      We absolutely can't let them ruin our mood at all! Taking the time for negativity instead of good heart-felt advice, and helping to educate others is more difficult, but it is always the high road!

    great to see you back. dont worry about the negative comments. there will always be a hater. only the people that track understand it. mistakes or accidents happens. its the price of the racing game.

    It was great to hang out with you this weekend. People with nothing good to say about your experience weren't there when we were all worried about you when it happened. You overcame a lot this weekend and had fun doing it. That's a win!

    You've definitely improved as a driver, I'd say.
    Much smoother inputs, smoother weight transfers, and a much tighter 9 to 3 hands position.
    Keep it up bro 💪

      It only gets harder to be smooth as the speed increases since the cadence of reaction is increased. I fear that more than anything else!

    Was great seeing you out there and getting back into the swing of things! First time back after a crash is very unnerving. Glad you were able to keep your head clear, and happy you learned a bit from the ride along!
    Very nice lap overall - especially Hogpen! That was one of my areas of focus this weekend and your advice there helped a bunch. I just need to get better consistency there.
    Hope to see you out there again in December!

    I think we get so focused on times that we forget to actually have fun. its good to get PRs but. not at the expense of having fun and have a good day out on track. Glad you back there, that takes some guts. You are right about the PS4S, they are junk on track, great street tires. I had to run them at the track a few weeks ago because had an issue with the track wheels they squirm, take long to heat up and grip and then overhead and go slick quick. I also have R5s (only on front ) but been having tons of issues with judering its driving me crazy.

    • @pointbypatrol
      @pointbypatrol  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The R5's seem to have a tendency to smear. I don't remember the R7's having that same issue. With decent tires R7's would be a good choice!

    • @oficina_moomoo
      @oficina_moomoo 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I think either I did not bed them properly or something but had really bad juddering last track day, kind of ruined the say. Trying to drive with them daily to see if I can get rid of the deposits. But also thinking of going to ferodo 1.11s which is what I had on my m2 and were excellent (also way quieter, the r5s squeal like crazy all the time, the ferrodos only really did it when at the end of stopping)

    Thats how you do it! From another fellow HPDE'er, its so refreshing to hear your humbled opinions. Everyone nowadays for some reason thinks their in TT their first time out in HPDE lol. So glad your well and pushing yourself to get back on the horse, there are no limits when your passionate about something!
    Loved hearing the shoutout to Tony in his GTI, great super smart guy! I want to get out there at a Tidewater event, between your experience and things Tony has mentioned, it certainly sounds chill!
    This is what HPDE is all about! Have fun! Work up to the pace, test the limits while your still in control, and just have as much fun as you can!!
    Just got back from Hyperfest running with NASA HPDE 2 and 3 groups (5th year at HF!), its been literal years tracking my civic a few HPDE events per year, but this outting I had more fun this time than I have had my entire HPDE career so far. I'm getting more and more comfortable trusting this wild contraption I've spent almost a decade building hahaha.

    I'm one of the new people who saw your crash video, and I just want to say a couple of things:
    First and foremost is holy crap!! I'm so glad that you're ok! That's some scary stuff.
    Second thing is a bit more critical of what happened... I didn't want to comment on your crash vid as that was not an appropriate time to do so, you had other crap to deal with. I do need to tell you this for your own safety and others on track with you.
    You mentioned having an instructor in the vehicle, but I would like to hear more about what feedback they had for you. I'm not an instructor but have attended many HPDE events and have had an instructor in my vehicle with me 95% of the time. My main observation is your hands. PLEASE work on your hand placement on the steering wheel. Your hands are a very major part of your feedback mechanism when it comes to determining your tires level grip on the track surface. If you are constantly shuffling around the wheel, you are not in sync with the wheel, steering column, steering rack, and ultimately the tires grip on the track surface.
    Always have your hands @ 9 and 3 unless you lose grip and need to counter steer. Use a light grip, no white knuckles, wiggle the fingers on stable straight aways to loosen up a bit, but always keep them at 9 and 3. If that makes you feel a bit confined during hairpin/tight turns, then you can adjust your column up/away to make a little more room for your elbows. Proper seating position is important.
    I really hope that this comes across as constructive criticism and not flaming as that is not my intent at all. Keep driving! Keep learning! Keep having fun!! That's what it's all about.
    EDIT: I notice that your lap starting around the 15 min mark looks much better than the previous vids I have watch when it comes to your hands. But you start to get lazy with that left hand at 16:02. Keep that hand locked in at 9:00.
    It was looking much better though! Keep at it.

    Wonderful job. Thanks for sharing everything. Two questions-1. What is black car is that you were chasing? I’m currently watching around 20:35 mark. 2. I haven’t followed in the past and this video highlighted it. Do you have any plans to address the suspension bounce during at-limit turns? I own an FL5 and I know that bounce well. : )

    • @pointbypatrol

    284 oil temp? Holy cow, is that normal? I’m used to the BRZ life where 240 gets me nervous.

    • @pointbypatrol
      @pointbypatrol  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The turbo is fed by oil on these cars, the oil tends to hit up quite a bit, but it's still within the safe range for the temperature that modern synthetics can see before degrading.

      @pointbypatrol  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Motul 300v can handle up to 385 Fahrenheit before it starts to degrade, so well within safe margins. The Type R also has a 1.3 bar radiator cap, and did not sustain over 230 for long periods of time, which is fine. This was also at 87 degrees ambient. I called it a win!
