27 forgive me, I’ve never owned this specific controller, I was speaking of other, older models (not the same brand) set up like modern controllers.
I was speaking to the controllers more modern layout. In summary, I was wrong, you were right about this specific controller.

@@Joe-hz1nw fair enough !! my bad going in so hard and playing off what you said haha
i do appreciate the fact that modern controllers being standardised is great and it's a comfortable, universal layout. honestly if you look at when it first came out and the fact it was the first of it's kind, the n64 controller in context was great for the time. it's not even my generation of console, but i must admit it's a decent controller (in good condition)

I don't think this controller has many fans, unless they've revised the analog handling. I'm thinking they didn't, because if they redid it, it'd probably have hall effect analog like their other modern designs. The experience was so bad that I'm having trouble deciding if this is a troll video or not, but I'll feed it with a comment anyway.

Nate another solid video well done! If you like the n64 brawler you should definitely get you a retro fighters defender bluetooth edition. It supports ps3 sixaxis so check it out if you havent yet!!

This controller rules, I have the wireless version and use it all the time. I don't know if I can go back to the original one after all this time.

the wiiU era smash gamecube controllers are cheap and pretty close

The N64 controller had drift? I've never experienced that with my N64 or any of my controllers. Maybe your definition of drift is different from mine. Sorry, but I'm just a little confused. The controllers did become loose and wobbly if not cared for properly, but when I plug my original grey N64 controller into the console I have right here, Mario stands still and does not move. Drift is typically a problem with more modern controllers, where the character starts moving on their own on screen because the analog stick cannot stay at absolute zero on its axes.

you're right! the n64 stick is more like a ball mouse in it's functionality, whereas modern sticks are potentiometer-based

    sorry bro
the original hardware/controller is the entire point of the ritual lol
i would rather spend $120 and roll the dice on two japanese original controllers via international mail than use any 3rd party dumpsterfire nonsense

      @jonniefast 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

for other systems its mostly ok and you can get away with it
      but the n64 is CURSED
ZERO good 3rd party controllers were ever made even during its life-cycle 😂
