Thank you for sharing. My husband was on clozapine for 25 years. He developed acute leukemia (mostly likely from the clozapine) and had to go off cold turkey 3 months ago since he chose to forego the brutal treatment. He was told he had weeks to live. He is still in withdrawal from clozapine. His provider didn't tell him what hell he would go through, but he had no choice. Once he got through the worst of it, he has a clarity of thought he hasn't had in years. He has lots of energy--of course he isn't sleeping more than an hour or two a night, and so far, no leukemia symptoms. I don't think this drug should be prescribed for anyone.
When I withdrew from Clozapine I’ve slept 1 or 2 hours a night for two months with awake nightmares as well as the cat! My bf brought an Egyptian cat from his friends to look after for a week, at the same time I was seeing shadows everywhere every night and the cat was chasing them and sometimes seemed like possessed.. it was horrible at nights but I was running in the mornings with full of energy, so as the time passed my sleeping routine has came back to normal 😊
i also have experienced something similar to what you are describing when i was experiencing psychosis. i could not tell the difference between my dreams and being awake. i’ve only heard one other person deal with this so thank you for sharing your experience. i am about to start clozapine tomorrow. hopefully it all goes well.
Clozapine blocks the Histamine H1 receptors, making it an "anti-histamine". Anti-psychotics were originally developed as anti-histamines in the 1940's and 1950's.
My god I experienced so many levels of being fucked up but this sleeping with eyes open thing, my gosh Gabriel this is a truely horrible thing you describe. I am so sorry you have, had to go through this. I wish you the very best. 💚

I have C-PTSD and extremely traumatic experiences, but I have to say that withdrawing from Clozapine is one of the most traumatic. It truly was living hell and I don't wish it upon anybody. I've finally recovered I think, I was on Clozapine for eight years. I was certain I wouldn't recover and I felt completely like I was dead but still living.
Pls share,at what dose you were. How much percent taper each time you did tks pls reply will be helpful
I, too, would like to know the starting dose, the percentage of tapering, and the rate at which you tapered. I know everyone is different but your experience may be able to help us. My son is tapering of off Clozapine. Thank you.
My dosage was 175mg and did according to what the doctor told me; 25mg down every four days. So awful. I honestly barely survived. If I had known better I NEVER would have gotten off it that fast.
@@LegendaryxEyes Thanks for the info. Our taper is 12.5mg every 7 to 10 plus days. We started at 200mg on May 9th (2023) and now we are at 87.5. Nervous about getting through the smaller doses but we have hope. Again, thank you for replying back.
Thanks for sharing. My sister has come off Clozapine cold turkey and is going through severe itching and having thoughts and seeing faces and cannot sleep and is having loads of nightmares. Can I ask, how long did your withdrawal symptoms last - or did you end up going back on Clozapine because the withdrawal never ended ??

Nightmare/awake. I call them double dreams.
I have been taking Prazosin before I go to bed it has nearly diminished my nightmares that seem to be happening in reality where it's just a dream.

I wish my son would not try to stop his clozapine. At first he seems a bit more with it but soon the situation becomes really, really bad. They tried Haldol because he did not want the clozapine any more and his behavior went from bad to much, much worse and I had a very hard time getting them to put him back on the clozapine which is the only antipsychotic that stabilizes him.
So how are you now, have you stopped all medication for psychosis ?
Is the injection better to take than the pill
if you take the injection you do not know how efficiently the drug is being released into your system,
with the tablets you know how much is in your system for sure.

Thank you for sharing your story about clozapine. My 74yo mother was taking clozapine and I saw à major improvement and then, the side effect was too much for her so and she ask her psy to stop and go back to her past treatment. Didn't work at all. It was à night are so she had to go back on clozapine. Her side effect is huge but at least she dont have paranoïa or hallucination anymore. Because of her âge, she cant really describe me how she really feel but with your vidéo, I now understand it better so thank you for your explanation. Schizophrénia is such a huge pain for the person having it and the love one who will do anything to make them feel safe. Peace my friend
