- Many famous figures graced Oliver Hill's 1930s Art Deco masterpiece the Midland Hotel in Morecambe. These including Noel Coward and reputedly Coco Chanel. Anthony Padgett (dance teacher at the Hotel for a number of years) here envisions Bertie Wooster (from the P.G. Wodehouse book series) dancing the Charleston at the Hotel. In typical Bertie style he gets up to all manner of terpsichorean silliness - and without the aid of a bot' to drink. After his behaviour "beyond the rabbit fence" he even manages to leave his hat and jacket behind, containing his wallet and house keys. Only Jeeves can save him! It's not often that Bertie uses language like this but "Tch!" Wearing a 1940s CC41 suit. Driving a 1930s style Madison car. Music "Jeeves and Wooster" from the TV series starring Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry. Music by Graham Dalby and the Grahamophones. Thanks to the hotel for permission to film - May 2018.
Well, that was just dashed topping, I say, old scout! Well done, my dear chap.
not sure jeeves would approve those shoes.... good job
Had not thought of that, but I see that you are right.
If asked to lay them out, Jeeves would no doubt say “Very good, sir” in the low, cold tone of one who had been bitten in the leg by a personal friend.
Smashing good job!
Marvellous! If I saw you doing your moves I’d join in.
O I say! Wonderful!
Love it Anthony!
Top-o! I mean to say, swinging a dashed efficient shoe what! My only regret is that I’m only seeing this just now.
What ho! I love this show and you did perfect! Ol' Bertie would be proud and maybe a little smile would crack Jeeves face, lol.
Got the sprit! I wonder if any of the residents saw this, and thought they were seeing things?
A gentleman would not normally remove his jacket in a public place, but that’s the trouble with the youth of today. They are affected by the deplorable climate of post-war moral laxity.
This is really fun. I always wonder how to make a video where you put the music in after the dancing. You did a great job on that as well as the dancing. I'm going to learn the Charleston after watching this.
I want that car.
Oh, man!
😍🥰🧡💚❤️💛
Hail Spode!
Begone-Eulalie!
Bertie would be really proud of you!
I wish that those clothes and steps had never gone out of style. So elegant and fun!
It is this very quality of espièglerie and general effervescence that will ensure every success in your future endeavours as a so-called TH-camr!
P.S., loving the suspenders! Thurston?
Very well done, sir!
The spirit of the Wooster!
You da man❤
We’re going to The Midland in April. Great vid!
Hey, you forgot your jacket.
Бесподобный сериал, бесподобный Хью Лори.
