Man! I'm hooked. I love the idea and want to build my own. I don't have either component, I'm looking for flat bottom boats 12-14 foot amd an engine that still has available parts years later. Probably a kawasaki. I can weld, and I build custom cars, But one of these bad boys would be absolutely awesome to have. I didn't know you could run in 4inches of water! Thats just awesome for where I live in Kansas cause we can get some shallow waters in our rivers.
Yeah I would go with Kawasaki, but a lot of them still have all parts available. They are some super fun boats and trip you out running in such shallow water.
Derrick you have the best videos on TH-cam! That Jon boat is so cool, are you going to do your new 10’ Jon boat the same on the side raised? How did you weld the sides on your 15’? I think a cheap mud motor 30 HP on the 10’ would be cool.
I appreciate that Phil. I’m not gonna raise the side on that 10 since I’m trying to make it a budget bass boat for the most part. I welded them sides on my 15 with my Hobart 220 welder. A 30hp on that 10 footer would be a screaming little machine. Thanks bud. Hope life is good at the cabin if your out there.
i got the exact same engine..... a 1996 !, i`m putting it in a 100ft. catamaran...... for aug-zil-a-re........ i will be able to raise & lower the engine & jet drive in a pod-module......... down when i need to motor & up when i`m sailing ........ i would like to know how to wire my engine up......
That sounds like a fun little project Sean. That thing is gonna get it when your finished. That sounds like an adrenaline rush taking that boat up a river.
What do you figure you’ll have to do to stop the porpoising? Or did you make that fix already? I’m curious to see what she’ll do when you can open it up more.
I'm going to have to add some sponsons so it will push the the front end down. I just moved into a new house so hopefully I'll get to work on it soon. Thanks bud
I’d venture into a build but I have too many questions. From shape of the hull, grate stompers, overheating in 100 degree weather, complete stainless pump options for salt water, is it better to build a hull or buy? I want to get up in 8 inches of water run in 4-6 inches, completely flat deck no toe rail ( self bailing ), between 6.5 - 7 ft wide and 16 - 17 ft long. I want to beach launch the couple times a year you can around here, I also want to fish the shallow bay systems we have. Average depth in most areas is under 2 ft. Dreams....
I have read up on that jet skis horsepower rating and it was 100 and from everything I have read and gone over there is a loss of around 30% with the jet not being directly in the flow as a outboard would. Does that sound right cliff?
@@TBassFactory The loss is for Jet outboard motors which start their life as a prop motor. ie 60 hp prop outboard becomes a 40 Jet when you replace the prop lower unit with t Jet lower unit. 60/40 . ...but, your jet ski HP is rated for what the jet puts out. No loss

I installed all of the same stuff I took out of the jet ski and wired it up exactly the same. That sounds like a fun project
Putting an 1100 in a 14'.have a 650 12'.like to try grafting intake and pump in

That is alot, but with the right horsepower that could be accomplished. I don't think it is a dream.
Anyone have a cool story about your boat motor?
Jet skis horse Power is measured at the jet Yours is a 100 horsepower at the jet It's probably a 140 or 50 at the crankshaft

Says there's no info on jet Jon's...*doesn't go into any detail*
Less see it on the water
Yeah I gotta get that thing out there. It's a fun little boat.
