Thieves Steal My Gold! I need Revenge!

  • ARRG! Criminals! Thieves! I've been robbed! You don't want me to catch you. You will regret it!
    Claim jumpers hit the Pickerton claim. Left a mess, both little and workings. You can clearly see where they work gold panning, where they were digging and go figure it is right where I just posted a video I was finding great gold. I was back on the claim less than a week after I posted the video of this spot and in that week the thieves hit. I had taken down the trail cam because it was eating batteries and just catching people walking their dogs but cameras are now back in place and if I catch the thieves I will be pressing charges.

      Gary is my favorite of all time though - he of all the YT gold channels I've found so far at least helps newbies understand what to look for and how to look / prospect. I always find I learn something every time I watch him.
      I also find his style a lot more low key and humble, which I prefer over some of the more 'in-your-face' influencers looking to just catch clicks

    Dan, sorry to see the damage to your claim. It brings up a couple of subjects I hope you’ll cover at some point.
    First, you’ve mentioned before that you buy and sell claims. How exactly does this business work? Do you buy claims that you think are undervalued, explore and hope to add value by proving you’ve found minerals? How do you find claims for sale? How do you market them?
    Second, If I were to decide to head into the Sierra Nevadas with a pan, how could I avoid claim jumping? Do I just watch out for evidence of prospecting and avoid places where people are obviously working, or must I actually find a location that I know (through whatever research is necessary) to not be a gold claim?
    Thanks for all the videos, I really enjoy your channel!

    • @joerooney6724
      @joerooney6724 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Better to do your due diligence in getting a claim. Buying is dangerous and you could be out thousands of $$$. Do research and get one by discovery.

      Not sure how claims go but there have been many a claim someone thought was spent or worthless only to hit it rich. Buddy of mine did that in Arizona years ago with an old mine, but mining is a whole other world as apposed to panning.

      @howardandrus8828 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know how it works either, but 50 years ago, When I got interested, I studied first. Just panning to start, when you start sluicing, dredging and more, you have to know enough to make sure you can try for gold. If you go fishing, don't you know you have to have a license? If you went on a trip and came home to your house and strangers were in it, you know that would be wrong. Before you prospect for gold, make sure it's public land and permitted. Can imagine environmental things are different now too.

    On a better note it is great that you pointed out and explained that you do reclamation of the area as you go! It is very important to help the environment continue on with the moss and even the odd weed. Pan on!

    Great to see the claim reclamation. Don't see that too often on TH-cam videos.
    Do claims in BC have yellow signs like they do in the US? I wonder if the claim jumpers may have been looking for large pickers and not panning by the amount of damage and lack of processing their damage.

    I Sub’d to your channel. I’ve learned more about gold prospecting in just a few of your videos than I did watching others from different people panning. You make your videos fun to watch and you don’t even know you’re learning until you find a flake or some pickets. Plus, you’re probably a little squirrellier than I am. And that makes your videos gold by itself. Thanks for the laughs and prospecting insights.

    When you stake a claim, do you have to post visible markers?.....How easy would it be for someone to accidentally do this?...or do you have to file the claim first before you do any digging?.....I have lived in BC for 35+ years, but am an urban person so I don't know anything about claims.

    probably just a competitor jealous of your success and he ransacked one of your claim. I would have cleaned up what they left and showed all the gold they left on the spot. It's unfortunate that people have so little respect for others and for nature. But I am impressed by your calm and your positivism despite the situation.
