Cape Disappointment | Virtual Walking | Hiking

Goobie and Doobie visit Cape Disappointment State Park, Washington. There was so much to see. Firstly, the name Cape Disappointment is from a captain named John Meares that came up the coast looking for a large river opening that someone else said was here. When he came here, he mistook the Columbia River mouth for a bay and was disappointed. So he named the cape, Cape Disappointment, even though without knowing it, he actually found what he was looking for.
This cape is one of the windiest places in Washington. Winds can get up to 160 mph when mid-latitude cyclones form off the coast. There are two lighthouses, multiple jetties, coves, and hollows to see. Doobie and I built a beach bonfire and watched the sunset before heading back to our tent.
