Drill two holes in the end of a pair of pliers. Stick you nails through the holes. shop made Snap ring pliers..
I like the detail of your videos. Making short walkthrough with high detail is great for people who are looking for that one odd repair for their motorbike. Cheers.

closed coils on the spring should be at the top with forks not like valve springs at the bottom. good vid tho..

tip with copper sealing washers, if they have only been used once they can be annealed then re-used without extra sealant.
ps, copper head washers on the XS respond well to annealing, the smaller washers on the cases not so well.

Liking the special tool to hold the internals, its certainly "special"
Most just attack the Allen screw from the bottom with a rattle gun!

Rattle gun is fine for disassembly but not great for re-assembly.

    Good stuff!
My mates 81 XS has the right tube rubbed through the chrome!
Is there anyone out there that can re-chrome/grind it?
Oh, and can the bushes in the leg be replaced?
    Cheers

I can't imagine finding someone tothe re-chrome the legs would be difficult, but I have never had it done. You can replace the bushings but I dont know where you would find them.

An industrial hard-chromer can do it. They usually rechrome hydraulic rams on tractors, fork lifts, etc. I've had a few done at a place in Lidcombe, NSW.

@@Peter57808 Take the slider with you. They'll take an ID measurement, chrome the tube, and then grind to size.

Sorry but had to cringe at the fork seal removal with the screwdriver!
Can I suggest that if there is enough room to get the screwdriver blade behind the seal then a slide hammer would do the job!
    Just my thoughts here!

You are right. I should invest in a slide hammer.
