I just want to get this off my chest. This expansion sucks. I wish it didn't, I wish it was a worthy addition to SWTOR, but it isn't. I appreciate the new art, most of it anyway. Empire player: We were on Manaan for the Kolto, okay, makes sense, we seem to be the losing side, despite our victories. So attacking a vital resource not just for us, but the enemy as well, seems like a strategic move, one might wonder why we never tried this before (with the exception of the first great war). Having a moral split between soldiers and Sith on the matter of Kolto acquisition had potential, but doesn't really go deeper than surface level and if you're Sith you likely arrest or kill the Colonel, if you're not Sith or lightside, you'll likely side with the Colonel. At the end, it doesn't seem to matter outside of a mail or two. For instance, I sided with the Sith and had the Colonel arrested, the Sith wanted to conquer Manaan, despite Imperial leadership doubting they had the numbers and resources to control the planet, I don't know the fate of Manaan after leaving, did we win? Did we get control of the Kolto? Do we control the planet? I get that it is assumed simply because you are playing a certain faction and cannot 'lose', but a definitive 'yes' and additional context would have been nice. I am so done with 'chasing' Malgus, for more than a year. We only got a few flashpoints stories worth of the narrative and after the expansion, I STILL do not know what he was planning. We went to a world, we don't know why he went there, we don't know what he did there and we don't know why it mattered. For a game that is apparently all about it's story they didn't really tell much of one this time around. And as people have already noted: IT IS TOO SHORT. Quality: It should be noted that the overall quality seems to have gone down, a few examples: - Animation of starships seemed off, they might move incredibly fast while making a sharp turn in a cutscene, which doesn't look right (I know it's space, but we've never really seen ships do that, also flying in Star Wars is treated as if it is always in an thick atmosphere, like Earth's, even if in Space). - Camera work is also off, several scenes were not done as professionally in other expansions, even just patch flashpoints. For instance, I believe 'Echoes of the Enclave' had superior camera work, just with the camera work alone you could tell there was more mystery, drama and intensity, but here, almost entirely, it seems dull and uninspired even though an invasion was going on. - Some models look odd in my opinion. The new Selkath model looked out of place (please note I find the playable Nautolan race to look REALLY bad, as if they are oversized or were stung by a bee and had a reaction. Not to mention they are WAY too shiny.) So you might like it, but notice how it looks when the other Selkath NPCs are in scene, they are taller and use the existing Selkath models that have been in the game since launch and were updated with new skins in Shadow of Revan and in my opinion, look better proportioned and scaled. The armour that the new Selkath NPC uses, looks interesting, but in the scenes that are darkened, it looks too bright also the belt contorts and twists when the character walks (This is an issue ingame, but odd the devs didn't think about how it would look in these instances) These are just some of the things I notice, please add more if you noticed anything else. I wish they would allow a small group of players to play test the newest content as they are making it, so critical feedback can be given. I know it's a smaller developer but it's crazy that with this IP, quality like this is allowed.
Very well said, i felt like this was literally just a patch and not an expansion. I am also sick of having to deal with Valkorion or Malgus it's like BW doesn't know anymore villains. Darth Jadus should've returned imo would've been something good. I just never gave a damn about Manaan
@@Cipher_Nine I hate fighting Malgus in general! I like that chracter, which is far more complex than most of ppl think. They've done a good work with him and as an Empire player, is more of a Sith than most of those idiots in the Dark Council!

Well they as the studio did that cause it would take resources for different cutscenes for different classes and non force users can't use force so they go the wuss way of using multiple people even though we know hero of tython, emperor's wrath and Darth nox alone are stronger than malgus.
I had a nurse friend who talked about how it took 8 security guys at the hospital to restrain a dementia patient who was a Vietnam vet. Considering how old Malgus is at this point, that's probably a good comparison here
It feels kind of weird that Malgus required everyone to hold him down despite our character essentially growing to a point that should have been beyond Malgus

But cannon wise, we never fought alone outsdie of fight with Arcann. We fought Malgus with party of other players, we defeated Valkorion with Revan and Meetra Surik and thousands of other souls. Sure we are powerful, but even now we didin't fight 1vs1 with Malgus, you had help of Lana and the other dude.
Honestly feel like Malgus should get stuck in Carbonite and then Disney makes the decision to make SWTOR canon (with tweaks to make it fit in canon) where Malgus would be bought back in a later movie.

He is, he rightfully hated the previous dark council for doing power moves and being only in leadership positions for their own agenda, Malgus was an actual patriotic leader. The new dark council is better, Acina is a very leader unlike Vitiate, but I guess Malgus still has a bitter taste, I don't blame him.

So, I'm a month late but here we go: I love the symbolism of this fight. Whether its intentional or not on Bioware's part, its insanely satisfying to me. Ik there's plenty of good complaints but this part of the story intrigues me. Malgus is, in many ways, similar to the Banite Sith. Its almost like this is a fight for the old Sith Order and Empire to restrain the Banite Sith, preventing their rise to prominence.
you also kind of feel bad for him, he was just hated by everyone, the Jedi, the Sith, everyone. The only person that did not hate him was his wife, they were together until Corasunt and that was because other sith were mocking him and calling him "weak" because he had a wife, and he believed it and so he killed her to fuel his anger but in the end that anger turned into hatred for the sith by trying to create his "New Empire" and even himself for killing his wife for selfish reasons
I do not hate Malgus. He is one of the best starwars character ever made. I wanted to side with him since "False Emperor" Flashpoint. With friends, we even made a Guild that was purely Malgus oriented.
We can clearly see how powerful Darth Malgus was, it took almost 15 Dark lord of the Sith to restrain and arrest him. How many jedi would take to restrain him too?🤔🤔
And that is strange, we alone should restrain him. We take down Immortal Emperor and his children who are much more powerful than Malgus and yet I still feel like random sith who just finished sith academy.
@@ThePunkers20 It really doesn't matter it all depends on the force of it wills it then it wills it. not only that but Malgus is growing stronger connection with the force. also you should consider palpatine and Vader two of the most powerful sith praised Darth malguses example of a true Sith it is obvious Malgus were far more appealing to the sith code than the others, that guy literally defines sith. while yes our main character defeated the Immortal Emperor you have to take note that you never defeated him alone and you always rely on your companion. the class story is where it explains how powerful the wraith and outlander is. Even before you fought the emperor Malgus made you kneel to him while using force lightning so it is obvious he is holding back the man is peak power.
@@usonlyus7148 1) Palps and Vader lived thousands of years later and were from the Bane's line. They had nearly 0 chances to have any trustworthy information about this time period; 2) Sith code is just a code, "appealing" to it don't give you any real power. Also our Empire sith characters in canon supposed to be Darkside, so we're as "appealing" as Malgus; 3) You actually had no need to rely on your companion to defeat Malgus; 4) All of us know that the main reason of this scene isn't in lore at all. It was just another cheap-ass "lets create one cut-scene for all classes". There is nothing deep.
That would be interesting to see. Sadly it will most likely not happen considering how much Disney hates SWTOR. In reality, Malgus would wipe both kylo and Rey out easily and continue constructing his new empire.

It's ridiculous that they needed that many people though. Malgus is hella strong, but it feels like everyone else is just a Sith Lord in title only and turn into weak fodder in every other instance.

Before Bane, Sith were just weaker and weaker because of the fact one master oftenly took multiple apprentices, that in turn would league to kill the master and hte strongest apprentice, though weaker than the master, take his place. Except some specific individuals, Sith are indeed not so powerful during Old Republic :/
@@RaevenKS Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not disputing that. I believe Banite Sith are much more powerful than the fodder that show up in this game. I've noticed that the Rule of Two is often laughed at as stupid by some Old Republic fans, but the results can't be denied. Still, I'm just concerned that it took so many people to restrain Malgus here. The player character is always constantly praised for their Force ability, and there are other Sith Lords there, and yet all of them were struggling. It's irritating when "feats" like this one are praised, especially as a testament to Malgus' strength, when all it does is make other Force users look pathetic in comparison. It feels like the game wanted us to squeal over how powerful Malgus is in this moment, but it doesn't work because everyone looks like fodder with individually weak Force power that have to choose quantity over quality.
This seems unlikely, very few sith in the galaxy could rival Malgus in terms of power, the man had a sharp mind as well so him getting captured doesn't work.
except this is the commander of the alliance (arguably the strongest force user outside of arcann or vaylin), the empress and most of the dark council and htey still seem to barely be able to hold him (if anything it feels like there was too much effort to capture him i mean the player character alone should be able to 1v1 him)

This worked better if you sided with the reps tbh. The jedi are more likely to actually keep him alive and the fact that, instead of that second bit empress, the one who shows up in the end is Sateele.

I have generally other issue with whole Malgus story - why the hell he is doing this? Under Acina or Vowrawn leadership, Sith Empire moving right in to state he wanted in his New Empire, so why this his adventure?
Actually no, it is not. The original reason he rebelled was because he was pissed the the SIth Empire was no longer acting like the Sith of old, and the breaking point for him was the Treaty of Coruscant. And when I say the Sith of old, I mean the True Sith Empire as it was before the time of even the war that sets up the main game. The Sith cult led by Vitiate that believed in murder and conquest for the sake of murder and conquest. The Sith that looked at acts like Darth Malak's bombardment of Taris or Nihilus' consumption of worlds, great and horrific acts of genocide and destruction, and would just think it was an average Tuesday. War was their life, and their most common tactics were war crimes and mass genocide. That's the Sith Empire that Malgus was taught that he came from, the one he believes in, and the one that he realized didn't exist anymore. So he rebelled. For the most part, people don't seem to know the lore behind the character or the True Sith. They only look at Malgus in the original Ilum patch and think he's better than the other Sith on the surface because he wants to get rid of the bureaucracy and the in-fighting, and is willing to not be a racist. He's not better than the current Sith. In fact, he's far worse, and far more dedicated to the Dark Side of the Force. That's why he's such a powerful threat in the game, why it takes so many Sith to hold him down. It's not that he's absurdly powerful, it's that the other Sith around him are weak. Malgus is comparable in power and dedication to the Dark Side to Darth Bane, and the order that he works against is comparable to that of Khan's Brotherhood of Darkness.
@@MotleyNerd a good comparison, consider that Bane was as stupid and mentally weak as Malgus... Also all of us know that real reason of "capturing together" was in saving money on cut-scenes (again), not in someone's weakness.
Did you deal with a annoying bug when trying to finish this mission in bringing Malgus in to custody? I can't seem to finish my, it keeps telling me it needs room on Mission slots but there already is. Wants me abandon sufficent missions I already have.
@@Cipher_Nine I may yet have to and can only hope that works. It's just very frustrating when you encounter these bugs that are extremely vague to figure out. It's something else when you share the same angry scream as Malgus at the end when the bug appears 😅

Can i just say its kinda bad ass and a known fact that if it takesmany dark council members and sith including the empress and the main player to litrally stop 1 sith the person they take down means serious business

This game is getting very close to the next major Legends story arc that is not related to this game's story. I don't know how BioWare is trying to say they're going to keep the game's story going at this point. Bring no one back and end it before it starts messing with Legends lore.
ok so lets review the expansion.... manaan was absolutely terrible and just a large space filled with mobs that i basicly did my best to avoid to get it over with as fast as possible than there was this flashpoint where it was basicly the same thing but the game forced me to kill all the useless mobs so it was just a chore to do and the fucking cliffside grapple section was cancer .... than you get to actually fight malgus and he has an attack that if youre unlucky hits for like 80k or a third of your health bar and youre fucked .... point is i managed to kill him after a few tries and that was that ...... 2 hours of wasted time for 5 missions worth of stories .... good job guys
I kind of enjoyed the Malgus fight it was just getting the mechanics down for me. The first boss was the real pain as a healer due to the consistent bleed dot on everyone that nobody could cleanse. For Malgus When he does his mad dash you can go the circle edge and stand on the white area which is out of his reach try to keep your back to a pillar to avoid getting pushed into the barrier. When he shoots lightning everyone not being targeted needs to get behind him to avoid it as hell hit anything in front of him usually. If you're doing it solo probably just need to deal with getting hit by hit. Aside from that he force pulls the tank or whoever has aggro if they get to far away and leaves aoes on the ground. He builds up stacks of cataclysm when he hits people with his various abilities at 12 stacks he targets everyone and nukes them. Happens every time at 12 stacks. Prepare a DCD when it reaches 12 stacks. That said the cliffside grapple section was absolutely awful when I did it in a group since the AOE's target each person individually and the entire area is nothing but red circles of destruction.
He'll be out by next story patch. At worst by the end of this 'expansion' Honestly if it wasn't treading old (and fairly epic though) ground, all these Sith teaming up SHOULD just kill him together.
That Holocron may be the one used by the Sith to locate the force sensitives which the Jedi rejected. The force user who acquires it looks like Sahar, who lost it to Malgus when she was a Jedi padawan, and probably wants the holocron to find her brother.
Expansion... 'E x p a n s i o n' About six missions, most of which make zero sense, only to go straight to Malgus, whoop his sorry ass and then jail him? THEN LEAD UP TO ANOTHER EXPANSION? 40 bucks... or depending on the price, 30 for a sub... wtf was this whole thing. 2.5/10 Only good part, was continuing my attempted romance with Anri and getting a kiss. That's it.
He will return he is eternal; he is the definition of poggers. He isn't dead he still is in the force his spirit is roaming around. Because he got defeated in her mind means nothing because his spirit exists in the force it is impossible to strip someone that powerfuls connection to the force, defeated people have ascended into the force and he could do so to. He could take over bodys with essence transfer like Palpatine did or he could go to the world between worlds, nothing is ever gone forever. His ghost I am positive lives on and is just waiting to strike back, but he will meet his end someday it is inevitable. Remember this is inside Satele Shans mind she only destroyed his presence inside of her head. It is just a projection of his presence. He will be back soon you can’t beat a god and his spirit can just pass through the "ashes" lol you can see in the air some suspicious circular smoke Emanate from his ashes. VERY SUSSY, also Acina is too weak of a force user to lead the empire and vitiate was a MASTER of motivating people and finesse.
If you read this I care about you enough to tell you that you have sinned against a Holy God and because of that you are under condemnation and will endure God’s wraith if you do not come to know and believe in His son Jesus Christ who died on the cross so the door to have your sins forgiven could be open and you receive salvation as a free gift if you reject Him you will suffer for all eternity turn from your sinful ways and live a life that is appealing to the Lord and brings Him Glory you don’t have all the time in the world tomorrow is not guaranteed

Look like BW hate Malgus and think all the players hate him ... I wish i could've join him first in Illum, and they forced me to fight him, now that .... for a game with "choice" it really suck. Damm BW just kill him if you hate him but stop force us to fight him
Yeah. I don't know if the writers are the same. But the guys who did the Imperial Agent did a very good job giving the player freedom of decisions despite being brainwashed, how ironic.

So, I'm a month late but here we go:
I love the symbolism of this fight. Whether its intentional or not on Bioware's part, its insanely satisfying to me. Ik there's plenty of good complaints but this part of the story intrigues me. Malgus is, in many ways, similar to the Banite Sith. Its almost like this is a fight for the old Sith Order and Empire to restrain the Banite Sith, preventing their rise to prominence.
you also kind of feel bad for him, he was just hated by everyone, the Jedi, the Sith, everyone. The only person that did not hate him was his wife, they were together until Corasunt and that was because other sith were mocking him and calling him "weak" because he had a wife, and he believed it and so he killed her to fuel his anger but in the end that anger turned into hatred for the sith by trying to create his "New Empire" and even himself for killing his wife for selfish reasons
I do not hate Malgus. He is one of the best starwars character ever made.
I wanted to side with him since "False Emperor" Flashpoint.
With friends, we even made a Guild that was purely Malgus oriented.
We can clearly see how powerful Darth Malgus was, it took almost 15 Dark lord of the Sith to restrain and arrest him. How many jedi would take to restrain him too?🤔🤔
And that is strange, we alone should restrain him. We take down Immortal Emperor and his children who are much more powerful than Malgus and yet I still feel like random sith who just finished sith academy.

also you should consider palpatine and Vader two of the most powerful sith praised Darth malguses example of a true Sith it is obvious Malgus were far more appealing to the sith code than the others, that guy literally defines sith.
while yes our main character defeated the Immortal Emperor you have to take note that you never defeated him alone and you always rely on your companion.
the class story is where it explains how powerful the wraith and outlander is.
Even before you fought the emperor Malgus made you kneel to him while using force lightning so it is obvious he is holding back the man is peak power.
@@usonlyus7148 1) Palps and Vader lived thousands of years later and were from the Bane's line. They had nearly 0 chances to have any trustworthy information about this time period;
2) Sith code is just a code, "appealing" to it don't give you any real power. Also our Empire sith characters in canon supposed to be Darkside, so we're as "appealing" as Malgus;
3) You actually had no need to rely on your companion to defeat Malgus;
4) All of us know that the main reason of this scene isn't in lore at all. It was just another cheap-ass "lets create one cut-scene for all classes". There is nothing deep.

It's ridiculous that they needed that many people though. Malgus is hella strong, but it feels like everyone else is just a Sith Lord in title only and turn into weak fodder in every other instance.

Before Bane, Sith were just weaker and weaker because of the fact one master oftenly took multiple apprentices, that in turn would league to kill the master and hte strongest apprentice, though weaker than the master, take his place.
Except some specific individuals, Sith are indeed not so powerful during Old Republic :/
@@RaevenKS Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not disputing that. I believe Banite Sith are much more powerful than the fodder that show up in this game. I've noticed that the Rule of Two is often laughed at as stupid by some Old Republic fans, but the results can't be denied.
Still, I'm just concerned that it took so many people to restrain Malgus here. The player character is always constantly praised for their Force ability, and there are other Sith Lords there, and yet all of them were struggling. It's irritating when "feats" like this one are praised, especially as a testament to Malgus' strength, when all it does is make other Force users look pathetic in comparison. It feels like the game wanted us to squeal over how powerful Malgus is in this moment, but it doesn't work because everyone looks like fodder with individually weak Force power that have to choose quantity over quality.
Would be pretty cool if in the next story content update you break free Malgus and he joins you but you are now enemies with the empire.
This seems unlikely, very few sith in the galaxy could rival Malgus in terms of power, the man had a sharp mind as well so him getting captured doesn't work.
except this is the commander of the alliance (arguably the strongest force user outside of arcann or vaylin), the empress and most of the dark council and htey still seem to barely be able to hold him (if anything it feels like there was too much effort to capture him i mean the player character alone should be able to 1v1 him)

I have generally other issue with whole Malgus story - why the hell he is doing this? Under Acina or Vowrawn leadership, Sith Empire moving right in to state he wanted in his New Empire, so why this his adventure?
Actually no, it is not. The original reason he rebelled was because he was pissed the the SIth Empire was no longer acting like the Sith of old, and the breaking point for him was the Treaty of Coruscant.
And when I say the Sith of old, I mean the True Sith Empire as it was before the time of even the war that sets up the main game. The Sith cult led by Vitiate that believed in murder and conquest for the sake of murder and conquest. The Sith that looked at acts like Darth Malak's bombardment of Taris or Nihilus' consumption of worlds, great and horrific acts of genocide and destruction, and would just think it was an average Tuesday. War was their life, and their most common tactics were war crimes and mass genocide. That's the Sith Empire that Malgus was taught that he came from, the one he believes in, and the one that he realized didn't exist anymore. So he rebelled.
For the most part, people don't seem to know the lore behind the character or the True Sith. They only look at Malgus in the original Ilum patch and think he's better than the other Sith on the surface because he wants to get rid of the bureaucracy and the in-fighting, and is willing to not be a racist. He's not better than the current Sith. In fact, he's far worse, and far more dedicated to the Dark Side of the Force. That's why he's such a powerful threat in the game, why it takes so many Sith to hold him down. It's not that he's absurdly powerful, it's that the other Sith around him are weak. Malgus is comparable in power and dedication to the Dark Side to Darth Bane, and the order that he works against is comparable to that of Khan's Brotherhood of Darkness.

Did you deal with a annoying bug when trying to finish this mission in bringing Malgus in to custody? I can't seem to finish my, it keeps telling me it needs room on Mission slots but there already is. Wants me abandon sufficent missions I already have.
No, but try to finish those missions and try again. Trial and error always works

This game is getting very close to the next major Legends story arc that is not related to this game's story. I don't know how BioWare is trying to say they're going to keep the game's story going at this point. Bring no one back and end it before it starts messing with Legends lore.
They should honestly start bringing the storyline towards the end of the war imo

ok so lets review the expansion.... manaan was absolutely terrible and just a large space filled with mobs that i basicly did my best to avoid to get it over with as fast as possible than there was this flashpoint where it was basicly the same thing but the game forced me to kill all the useless mobs so it was just a chore to do and the fucking cliffside grapple section was cancer .... than you get to actually fight malgus and he has an attack that if youre unlucky hits for like 80k or a third of your health bar and youre fucked .... point is i managed to kill him after a few tries and that was that ......
2 hours of wasted time for 5 missions worth of stories ....

I kind of enjoyed the Malgus fight it was just getting the mechanics down for me. The first boss was the real pain as a healer due to the consistent bleed dot on everyone that nobody could cleanse.
For Malgus When he does his mad dash you can go the circle edge and stand on the white area which is out of his reach try to keep your back to a pillar to avoid getting pushed into the barrier.
When he shoots lightning everyone not being targeted needs to get behind him to avoid it as hell hit anything in front of him usually.
If you're doing it solo probably just need to deal with getting hit by hit.
Aside from that he force pulls the tank or whoever has aggro if they get to far away and leaves aoes on the ground.
He builds up stacks of cataclysm when he hits people with his various abilities at 12 stacks he targets everyone and nukes them. Happens every time at 12 stacks. Prepare a DCD when it reaches 12 stacks.
That said the cliffside grapple section was absolutely awful when I did it in a group since the AOE's target each person individually and the entire area is nothing but red circles of destruction.
I defeated malgus without dying.... even tho it was close he still didnt kill me one time, pathetic poor malgus

He will return he is eternal; he is the definition of poggers. He isn't dead he still is in the force his spirit is roaming around. Because he got defeated in her mind means nothing because his spirit exists in the force it is impossible to strip someone that powerfuls connection to the force, defeated people have ascended into the force and he could do so to. He could take over bodys with essence transfer like Palpatine did or he could go to the world between worlds, nothing is ever gone forever. His ghost I am positive lives on and is just waiting to strike back, but he will meet his end someday it is inevitable. Remember this is inside Satele Shans mind she only destroyed his presence inside of her head. It is just a projection of his presence. He will be back soon you can’t beat a god and his spirit can just pass through the "ashes" lol you can see in the air some suspicious circular smoke Emanate from his ashes. VERY SUSSY, also Acina is too weak of a force user to lead the empire and vitiate was a MASTER of motivating people and finesse.
