Yes, it is very important to be "unpredictable" in your life patterns, especially if you live alone. It makes it harder for lurking lunatics to develop a "plan" to take you out. It doesnt mean you live in a state of paranoia, it just means you're keeping yourself lower on a potential target list. As a teenager that had recently moved from the rural country to Brooklyn, NY, I had caught a glimpse of a car behind me. The car seemed to purposely do things to stay positioned behind me. When I approached an intersection, I looked back directly at the driver who I caught looking directly at me with his hands on the steering wheel. I "felt" him trying to figure out which street I was going to cross and his uncertainty of which lane he needed to be in. I decided to approach the crosswalk that gave the appearance of which way I was going, dropped something on purpose when the walk light came on, meaning his light was green and would have a buttload of horns honking at him if he hesitated to move with traffic. As soon as he slowly drove ahead of me, I darted around the corner out of his line of sight then jaywalked (ran) across that street into an Italian cafe. I must've looked concerned peering out the door window from the side, because the elderly Italian man, with a very thick Italian accent asked me if I was ok. My southern accent was a dead give away that I was not native to the neighborhood. He hooked me up with my very first cappuccino then sat down across from me and shared advice in a caring, fatherly way. After that, I kept my hair covered up to and from school, never wore jewelry, changed jackets and coats, left school from different doors, and changed my work hours so I'd go to work after school instead of going home which allowed me to get on and off at various stops for the bus and/or subway. There was such a tenderness I felt with the elderly Italian man that owned that cafe. Heh, there was a room full of boisterous men in the back of the cafe, always playing cards and yelling at each other, dressed in suits inside this cozy casual cafe. 😆 It wasnt until well into my adulthood and a few mob movies later that I wondered.... @@polocapalot3796 I carry. Always. We are close to Memphis and it is has been just as wild in this border of Arkansas, even in the middle of the country (like the area she was attacked) you never know who you can trust, but it isn't fair that women have to think twice about going for a run, or going grocery shopping at night after work because it's the only free time we have. I only see these situations getting worse even with protection. I'm 5'8 and have been professionally trained to defend myself with my body AND a gun, but sometimes if a man is big enough and catches you off guard there isn't much you can do before it's too late. I was on my lunch break at work & the radio was talking about her/the search efforts, letting everyone know to be on the lookout for her. I've always been drawn to true crime, but her case is what really made me start following it closer. What a sad, horrible, unfathomable loss for her family. I imagine women are more likely to be kidnapped but it’s statistically evident that men are more commonly victims of violent crime. Probably just killed and robbed though.
that road is way too desolate to be running as a woman, not her fault in any way, but woman have to realize they cannot do this. predators everywhere sadly
I have been approached by vehicles in the middle of towns in broad daylight. I can remember at least one video of surveillance footage showing a van pull over and a man jumps out and tries to kidnap a woman in what looks like a suburban neighborhood in broad daylight. Only the fact that she was paying attention stopped him. It does not matter where or when you are running, creepers are gonna creep.
This video was so well done and so respectful.. this video brought me to tears and so did her story. So I’m so grateful to have heard her story and you’re right, she will live on forever.
Boy, this one was a difficult one to watch. I found myself getting choked up while watching the fireworks going off for her & then again at the end, when they were all standing at the spot where she died, letting go of all of those balloons. The amount of beautiful pictures of her, that were taken throughout her life is such a true blessing to now have.
I’ve always believed that if we spent the time to get to know the 3 neighbors on the left and right of us that we, as a nation, would be able to prevent many kidnappings, murders and abuses. It greatly humbles me that, in this case, it might not have mattered. Rest In Peace Sydney.

This is so horrifying!! But this is also the biggest celebration of life that I've ever seen come from a tragedy like this. With the runs, the donations from the foundation made in her name, the gifts to the local teachers and schools, Sydney will definitely live on and always be remembered. 💕
I was running when I was 26 and I had the weirdest thing happen to me. My roommate said “are you sure you want to go running right now.” I said “I’ll be fine.”The guy went past me on his bike then stopped and turned his bike over like he had a problem with it. As I went past him he just watched me and then about five minutes later he came past me and tried to grab me. I started screaming bloody murder.

It's unfortunate for our country to be in this state of chaos.
@@jessicaphogan I feel this comment so much. I’ve been approached two streets over from my house. I won’t go anymore by myself and just find ways to work out in my house. 🥺

I live not too far from there & I can remember the day I heard she was missing like it was yesterday. I was on my lunch break at work & the radio was talking about her/the search efforts, letting everyone know to be on the lookout for her. I've always been drawn to true crime, but her case is what really made me start following it closer. What a sad, horrible, unfathomable loss for her family. So glad to hear Gracie has moved on & is in a better place, with a better man for herself and her children! This is by far the best recount of Sydney's story that I've heard. You did an amazing job, definitely will subscribe to your channel! God's Speed, Sassy!

I imagine women are more likely to be kidnapped but it’s statistically evident that men are more commonly victims of violent crime. Probably just killed and robbed though.

Too bad she wasn't carrying....
This video was so well done and so respectful.. this video brought me to tears and so did her story. So I’m so grateful to have heard her story and you’re right, she will live on forever.
Anyone who puts a defenseless animal into a microwave deserves the death penalty. What a bas*ard!
I cried too. Such a wonderful person who only wanted to help people as a nurse! And her family is such a blessing to her memory. 💔💔🙏✝️😥
I’ve always believed that if we spent the time to get to know the 3 neighbors on the left and right of us that we, as a nation, would be able to prevent many kidnappings, murders and abuses. It greatly humbles me that, in this case, it might not have mattered. Rest In Peace Sydney.

the quote comparing him to how the devil sometimes walks amongst us gave me chills
Push him off his bike; was he on his bike when he tried to grab you? If not just kick him hard in the nuts 🥜.
