I am so happy to update that I got a license yesterday 😍. My 1st attempted was terrible ( I guess the examiner was too hard on me when gave me 69% results). The only thing I did wrong is to not stick my trash bag good enough so the bag was felled on the floor. Other than that I did everything exactly like on your video. I took an exam at the different location, I brought 2 strong clamps with me to make sure my trash bag is attached strong on the table. I done the test the same in your video and got 94% scores. Thank you for your amazing and very detailed video! It’s very helpful! Thank you for your well done work! ❤️

    Hey Glam And Beyond,
I just wanted to leave a comment to say thank you ! I passed with a 80% . So I went to Austin to take my test , I didn't know what to expect I was excited and ready to get it over with and nervous. I was doing good and felt relaxed then... they was standing next to me looking at my work etc. I lost 3 points on blood exposure but that was my fault . I was setting my table up without putting gloves on first but of course I had them on before my client (hand). I still don't know how I lost 2 points on tip application. I lost 5 points on the form part as well and I think that's because I was repeating a step because my nail didn't feel smooth and even so I was trying to over correct it. I earned all points on the other part. Anyways thanks again your video helped alot !

I took the test in Austin and failed. 😂😂 there $70 gone down the drain.. I was tired from the drive so I made mistakes. Also I used one of those realistic type of hands and the tips kept lifting. It was annoying and My work suffered from that. But I’m retaking again next week here in Houston. Just my luck they had ONE slot available this month just for ME.
The Austin location is pretty outdated and the women(workers) were catty with each other’s. Sssooo not a good vibe. TBH.
Here are some things to mention:
    1. My monomer was checked before the exam. Not my polymer.
    2. The inspector also asked to check my mannequin hand AND/OR fingers. I guess you can use fingers for the nail tip and acrylic portion.
    3. You can actually use a bin/basket on your desk for all of your supplies.
    4. Do not, I repeat, do not place your “trash” back inside of your disinfected bucket or whatever you’re using. Just tie the bag up and place to the side.
    5. Using the hard fake hand is best. This way you can turn your hand around when finished.
    6. When applying cuticle cream use an orangewood stick with twisted cotton on the end.
    7. When doing the massage they are looking for you to do the effleurage massage. You need to massage each finger individually.
    And lastly,
If you fail, they do not tell you what you made mistakes on. One of the workers was nice enough to tell me how I messed up.
There’s was just me and another female. She passed. She also set up her towels during the first part and she got all points.
This video is amazing content and it did help me tremendously. I will still utilize this video as a reference point of studying. Best of luck to all you ladies and gents on your practical…

I will be needing to take the exams and currently brushing up on it all. Just to clarify there is no longer a polishing a nail process? Also no model required? Would I still pass if I did a waterless manicure? The psi bulletin says "It is NOT necessary to perform
additional or altered steps/tasks not listed below. Items NOT listed below are NOT rated during the examination." So that means as long as I 1. set up my table 2. sanitize hands 3. shape the nails 4. perform cuticle care 5. clean under free edges all in order and maintaining cleanliness I can still pass right? Hi Yary! Tysm for this gem! I have a bit of questions that I need help with. The bulletin list cuticle oil. Should I use it in both mani and sculpt section? Also can I brush the cuticle oil directly on the nail or with orange wood stick? For the tip application am I required to use tips with wells? Should I lay down a towel in the general set up and am I allowed to keep it on the desk throughout the sections? Also I was taught that whatever we put in our general bag is what we are allowed to keep out throughout test is that true? I know it’s a lot of questions but I see it done so many ways and want to score well 😅

    • @GlamAndBeyond

      Hi
Should I use it in both mani and sculpt section? *You can use it in both sections if you would like ….Also can I brush the cuticle oil directly on the nail or with orange wood stick? * You can brush it directly…For the tip application am I required to use tips with wells?* Honestly they do not care if you do or you don’t they won’t be looking for it…
Should I lay down a towel in the general set up and am I allowed to keep it on the desk throughout the sections? * Yes you can just disinfect your station in between each section….Also I was taught that whatever we put in our general bag is what we are allowed to keep out throughout test is that true? * it depends on how you set your bags ? So you plan on putting everything in the general bag ? Everyone sets up the pre-exam set up bag different you saw what our student put out and kept the whole test and she had what was needed for each section in its own separate bag and kept out what she needed moving forward but would remove and discard what was needed.
My advice is do not get confused by what you see different people do in different videos, do as you were shown by your instructor, the video is only a visual and to give you a sense of what you can expect but every instructor has the same goal/ idea in mind which is for all students to pass . Don’t overthink it I’m sure you will pass and with a great score good luck to you and everyone reading this 🫶🏼🍀🍀🍀

Texas or what state? I am looking at the latest psi bulletin for Manicurist dated 12/9/2020 and it has nothing in regards to “ removal” they cannot expect students to have items they need to perform something they haven’t been notified on.
