    Hey! It's been a few months since I've published this video and *still* oura has yet to deliver on these features. So, if you're on the fence about the ring and are just seeing this video... know that 5+ months from launch, we still don't have the promised gen 3 features🥲

    Nice video. Informative and honest. Just upgraded to the Gen 3 today from my Gen 2 so i don't miss the window. But like you said, I too certainly trust they will deliver on all they say with the feature rollout. Looking forward to your full review later.

    I ordered mine on 11/15/2021 and never received it. I sent several emails and asked to speak with customer service. All they said is that they had no one to take calls. After 6 months of attempting to resolve issue I finally received my ring today 6/3/2022. After listening to your review it may have been best to be getting it now.

    Just got my ring and thanks for the heads up on the monthly subscription. Have had the gen2 for a couple of years so just emailed oura to make sure i don't pay the monthly.

    Received my Silver Gen 3 ring today (upgraded from Gen 2). Funny, I have lost my Gen 2 ring and wanted to buy a replacement. I get Oura’s emails and saw the release announcement. I was excited mainly for the SpO2 sensing. Then I read about the membership fee and it flat turned me off. Eventually, I got the upgrade email with the lifetime membership. That’s what sold me. I’m disappointed the biggest feature for me is vaporware at this time. But like you, I’m confident Oura will deliver on their promises.

    i ordered a gen 3, 2 months ago and still don't have a working unit. took them 7 weeks to send me a replacement, and the replacement still doesn't work

    Very well articulated. Thank you. My Gen3 upgrade is arriving this coming week. I upgraded primarily for the improved sleep algorithm. I don’t really have much interest in the 24x7 HR monitoring as my Apple Watch accomplishes that now. I am looking forward to a review from The Quantified Scientist to compare the sleep stages against an EEG device. Based on earlier reviews from him, the Gen2 only showed around a 50-55% accuracy (at best) so if we don’t see an improvement on this front, I will be extremely disappointed. As you pointed out, most people purchase the Oura to monitor their sleep and not necessarily as an activity tracker.

      the enhanced sleep algorithm is also not coming until 2022 for the gen 3 ring.

      I'm excited to see what The Quantified Scientist says as well! Man oh man would it be a double blow if it doesn't quite live up to the testing they say it will!

    Such a great review! Want the gen 3 But my almost 4 year old Oura ring is still in excellent condition, thanks to the protector I got from OSleeve. Guess it was wise to protect our investments, huh?

    Decided to pull the trigger. I’m a new user who waited a long time for the gen 3 to come out. Not stoked at all for the subscription fee since I was following the company closely during the gen 2 lifecycle. But, I still think the data will be valuable and help make me more health conscious.
    I do 100% agree with you though. It’s very lame that most of the new features are not out yet.

    Very fair comments. Ordered the upgrade fire the rains you mentioned at the end of the video, but if they don't provide those new features soon in 2022 or they're poorly performant it's going to be really annoying.

    Great video and for someone who DID just find out about the Oura Ring... the points about the subscription service and how they basically make you pay for your data remind me of what Whoop does in a way... I think that most of the important info should be free to the user for buying the hardware and if you want the extra bells and whistles that can come with the ring then make THAT the subscription option. I also believe consumers would be willing to pay a little more for the ring upfront if it meant the main and most important data was free. This video was great and honestly made me hold off on buying one until A. The company releases the update for all the new features and B. Maybe they tweak their pricing strategy and revert back to something like what was offered with the Gen 2 Ring whilst adding that extra "above and beyond" stuff for the subscription fee.

    Hi - I can’t decide if I want this or not! I’m confused about the upgrades. It’s April 15th, 2022 & I have the ring sizer kit but don’t know if I want it yet or not!!! What are your thoughts? I’m getting mixed messages.

      Hey! First off, appreciate you watching the video and asking! To be completely honest, I’d have a hard time recommending the ring at this point in time. I was very excited about the gen 3 after upgrading and now *many* months out, we still do not have the features promised by the company. In addition to this, they’ve kind of flubbed the customer service response to this. I know I’m not the only loyal customer that has been jaded by the launch and subsequent response by oura. (Look at the comment section on their Instagram Post celebrating the sale of 1million rings. It isn’t pretty. Now, if you’re willing to wait it out for the features (if they’re as promised, it could be great) and get locked in to the subscription model, I say go for it. But, if you want to have something out of box that has all the features as advertised, I’d pass or just wait until the features finally come out and make your call then. Hope that helps :)

    the title says "full set up" and there was none of that. I am new to Oura and I appreciate all of the background, but I'm having trouble setting up my new ring and thought, based on the title of this video, it would help me with that, but it didn't.

    Equally disappointed long time gen 2 user- my question: what notice did you receive that you are getting the lifetime app included? We bought 2 gen 3 before the cutoff date and I have not seen any notification of our lifetime app. Oura sent 2 ring sizing sets but only one notice to submit the chosen ring size. When I wrote them about the LTapp and being unable to submit the second ring size they replied 10 days later that I could submit the second ring size but nothing about the LTapp. Wrote them back about the LTapp and waiting to hear from Oura. Somewhat disappointed with response and very disappointed in the lack of NEW features for the $ outlay.

    Still waiting for my stealth in a size 12. Upgrading from Gen2. Did I hear you correctly that you recommend factory resetting the Gen2 before setting up the Gen3?

      Hey thanks for watching! I went ahead and factory reset my gen 2 because I intend to give it to a family member so they can have it at factory settings, but it doesn’t seem necessary unless you plan on giving someone else your old ring!

    Pre ordered day after launch day and I was one of the unfortunute ones, i got an email saying wait 2 weeks to even get your device shipping notifications even though I pre ordered. So what was the point of pre ordeering if I wont get mine until December. Kind of frustrating pre ordered the day after launch but they proritized old customers of gen2 vs new customers. Still don't have a update email with shipping info and its 11-20 and ordered day after launch .

    Totally agree with the botched release. I have Gen 2 and at this time have 8 days to order Gen 3 to not lose out. I am not as convinced that Oura can deliver all that is promised. Still, I am considering the upgrade. Because my job is not conducive to wearing jewelry I only use my Gen 2 for sleep tracking. That makes my decision to upgrade even harder.

      I wish I could've given a more solid recommendation to upgrade, but this is a prime example of being one of the customers that is forced to make a decision on future promises. It ain't right!

    I agree the launch I has been terrible. I have been wearing the Oura ring since the Gen 2 came out. The heart rate data is off compared to the Gen 2. I checked the real time HR vs my Apple watch and Polar HR strap and the Gen 3 was off by several beats. It is nuts that the new sleep algorithm is not out yet. I also had a recovery score that was the lowest I have had in over a year and my workout on the day before was a modest effort. I sent a message to tech support and I was told it would take several days to get back to me. Stupid, frustrating and it seriously impacts there credibility.

    Great review. I did buy one for the first time. I was sent the ring sizing kit and still deciding on a certain size and what finger. I’m not sure if I should go up a size or down because I’m kinda in the middle. The smaller size (a 10) leaves marks on my finger when I leave it on. The 11 is loser but more comfortable. Im curious to here what you think. Thanks

      Hey, thank you! I would guess that it's best to pick the size that doesn't feel too too tight. I know oura recommends wearing the sizing kit for 24 hrs because of hand swell throughout the day etc!

      I am a new ring user, its a gift still waiting on the size kit, but like you said disappointed in the pay for my data subscription....really expected it for the guided meditation or exercise stuff but not data.....I hope they change that policy. Still excited....

    Lot of complaining, not a lot of explaining how to set it up. I came for the setup. 13 minutes later I am VERY well aware that you are not happy that all the features it promised weren’t available at release

    Yeah… I have Gen 2, was ready to upgrade but I’m going to wait until all the features are released. Plus I’m disappointed about the subscription plan (even if it wouldn’t apply to me personally) and about the fact that the guided meditations are not longer available on Gen 2. Disappointed because they didn’t give any anticipation about the new product with all the consequences. Many many complaints on IG about support. Personally I always got good support from Oura and have always promote the product. Now … meh !! Disappointed and sorry to say so.
    I really don’t understand why they behaved this way with Gen 3… ah yes…. I would call it “greediness”. I hate to say it but that’s what it is. They would have done so much better without the subscription and without taking away features from the previous Gen. Don’t like their ways and that’s why I’m not upgrading. I’m sure I’m one of many old users feeling like this.

      I'm with you 100%. I think this is a pretty common sentiment within the "community". The product always felt like this best kept secret between enthusiasts and the company, but that relationship has changed for the worse for a lot of people after this launch.
