I started playing Megaman Star Force for the first time last year, I still need to finish it, but I loved playing it, so you couldn't believe how happy I was seeing Sonia Strumm in the Top 10 of Japan's most voted female characters.
Of course, as a fan of Megaman, it's great to see it performing so well in fan rankings, same with Ace Attorney, and considering that Okami has more or less just been rereleases of the first game for around ten years (not a complaint, I'm glad it's so available) but the real shocker to me, in an awesome way, is Breath of Fire! There hasn't real been a new game in over two decades, and only the first two are available on any modern platform currently, both locked behind Switch Online. I absolutely adore the series, so it's great to see it's not forgotten! Also, Dino Crisis fans showed the heck up for this one, wow xD
A lot's being asked for with this survey and I know it's probably unreasonable to expect Capcom to do it all, but I hope they at least consider doing more than just their mainstays from this. Really curious about Dino Crisis now and didn't know that about BoF being on NSO. Guess I need the expansion pass.
@@ExploDjinn I mean, the first two Breath of Fire games are on Super NES, so you just need the basic ($20 a year) version of NSO. I still hope the series gets a full Legacy Collection treatment at some point though. If you have a PS3, both Dino Crisis games and Breath of Fire IV are available on there still for only $5.99 a piece!
I didn't think we'd get more than the word bubble but alright. I think I said capcom needs to communicate with their fans better and I put X as my favorite character but I'm not 100% was else I had put on there
I'm hoping this is at least a step in the right direction towards better communication. And X probably would have been my second pick, so excellent choice.
*Edit:* ExploDjinn went into this a little more near the end of the video and... I could actually see it being a video in and of itself. A _lot_ of people struggle with comprehending such information in context. Or you could just have fun with it by showing how many Street Fighters there are versus how many Mega Men. XD *End Edit* I think the big issue with this poll is something you touched on in the video: *Cannibalization!* Which is me intentionally choosing a crazy sounding term for what kept happening: *splitting the fanbase!* Could still be more copium, but I wonder how many fighting game fans were torn not just because they wanted to shout out something like Dino Crisis or Mega Man they thought "needed" it more, but even if someone's favorite is a "Street Fighter" game... *which one?* You've got side series like Alpha. You've got the "Does it count?" stuff like Street Fighter X Mega Man or X-Men VS Street Fighter. You've got multiple versions of the same game; *"What is your favorite Street Fighter II?* could have been a legitimate question for this poll. @_@ This is also why I favor polls like this going with a "Rank the following" approach rather than just "Pick One". I wouldn't be surprised if Street Fighter (as a franchise) is in the Top 3 for a significant amount of the video game playing public.
Ah, ranked choice voting. I'm a fan, but that might be a bit more complex than Capcom would want to do for a costumer survey. And yeah, you are right, some people could have definitely pushed aside their actual favorites in favor of those they thought needed the votes more.
I have to call BS on DMC or whatever doing that well considering DMC: Peak of Failure. You are telling me the fanbase is that big a.nd they can't carry a rough phone gacha even a little bit? Mega Man fans carried X Dive for years. Maybe a mega fan botted DMC votes or something. I'm not surprised Sonia is the most popular heroine, either. I think she's got the most seasonal renders of any heroine. If I ranked the Mega Man heroines, it would definitely be like this. 1. Sonia 2. Roll (Legends) 3. Mayl/Roll 4. Ashe 5. Adult Aile 6. Luna 7. Roll 8. Loli Aile 9. Ciel 10. Alia (assuming Iris isn't actually the X series heroine)
According to Google, DMC 5 sold 6 million, which I'd put more importance on than gatcha. I didn't touch X Dive Online, and I wouldn't want that to be seen as indicative as me not wanting a new mainline.
@@ExploDjinn thanks for taking the time to make this video. I didn't even know that this was a thing. It's encouraging to see that megaman is consistently near the top for multiple categories which hopefully let's Capcom know that we want megaman. I recently just bought the battle network collection and the zero collection and am having so much fun with them. I am 37 so I grew up playing some of the battle network games, but I completely missed the star force games. They look really fun and I hear really good things about them (scout master Demi is always singing their praises) I have a 3ds but the SF games are crazy expensive and I just can't afford to pay 150$ for a used game. But a collection would be a perfect way for me to experience them. Same deal for legends. Although I'm curious if starforce would be as profitable for Capcom as legends. Because let's be honest, it's mostly about profits and they aren't going to spend the money to put a collection together if it's not going to sell well. That actually makes me curious about how well the other collections have sold. I'll need to look that up. Anyways thanks for taking the time torespond to my comment and just for making megaman content in general. I saw your mario and luigi video and I'm really excited for that too. I'm a huge M&L fan and I think that series ties for 1st along with battle network as my favorite rpg series. So I'm really looking forward to that.
YES, X IS IN THIRD PLACE

@@HybridAngelZero And here I thought they'd be with the GBA games. Thanks for the info.

I want a mega man legends collection and megaman star force collection.
Hoping for Starforce next, but it definitely feels like we're due for both.
