Dan I worked for a major gold mining operation for years. Recovery is about 2-3000 ounces daily. But...Man, I've learned alot for getting gold on my own from you and your videos. Thanks Man!

Thanks Dan for another entertaining couple of videos up in the hills. My wife and I just returned from the Owens River in Bright Victoria Australia. Self isolating. A walk along the river reveling dozens of old tailings and trenches for water that the Chinese miners had dug out during the gold rush days . Could have spent some time there but had to get back home as my wife is a nurse and she is needed as the virus spreads rapidly throughout our city of Geelong. Sad times my friend, stay safe, and keep us all smiling/laughing as you have done so well in the past! 🍺

Around historic (49-er) placer mines in California, you often see buckets with pierced bottoms, cans with small nail holes punched in the bottom using small cut nails. These are often lying beside sluice lines, where cloth "miners moss" was washed down. They used the various buckets and cans as dippers to pour water over the mats and wash gold out of them.

Helloo! Dan. You have earned my subscription. I found you a week or two ago and I seem to be hooked. I know nothing of the gold business but when I watch you running the high banker it seems to me that the water running down the troughs is fairly hurtling along at what looks to me a terrific speed. Every time a shovel full of material is dropped in, the water turns dirty instantly. A moment later it runs clear again. Do you think adding a hopper at the top with a steady speed conveyor to make the feed of material more constant would allow a slower water feed and less loss of gold. A small motor drive would not be too hard to fabricate. If you had less water flow down the trough you would have an excess to power the conveyor motor. Hydraulic motors can run on water. Mayhap one of your fans could make one for you. Two rollers. A rubber belt made of pond liner. A squashed bucket with the bottom knocked out. Driven by a little hydraulic motor. Hang it up at the top. I can feel a video coming along.

Very fun video, would have been a great day/weekend trip. The gold is very pretty, but if in fact only 1 gram then this trip is more about a day in the beauty of nature than a day for decent pay. Have fun!

Nice gold Dan! Have you ever thought of getting some graphite coin molds to melt down some of the powder and other tiny pieces? Make yourself some Dan Hurd Prospecting custom coins. Might be interesting to see how the colour would turn out with any impurities too compared to .999 or other common mixes.

Well done Dan! I hope you do more future high-banking videos (like this one), at your Blue Chip Mine and your Retirement Dream river placer mine. I don't know the gold could be so fine in BC! It looks like billions of fly specks! Wow if it could be melted down into pin-head sized nuggets, I wonder how much weight the pure gold would weigh? Hummmmm!

Hey Dan at 19:12 is that a chunk of platinum? There are a number of shiny silver chunkies in there. May add a little more value to the Blue Chip. I'm stuck in the middle of Flatlandia Saskatchewan and I'm almost ready to go for the flour gold around here. I need to shake a pan or run a sluice. Lol. Maybe a gold cube with a tromal? Not sure, but I'm probably not getting to B.C this summer. I normally go to Sheep Creek area or Haul Siding (Not Sure if that's the right name for the place).

I wonder if there is still gold in that abandoned mine beyond the super tiny stuff found in the waste rock. I would guess they abandoned it when there was no more visible gold they could reach at the time but could more be extracted via rock crushing or chemical extraction means? Or does the vain run deeper than they could economically reach? Considering the mine appears completely flooded i would imagin trying to reopen it would be costly and dangerous tho.
