    I love the look of the Xpeng P7. Yes, it looks like the Model S, but they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I’m excited about being able to invest in Xpeng very soon I hope. I have been searching every thing I can on them and it’s looking pretty good. It appears they are in the Top 5 BEV company’s out of China, and they are imitating Tesla in all the ways they can right now.

    I remembered all of the so called questions about the design language and they still had the grill which is a design language from ICE vehicles. No matter how sleek an EV looks, a grill throws it off.

  • @bazoo513
    @bazoo513 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Re: German case - when one activates "one swipe" via stalk, wipers menu "floats to the surface" on the screen, so it is not necessary to dig deep in the menu tree in order to adjust them. But the place for this kind of controls is stalks. Tesla simply wanted to make stalks cheaper.
    BTW, if you are satisfied with Tesla auto-wipers, you must be the only one.

    • @cleantechnica
      @cleantechnica  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm I have heard multiple Tesla owners that were quite satisfied with auto wipers (after an update that is), some say its too fast, so say it's too slow, some say it's just right. In my limited experience I was 95% happy with the autowiper performance.

    • @bazoo513
      @bazoo513 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@cleantechnica I was exaggerating, obviously. But dissatisfaction with auto wipers is a pretty common theme in Tesla owners' videos, and Tesla _does_ keep fiddling with them.
      In my opinion, it is a matter of applying appropriate technology: Musk once tweeted that they fed their neural network millions of images of rain, drizzle and splash on the windscreen in order to "teach" it to handle wipers. Other people put a $0.99 total reflection sensor up there, equip one of the stalks with a ring with which the driver selects sensitivity, and get much better results.
      Have you read Douglas Adams? Arthur Dent wants a cup of tea aboard _Heart of Gold._ there is a kind of a vending machine, which analyzes his brainwaves for mood and tastes, stomach and saliva chemistry etc, and comes up with something "almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea". All he wanted was a bag of _Englich Breakfast_ and some hot water.
      "More advanced" is not always better.

    NIO back room computer systems? Tesla seems to have clusters of Nvidia servers working on the AutoPilot software.
    Cadillac has lost market share. Now they struggle to find a new niche customer base. Cadillac used Volt drive train, but tried to charge +~ $20,000 extra over Volt (must verify) [read over priced]

    I think you are being a bit too harsh to GM ("fakeness" of the presentations notwithstanding - that _is_ both annoying and a kind of sad) for about their Cadillac Lyric - it is a brave leap to touch the "rich grandfather's" brand. As for stressing "skateboard" design, well, it _is_ new for Cadillac, and many electric SUVs and crossovers on the market, which are adaptations of ICE vehicles. Lyric is not.

    • @cleantechnica
      @cleantechnica  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe, but I haven't shared all the details of what went down in GMs EV day. I mean a press event that only allows handwritten notes and even then only invited cherry picked journalists (this is no joke) it should indicate what I mean. It's a great step for GM but they are not yet serious about EVs.

      Well a comp my can IPO all they want, only how promising the company is and their Financials will drive investments. Though in the area of electric vehicles there are not thst many promising companies or startups in the US when it comes to EVs, I mean there is Tesla, Lucid Motors, Lordstown, where was Riviam based again? But these Chinese EV startups are some of the most interesting becuase they are not afraid to copy, not afraid to be different and can do a lot of things for a cheaper price.

    As for "stolen autopilot code", X-pend auto parks flawlessly, while in Tesla it is a bad joke. Just saying... And isn't Tesla autopilot code supposed to run on their own magical chipset, not something subpar from newbies like Nvidia? Also, isn't the point of Tesla's Autopilot the enormous amount of real-world driving data to train their neural networks?

    • @cleantechnica
      @cleantechnica  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yea, good points. Though beforentheir own SOC Tesla used Nvidia chips as well. Also if Xpemg stole anything, it's already quite out of date and stealing something fresher is not longer possible due to HW3.

    • @cleantechnica
      @cleantechnica  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well on the one hand if it's something like a zombie apocalypse and tons of cars around, if you can jump start cars you have no problem (though risk setting off an alarm) an EV is also more silent, though you can always pump gas from other cars. In most apcalyse movies the only electricity left is either diesel generators or solar panels, both of which could charge an EV. But for those preparing for the apocalypse, you can live in the middle of nowhere with solar panels and be safe and Independent, not the case with gas cars and diesel generators.

      Yes I see that my word choice should have been different, however coming up with a concept and actually mass producing it are 2 very very very different things. There are so many concepts and patents that never became anything, I don't know about you or others but unless it's a scientific breakthrough like a discovery, ubless it's that, I give credit to the company to actually use it in a product brought to market, preferably on a large scale, mass manufactured.
