- Battery drain, Battery Draw, No Start on your Dodge Chrysler Caravan? get this checked...There are at least 10 reasons that I know of that will cause this year model Dodge Grand Caravan and the Chrysler Town and Country to continue a drain on your battery, most of these are secrets but Im willing to tell my subscribers and my future subscribers. Such a good video! I can't tell you how much I appreciate a mechanic who can explain things like this man just did. I'm currently being scammed by a Dodge dealer and I wish I could find a mechanic like this gentleman in my area to work on my van because it's just so hard to find someone you can trust. This is excellent information...we have the 2014 30th Anniversary Edition Town and Country fully loaded. Makes sense that it could be that module causing a draw...it just started out of nowhere though 🤔🤔

I just went thru a drain issue with my dad’s PT but it turned out to be two bad batteries in a row... both were Napa Legend batteries like the one you have there & both tested good one day & bad the next, nearly drove me crazy as I kept blaming the car till I finally tried a 3rd battery & never had an issue since.
wow, 2 in a row?? I think this was a non maint free battery, somebody had the caps lifted.. Havent seen one of these in a long time..But as you saw it passed the battery test..good point

Good info. Unfortunately this vehicle is equipped with one of the worst energy management devices, the TIPM. This bastard is responsible for so many electrical problems for Dodge/Chrysler, should be recalled.
Is the bad TIPM only on 2011 models or does it affect newer vehicles, too?

thanks I have a 2017 Ram ProMaster 3500 with that 3.6 liter today I was sitting here and went to start my van and it would start hook the jump box to it and it started right away. engine light was on once it started check code P0562. had the battery tested he said the alternator battery was fine which I bought the battery back in 2020 January and the alternator I got probably that same year. Not sure why that happened. I have a second battery that I use when vehicle is not running. It's charges when I driving but it don't drain from my main battery when it goes dead which it never goes dead. It has gone dead years ago when I would use lot more things connected to it it would beep when it was low. Hasn't done that in years.

We have a 2011 Chrysler 300 with a hemi, if it sits more then 3 or 4 days the battery will be dead. Battery is new alternator is new, does this flash update cover this model as well. Or should i be looking for other things.

I’m still getting a parasitic draw without the Electric Stow N Go feature. I have been hearing in the recent past that the fuel pump continues to run after turning the key off. Have you ran into that issue?
What kind of vehicle do you have?
I have a 2014 Grand Caravan SXT
Yes I have ran into that problem but its usually on the 2011-2013 models with those TIPMs. Not saying it cant happen on a 2014 tho. The fuel pump really at times would stick on and cause the battery to drain. Those TIPMs are backordered so I simply install a relocate fuel pump relay kit,. Make sure you at least starting off with a real good fully charged battery.

@@OnlineMechanicTips The battery and alternator both check out fine at 14 volts so, the charging system is working as designed. I can't seem to figure out why the red low voltage light comes on intermittently. When the vehicle is restarted, the voltage light goes out but comes back on after 20 to 60 minutes of driving or at idle.
Do you think it may be the TIPM cause I just replaced it in June 2020 or perhaps it's a small electrical short somewhere?
@@RichardSpiveyAJr Because the TIPM is a module, if it detects problems, it will likely throw a trouble code..Some scan tools can not read TIPMs. You may need to get TIPM scanned. But it starts with proper connection at the battery terminals, you cannot use those aftermarket battery terminals.

Great vid bro... sorry I came across it so late. My question is: is there any way to get this flash update outside of the dealership? The vehicle was shipped to the caribbean a few years ago from NY... I have a 2008 T&C with electronic stow and I suspect I may be developing this issue.
If the shop in question have the proper scan tool and a subscription with Chysler they can..but guy make sure that alternator doing its job also..keep in mind they are a lot more reasons you battery could be draining over night..thanks for watching, please subscribe

No my friend, your Pacifica would not have this issue, its a more advanced electronic sys. You could easily just have batteries that will not hold a charge. If your van equipped with the start stop option you will likely have 2 batteries. We tend to have to replace those from time to time after testing the battery

Hi, I have a Gr Caravan 2009 with battery drain leak intermitly, everytime i check the battery drain leak, it is fine even after 30mins.
when I take the van normally with departure, road, and park, it's ok, I noticed that when I go in the van, without driving, just go in and lock the doors again, when I come to leave , the battery is dead and does not start, I put a booster pack to go, i think the body computer stay wake up, intermittently, but i'm not sure.
have you ever seen this disorder, do you have any idea of the problem, or a service bulletin for this problem

Hello my friend. Sorry you having these problems. Only known issues I can think of off top my head is the electric seats stuck in full rear position causing drain, and also yes, ive seen modules not go to sleep at all and will cause this. The way I tend to find these problems is by removing loads one by one. This can be a long process but its the only way to narrow down the issue. Typically the draw leaves when the iod fuse removed but that fuse feeds a lot of circuits. Make sure the TSB I mentioned in this video do not apply to your van, if it does, check into that.

@@OnlineMechanicTips Im having issue with my 2017 grand caravan, happened to me 3 times already. I leave it overnight and wont start in the morning. Battery voltage shows 10v only. Jump start seems to be a quick fix. But what I do think is that the module or computer inside seems to stay on even when turned off. Because i hear sounds from time to time while the vehicle is shut down.

Yes, not that they are special. Its that they are a unique design. The 2014 model battery terminals can be replaced. ide get OEM from the dealership.

2016 will work fine then will be completely die 20 minutes later then go back to working fine.
