I was in the Army. In the Infantry. Probably have cumulative hours of legitimate close combat experience in Iraq. Not once in all the years I’ve been back have I ever had an experience that triggered me to chase down, yell at and “negligently discharge” my firearm at another motorist. This dude is a joke. Also, get as mad as you want at me on the road, I WILL NOT engage with you. It’s never worth it.
I was Marine infantry and also have some combat under my belt and I completely agree that this guy is a joke. I hate that he’s using his little bit of service training as an excuse for being a complete tool.
Exactly. If being in the military teaches anyone anything it's that weapons of whatever sort are dangerous and should be kept under proper security at all times. Just find it hard to believe that anyone with that kind of training would leave guns and ammunition rattling around in the back seat of his car. Bet you anything some of them were loaded too, he's lucky he didn't shoot himself in the back. PS thank you for your service.
Not in combat nor the Army, I was a Navy guy but when he blamed his reaction on his "training" I rolled my eyes, then he said he only made it through Basic and some AIT before getting discharged it really made me nauseated that he was even claiming his "training" made him react this way. I have observed that many of the hyper military types are the ones who were booted out of the service, maybe trying to compensate or something.
As a veteran myself, I absolutely loathe people that claim their failure to act like a decent human being was due to their "training" and just "reacting to contact". Especially the niece. I am assuming that she was present in court during all of the testimony, so would have heard that it was her action of throwing the cup of water, or whatever it was, that was the cause of the deadly reaction. I'm not justifying it at all - but if I had been in her place, and learned that my action caused that reaction, I would be playing that over and over again for the rest of my life in my mind, and wishing I could have a do-over. 😥 That's tough.
This guy’s a construction worker, acting like a combat vet with PTSD. He’s a coward. Combat vets are not trained to kill a mom with kids in a mini van. He never would have exchanged words if the young mom was a big, scary guy. He would have flipped him off and took off. Who shoots a mom while she’s driving after warning him she has kids in the car? Shooting her center chest means she will crash and potentially kill the kids. He meant to do it. Or, he wouldn’t have shot her. 17 years... society, be warned.

His honesty AFTER getting caught mean nothing to me, but clearly it meant something to the judge who handed down his sentencing smh.
Man states he has training and a .40 caliber firearm that he keeps next to him but does not understand what an actual negligent discharge is. Every gun owner knows that you do not point a weapon at a person or thing unless you intend to destroy that thing. That was not a negligent discharge; that was murder.
But he’s saying the reaction was pointing the gun. Not firing it. Like there was no thought to him pointing the gun, it just happened. I’m not saying it’s right or factual, I’m just saying that’s what he said. So it’s not like he said he made the decision to point the gun, and then it just went off.

That is hands down the most accountable father I’ve ever watched interview. It was emotional watching him have to talk about this whole incident. Prayers
He was whining about being afraid of his son finding out he spoke to the cops
@@yeetmama I feel bad for the guy, but wtf are people making a hero out of him? Anyone with an ounce of humanity would have acted the same way; only bad people would make it all about their son or themselves. We congratulating people for being normal now? This is how low society has stooped?

@@elizabethbennet4791 true. Everything you said is totally true.
That poor, poor man. It hurts my heart to see him like this, and it hurts even more so to hear him caution the officer by saying, “-don’t give your life up for it.” The strength and courage that it must’ve taken to be honest to that degree- about knowing the truth of who and what his son is and is capable of- is something I would never wish upon anyone. Your children are supposed to be the best part of you in the eyes of many parents. And finding that your child has not presented themselves as such has to be the most difficult thing imaginable.
Oh my gosh, it nearly broke my heart when Chris' Dad started crying. RIP Whitney, and I really hope her niece is doing OK, that must have been such an awful thing to have to deal with at only 16.
I just hope it taught her that throwing things at a strangers vehicle after her aunt pulled out in front of a vehicle then when he passed minding his own business the woman provoked what led to her own death. People need to be teaching children not to instigate violence.
Three kids traumatized
@@amyhood6510 while what you are saying is partially true. Road rage that minimal doesnt warrant shooting someone let alone brandishing your pistol.
Secondly, guy was doing like 70 in what seems to be at max 40, she likely couldnt tell he was feloniously speeding because he didnt get his donuts.
You also neglect the fact this all stemmed because your homeboy chris, didnt get his donut
@AlfieArmani this is all true. What do you think people would be saying if that man shot the niece for throwing water at him? Everyone would be blaming Whitney for telling her neice to throw the cup. She made terrible decisions also.
@@hopefulhuman no.... it wouldnt of been whitneys decision to shoot the pistol and murder someone over a simple arguement... your mindset is the reason gun control is ever an arguement in the first place.
Just because someone is mean to your or rude or does something you dont like at all.... doesnt give you the right to kill them. No matter what.
Great, honest dad. I told my daughter the same thing. You end up in jail don't call me. You did it to yourself. I feel so bad for him. Bless him. Prayers for him and her family
My mom said to call her so she knew I was safe but not for bail❤ but yes, same. I also wouldn't have done that to my mom though.
I felt so bad for his Father too. So sad, a momemt of rage, destroyed so many lives. This is a cautionary tale to others. 😢
This guy saying never having combat training in the Army is a lie. I spent 6 years in the Army and had combat and tactical training. He purposely shot that woman, because he is not right in the head. He needs to be put in prison for life. Possibly the death penalty for murder/homicide
He’s a very immature, self serving liar.
That’s a strange way to act for something hitting you car. Dude was probably hammered when he went to that convenient store lookin for beer. You notice he lied in the interview and didn’t say what the city said he said
@ChadwickHoffman calling it pretty much accident is a crock. He grabbed the gun. He took it from the holster. He sped up to get a better angle. He had to consciously turn, and aim at the windshield and fire. What part of that spells accidental discharge (or whatever it's called)?
He didn’t go to AIT. He was discharged after boot camp. He’s ignorant, what do you expect?

Muscle memory he pointed weapons in that direction many times
Many Americans have a bunch of guns, but aren't itching to shoot anyone.
He had packed up all his belongings and started driving, he was in panic mode and didn't know what to do. That is why all the weapons were in his vehicle.
He will get prison justice in prison. Who shoots a mom with kids!
😆 thas right.
His training made it feel "natural"... to point a loaded weapon at a car with a woman and 3 children in it?!!
Right?? From the little I know, I thought that training also teaches you how to identify a threat in a 'combat' situation, and not just fire instantly at anything that moves.
... all that training as a graphic artist
And he said that he knew it was water that hit his car. hes a liar.

Not the niece's fault obviously but I'm sure she will live with the guilt of throwing that water for a very long time. Also, notice the distancing language he uses: "I couldn't believe what had happened" instead of "I couldn't believe what I had done." Already setting up his defense of some kind of PTSD meltdown.
Cup of water vs Firearm…….
Yeah, that man was living in fear or anger all his life. A cup of water isn’t exactly lethal, his life wasn’t in danger to the point where he needed the handgun to defend himself.
