    Where do we get new gasket kit that contains all those jets, valves, and gaskets? My bike is a 1977 and it really needs this done. THANK YOU for the diaphragm leak test with you finger on the hole! Fantastic quick trick for such an important part.

    Took my 1972 XS carburetors apart back in 73 or 74. After watching your video, I am surprised my bike even ran after I put it back together. Thought my mind was going, was thinking I moved the clips on that rod thingy up a little to lean out the mixture. Since it has been 50 years, I was very happy to see you tinker with the clips. Still have a few working brain cells left. RIde a Honda CB 500 X now. My tinkering with the bike now is just putting air in the tires.

      I'll be tinkering a little bit more on that CB 360 that I did. For some reason the transmission locked up on me 12 and a half miles away from where we were camped, so yes I'll be tinkering again. Thanks for watching

    Were you able to remove the carbs together as one piece from the engine. Earlier carbs had to be removed separately because of the cam chain adjuster.

    • @outlaw86custom
      @outlaw86custom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the times removing the cap for the chain adjuster you can drop them out together, I've worked on earlier bikes sometime this is not possible. Thanks for watching.

    Great video Mr Miyagi but with respect, they wont be Philips headed screws, they will be JIS screws, [ Stands for Japanese Industrial Standard ] the profile in the screw head is slightly different and so to avoid mushing the heads after they've been in there for years you should therefore use JIS type screwdrivers. Sorry to seem a know -all but it might help someone avoid a lot of hassle in the future.

    1976 Yamaha XS650 Twin. Rebuilt carbs per your video. Install carbs back on bike but the idle runs up by itself to 2,000-3,000 and stays there or after twisting throttle when bike is warm. Doesn't seem to happen when first starting it. Synced both butterflies. What is causing this? Troubleshooting ideas? Could it be air getting in around butterflies? Manifolds? HELP!!

    • @outlaw86custom
      @outlaw86custom  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You probably have an air leak in the manifolds, most of the time that's the main cause. Thanks for watching

    • @WilliamSacket
      @WilliamSacket 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did spray carb cleaner around the carbs where they meet the boots/manifolds and the engine rev did not change up or down. If there was a air leak shouldn't the idle increase?

    What is the cause of my 1980 XS 650 being “ cold blooded” upon start-up. Once it warms up it runs beautiful.

    • @outlaw86custom
      @outlaw86custom  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, it depends a lot on altitude, temperature, carburetor settings spark plug settings, ignition system and some bikes are just are cold blooded to start. Thanks for watching.

    1976 Yamaha XS650C Twin. Very helpful video! Wish video had some close ups during process. Problem we had was the original Main Jet was 122.5 and Pilot Jet was 25. Only rebuild kit (1976-77 XS650) I found was 135 Main Jet and Pilot Jet 27.5. Hope this doesn't cause issues with running to lean or rich. Any recommendations/adjustments needed if there's an issues?

      @LaddtheImpaler ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Miyagi. This is the best place I could find to post, but if you have an email address, I can send you more detail. Talking about these diaphragms.. mine were like seized up hard plastic, so I gently removed them, but I failed to take pictures of the placement of everything. Like on your video, I know the diaphragms fit the slots, but I’m nervous rebuilding these because I had to order new diaphragms. I pulled the old ones out and I’m ready to put the new ones on, but I don’t know exactly where they were sitting or how big of a deal that is. The needle jet lean/rich adjusters are still in the position they were when I pulled them out. I guess my main concern is putting these diaphragms on and missing something other than the simple fact of putting the diaphragms in the slot. It was quick, but you mentioned in the video how these are sitting is important. I look forward to hearing back!

    • @LaddtheImpaler

      I forgot to mention one of the plastic rings on the top of the slide is freely spinning, the other will not move. My gut tells me if this spins out of the notch it could cause issues, so I figure I’d ask the expert to see if this is a real problem.

  • @WilliamSacket
    @WilliamSacket 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I'm thinking of replacing the two air boxes with like K&M air filters. What issues will I have doing this if any? Adjustments to correct any idle, running lean or rich ?

    In other news. After cleaning the carb, I reset the floats to 24mm, and I set the idle screw to the height of a sewing needle on the bench. But when I put the carb back on the bike it ran with an extremely high rev until I shut the bike off.
    What did I do wrong? Did I set the butterfly valves too high? Or did I mess with the floats? The bike also backfired quite a bit.

    • @outlaw86custom
      @outlaw86custom  ปีที่แล้ว

      The idle screw is not what you set the butterflies with it is the screw between the carburetors that you equal out the butterflies. If you've turned the idle up of course it will run at extremely high RPMs and you have not set your butterflies proper. Thanks for watching

    • @outlaw86custom
      @outlaw86custom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You needle valve stuck open a quick little trick you're doing this and sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. You can turn the fuel off on the tank either start the bike and run the carburetors out of fuel or you can drain the carburetor then just open up the fuel on the tank and this will flush any particles that are hanging up the needle valve and you should be good to go.
