  • Which ŌURA Ring should you buy? The new horizon or the heritage style? Of those two which one weighs more? Is the horizon smart ring thinner than the heritage model from 2021?
    4:00 - measuring the rose gold horizon
    4:29 - measuring the stealth heritage
    5:00 - how much does an ŌURA Ring weigh?
    And yes, this was Day 34 with the ŌURA Ring horizon in rose gold, oh yeah, it was a fun experiment wearing four Finnish rings for over a month - wow!

    Thank you so much for making this video! 🎉 I’ve been scouring the internet to find details on the different shapes of the two rings and you finally answered my question about the rounded/beveled profile of the horizon vs the flat edged one of the heritage! It’s confirmed my decision to order heritage gold as I think it looks more modernistic than the softer shapes of the horizon 😊 (also a very calming video to watch for some reason 😅)

      You are so welcome and glad to have helped. Yeah, the newer Horizon ŌURA Ring 3.0 is more comfortable to wear than the heritage style from 2021. Alas, the Ultrahuman Ring Air is more comfortable to wear than any ÕURA Ring I slide onto my finger over the past four years... I'll have a full comparison of the ŌURA Ring VS. Ultrahuman Ring Air published soon. Today is my Day 23 wearing the Ultrahuman and over two years wearing an ŌURA Ring. I need a full month of data, more tests, further workout analysis, and just more time. Glad you found my video calming :)

      Thank you Erik! I too am fascinated by the Finnish technology... I first started wearing an ŌURA Ring back in 2020, but ordered the wrong size and was not that impressed with the ŌR gen 2 wearable. After working with the kind, and responsive ŌURA Support Team they allowed me to return the device. Not even a year later, my curiosity sparked again, I ordered the sizing kit, and still wear my ŌR gen 2 size 11. I don't think I have not worn it since it was unboxed. I do take break now and again during daylight hours, but yes, I am a huge fan. I wore four ŌURA Rings all day, all night for a month trying to prove something. I wanted to see if the Finnish gadgets were truly that accurate, and yeah, they were, and still are. I wore the Rose Gold size 12 and the Stealth size 12 on both index fingers as ŌURA recommends all during October and into November - it was fun! I must say though, four smart rings was a bit much even someone addicted to technology.
      So, what is your favorite thing about wearing your #OURARing?

    • @PeterHerget
      @PeterHerget  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for the comment and great questions. I think the ŌURA Ring easily replaces the Garmin for sleep tracking and is a nice compliment to either a Garmin, or an Apple Watch. It far more comfortable to wear a ring that weighs the same as two pennies instead of nearly any smartwatch. As for the Whoop, well, it fails to display my heart rate while working out so I am not interested. In fact, ŌURA has the same fallacy. ŌURA does have a nice feature where it imports my Garmin workouts automatically and the gives me a nice outlook on my recover data…

    Could it be that the Horizon style moves just as much during the day, but you are not aware of it because it is round whereas the Heritage style makes it obvious that it is moving to the side because of the "shelf?" I have the Oura Gen2 and it moves to the sides slightly during the day. I can tell because it has a sort of knob on the top. I didn't like how tight the sample of the next size down was, so I went up instead. It has not fallen off, but it does move to the side a little, which I don't mind. It's better to know that it's moving to the side than to not know, right?

    • @PeterHerget
      @PeterHerget  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I kept a close eye on the "dimple" located on the rose-gold horizon and for some bizzaro reason it simply stayed in the correctly position on my index fingers better than the heritage. And yes, both were size 12 ŌURA Rings. I even wore the horizon and my left index and the slate heritage on my right index finger for several days, then switched, and then switched again. It would be difficult to document my proof other than to higher a videographer to follow-me around all day for 33 days. I don't think even HBO is interesting in a reality TV show about a Geek that wears four smartrings 24/7 for over four weeks just for scientific fun. Regardless, yes, I do miss the rose gold on my hand and the Circular Ring now takes its place on my right-index finger, yeah, four rings 24 hours a day for the past nine days. I hope this addiction of mine helps me reach my age goal of 100 years old ;)

At the ned of the day, yep, I am waiting for the ŌURA Ring gen 4 to be released for I have already given the Finnish enough of my money. I must say this about their new "horizon" model ring:
      1. it is more comfortable to wear
      2. it spins on a table more effectively
      3. the design wears, and looks, far better on a finger than any previous ŌURA Ring
      4. the rose gold sure does scratch easily - wow!

    Thanks! Thicker, slightly heavier, much more expensive (53 EUR) + quite a few people complain about the thickness of the horizon (not so comfortable on the middle finger) and return it .. it seems that their strategy is to sell worse for more. Also, the ugly subscription for new v3 owners (for an already expensive product) + many people complaining about terrible customer support + not delivering promised features on time ... that will come back to haunt them sooner rather than later..

    • @PeterHerget
      @PeterHerget  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      An interesting perspective about ŌURA Rings. The subscription model is horrible and yes, the Horizon model is slightly thicker. As for heavier, maybe a tiny, tiny bit, but I was unable to tell a difference in weight. When I wore a Horizon and a Heritage ŌURA Ring for an entire month I liked the look and feel of the Horizon a little better, but the rose gold model was too easily scratched, gave no new health data metrics, so I returned it.

      @@PeterHerget Thank you for your feedback. Could you please let me know if you have experienced any measurement gaps with the Horizon?
      The main sensors are reportedly supposed to face the palm for correct reading, and in one review, a user mentioned that the horizon model was harder to identify that the ring was not in the right position (because of its shape), and readings occasionally dropped out. Have you experienced something similar please? I'm still not 100% decided which one to pick. I think the Horizon might be fine on the index finger where there is a bit more room around the finger. Thanks and have a good day.

    Since I had the misfortune of ordering the wrong size and needed to exchange it, Oura now refuses to accept a return of a ring that’s not working. In multiple emails they have not asked what the problem is to try to help fix it. 😢 There’s nowhere to leave a review.

      That is a HUGE bummer, and I am sorry to have read that. I had some woes of my own... I lost my ŌURA Ring gen 3, slate, size 12, it fell off while I was shoveling snow. I searched for weeks and then contacted ŌURA and they are not able to do anything. They did offer me $50.00 off. I hope you're able to get your ring size adjusted. I gave both rings more thought and then read my notes from the video. I did a few searches and found this:
      comparedjunky.com/oura-heritage-vs-horizon-rings/#comment-14
      In short, the ŌURA Ring heritage or the horizon are pretty much the same. I even wore a size 12 horizon and a size 12 heritage on the same left index finger for a few days, switched them both to my right index finger for 48 hours, compared the data and... it is very, very close. I was reviewing far too my gadgets during the Fall Season of 2022 and skipped making a detailed video. I truly enjoyed the feel of the newer design, Horizon. I did not feel it stayed in position any easier than the Heritage (flat-top) style. The is another company, Circular Ring, their design has a different, unique prong charging system. Since the prongs are more pronounced, yes, my new Circular Ring Slim, stays in position nicely. If you don't already have an ŌURA Ring, yes, I highly recommend waiting another month for they are due for a release soon. Though, if they didn't release at CES 2024, it may not come until 2025. A third option is the Ultrahuman Ring Air, more affordable than both ŌURA and Circular, no subscription fees like ŌURA, (Circular Ring doesn't charge you to see your data either), and several Programmers from the Finnish organization, ŌURA, ended up working over at Ultrahuman; ergo, many similarities between an ŌURA and an Ultrahuman smart ring.
      Step 1: decide if you want a smart piece of jewelry to wear to bed and during the day
      Step 2: order the sizing kit
      Step 3: wear the demo-plastic-smartring for 48 to 72 hours, workout, shower, sleep, swim, go for a long walk, and sleep with it again.
      Step 4: wait another week, sleep on it again, place the smart ring back on your finger, and then make your purchase choice.
      The bad news... If your smart ring falls off, yeah, and nope, there is little you can do to locate it unless:
      1. you have an Apple iPhone and the location history was functioning when your ŌURA Ring fell off. I had my size 12 Heritage Stealth smart ring on my left thumb and was shoveling snow, took off my gloves, and then put them on again. About 45 minutes later, took off my left glove and realized my gorgeous, stealth ring was missing. I have scoured the the 300 square foot area, but it is is literally like searching for a needle in a haystack. Only the Circular Ring, Circular Ring Slim, and the Circular Ring Pro vibrate and make sounds. All three, Circular, ŌURA, and Ultrahuman rings turn on lights on the inner perimeter or the ring to sense your body metrics. Under all of the snow, nope the lights were unable to be seen. During cold weather, batteries do NOT survive long. And since my size 12 ŌURA Ring was over two years old the battery life was only about 79 hours and already needed charging - UGH! I am going to ask a friend of mine to bring over his metal detector to help my search the area: to be continued...
