      I think it'd be better to expand your American Mafia series to other Mafia groups such as Irish, Jewish and even African American ones.
      I know you have considered it already but I think the next series should be on Cartels especially those with connection to 🇺🇸.

    Unfortunately, you have forgotten one of the key pieces of information about why it became possible to enforce prohibition in the first place: World War I.
    The German-Americans were one of the main (socially accepted and influential) groups that opposed Prohibition.
    But the turnaround in public opinion occurred when the United States entered the war against the German Empire and its allies.
    Since almost all major breweries were in German hands and beer consumption was associated with the culture of German-Americans, alcohol was from now on considered unpatriotic and un-American.

Lucky Luciano who would be schooled in the rackets and become a “protege” of “The Big Bankroll” Rothstein in the early days following his arrival in America. Luciano began as a dealer/distributor of the powder heroin in the years prior to Prohibition and was caught by the authorities with the drugs. Lucky managed to work out a “deal” with the officers to take them to the supply of heroin that was in reality dope Charlie Lucky was selling but the law officers were happy with the stash of heroin Luciano traded for his freedom and his leaving the city in which he had been distributing his drug supply. Damn cops were looking for a fast, big money payday same thing that the criminals and racketeers were in the process of acquiring through their connections in the labor unions and in the big factories Bosses, working on both sides depending upon who was paying the most money and offered them the longest money!!

      Pat…I did some research on the Prohibition, and it seems the proponents of prohibition as almost anyone else in this era never thought of beer as alcohol, so when that became illegal they were totally shocked.
      There was a joke back then: “the Prohibition started, but no one told the customers” since they could get their alcohol at any place that bought it from the mob!

      There's a tumblr post explaining why Joker was rightfully afraid of dealing with the IRS when he's tussled with Batman, whose entire schtick is fear. I don't fully remember the details, but Batman's a vigilante, any evidence he gathers is unusable in a trial.
      If the GCPD gets him, he can plead insanity and their not going to have any evidence because they need the Batman to hold their hand, since he IS the only one (not counting the rest of the family) who can go toe to toe with the likes of the Joker
      But if the IRS gets Joker on tax evasion, there's no defense for him. Taxes are taxes, insane or not.

    • @BoxStudioExecutive
      @BoxStudioExecutive 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      reyonXIII thats false. There is no general law excluding evidence gathered by a vigilante. In fact, sometimes evidence gathered illegally by a private citizen is admissible whereas if gathered by law enforcement, would not be.

    • @reyonXIII
      @reyonXIII 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BoxStudioExecutive Perhaps, but it does beg the question of why people even have the nerve to blame Batman for not killing the Joker when the law itself can bypass Joker's insanity defense via vigilante-sourced evidence. Then again, the whole "Batman should kill the Joker" argument is really more of a symptom of how the citizens, as well as some of us, would wash our hands of culpability in prosecuting a criminal that has tangibly and notoriously harmed a significant sector of society

    One thing to note though is that the mafia rarely used Tommy Guns because of just how astronomically expensive they were, each being nearly half the cost of a brand new car. While Al Capone did manage to get a hold of a few, they were never widespread and were more of an invention of Hollywood, which liked the Tommy Gun because of it's distinct profile and large magazine capacity which made for more interesting actions scenes. Every further iternation of the Thompson Submachine Gun reduced the potential of the gun in order to cut down on it's very high unit cost. It was only through Hollywood budgets that we could see Mafiosos and Tommy Guns go together like peas and carrots.

    **Small Correction** Mad Dog Coll was not the hit man that eliminated Maranzano. Mad Dog was hired by Maranzano to eliminate Luciano. Mad Dog was paid 25k in advance with the agreement of another 25k when job was finished. Gaetano Lucchese, Maranzanos body guard, sent word to Luciano. Since all the killers in Lucianos family would be recognized by Maranzano, Luck reached out to Meyer Lansky who sent him Red Leveine and other shooter's who, disguised as IRS made way into Maranzanos office, were let in by Lucchese and executed Maranzano.

    Actually there are some mistake in this video that I like to point out first Torrio didn’t give up his power to Capone until 1925 when the North Side gang tried to assassinated him but failed, Second the hit on Maranzano was quite the opposite, Maranzano is actually the one who hired Mad Dog Coll he was planning to kill Lucky Luciano. However Luciano knew of Maranzano plan to kill him so he sent Four hitmen under the guise of tax agents to kill Maranzano
