Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel! This TH-cam channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf equipment reviews, golf instruction & I play against some of the best golfers in the world!
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
I see a lot of comments joking (and some not) about Rick giving advice on aiming straight... I see this as Rick gaining his confidence back in himself and his game! Mega job Rick, keep it up!
Hi Rick, as a Tour Professionnal on The Sunshine Tour in South Africa, I would love to make a content (break 75) with you in Mauritius where I am from! We have DP World Tour golf courses!
Let's make it happen man!!! I hope you read and reply to this comment.💪🇲🇺
love the return of these types of videos .
These are the videos that brought me to this channel, the content overall is what keeps me coming back!
There are a few guys on y.t. i love to try out their tips, rick you are one of them!
This is Rick the GOAT returning to his roots. I certainly appreciate all the tips you can dole out!
This content has already been played out. There are genuinely endless swing tutorials on yt, almost too many.
@@Johndavidson4 equally there are endless opinions yet you felt it necessary to add more.
The Goat? Really??
You have to appreciate quick simple tips that actually work.
Bread and butter videos for Rick will always be tips and equipment reviews. I think between Rick and Pete they are the best ones at tips and reviews.
Been watching your videos for the past 2 and a half years learning how to golf again the right way. I went from left to right-handed ditching all the bad habits I had while I was a lefty and have been able to shoot way lower rounds and enjoy the game much more. I've slowly put together a pretty good set of clubs these past few years and also got all 5 of my kids into golf while doing so. Love all your videos but especially the teaching and tips ones. I'd like to say thank you I the most sincere way that I can't describe on a post. You've help me enjoy a game that I love and also bring my family closer together at the same time. Thank you.
I appreciate your videos. Sounds so easy! Just do the 12 things that need to be done during a golf swing, and do them right, and you'll be fine!
You thrive as a teacher, Rick. You just seem so energized, exuberant, and passionate about it. It's the happiest you've looked the past few videos. Keep helping as many people as you can improve, grow, and learn to enjoy the game you love.
Golden nuggets of instruction. Thanks Rick!
Thank you for some great advice, I find it easy to follow and not intimidating
Great tips!!! My son was really struggling with aim and we worked tirelessly on picking out a point a few feet in front of him. It made a world of difference for him!
Thanks Rick, good to see some tips and educations alongside the other content !
On tip two, use spine angle as a good checkmark of being square throughout the backswing. Justin Thomas would do this in his pre shot routine to be in a proper P-2 position, and this is what Rick is saying in the video
One thing my coach told me to help with face angle was to imagine the toe (or heel) arriving earlier. Always struggled with an open club face, but for some reason, visualizing this really helped me to shut it - hope it helps someone else out there struggling with chronic pushes!
Hey Rick! Great to see you getting back to your TH-cam roots with this super instructional video. Thanks for these great tips!
This is exactly what I’m working on. Trackman is an incredible tool for trying to dial in and to really see your flaws instead of feeling them. Would love to see a HIT video on this with some numbers and tips.
Great video. Cheers Rick 👍 I’ve used your 1st tip for many years now, and it’s really helped with my aiming at a target. The other 2 tips are also good. Look forward to trying them.
Thanks Rick a real clear and precise video, I slice alot, figures its raining now ,but I can't wait to get back out there, and try these three steps targeting square face swing path GOT IT!
Fantastic video, Rick. These are such important points and this is a great video for all golfers to know and remember. Thanks for putting this all together. Looks great! 👍🏼
great to be showing practice of the basics again. driving range this afternoon for me.👍
Been a while since an instructional issue. Glad its back! While the info is simple and more of a fundamental thing, its still good to have as a reminder. If i may offer a suggestion, id like more drills and such to help solidify different issues, much like you did in tip number 3 here. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Rick! I always love when you instruct. Would love to have a lesson with you.
This is so helpful Keep this up Rick you are so helpful.
Going to try these out this weekend. thanks!
Rick that simple alignment stick tip really helps shape the ball properly. I tend to have a draw, and I can't wait to continue training myself to swing more out to in. Rick, you're the man
Ideally you want to be able to move it at will in both directions. I like Bernhard Langers lesson on that, it's quite simple.
Thank`s Rick. Great simple trick
definitely good simple tips. I try and do some of those adjustments with my driver slicing issue
Excellent video!
I hope Rick watches this! 😂❤
😂
LMFAO, had to come back to this comment, it took me a minute to get it.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I was looking for this comment! Rick's signature move is getting stuck on the inside and flipping his hands through impact 😂
🤣😂🤣😂!
Great stuff rick 👍 good timing too since the season is opening up. Thanks
Hey Rick thanks. I'm guilty for not aiming, going to focus on that this season.
Physician, heal thyself. ;-)
Nice to see you putting out some instructional vids again, this is great content expressed very clearly and simply. Wasn't that long ago that this seemed to be the focus of the channel, instead of "watch Rick play XXX course, over 7400 yards at this fabulous locale, and try to break 75 while accompanied by a previous major winner". Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE that content as well. But shorter vids like this have got to be way easier to produce, way easier on your mental well-being, and will definitely do more in terms of "game improvement" for your viewers.
So maybe next time you start off a Break 75 and you're +3 after two holes, just relax a bit and focus on aim, clubface, and path. :-)
like the aim part, never thought of that before, will be trying that out next time I am on the course
so great seeing a new tips video this is mega- the reason I started watching in the first place!!
I am fascinated with the number of people that think you have to be a great golfer to offer tops and advice, to each his/her own
I like the tips
First of another excellent lesson!! Rick I'm a big fan of yours and many other TH-cam golfers. I love the testing of new clubs and see how that stack-up. Anyways I have a request of a club I want you to test out if you could. I know for a fact you never tested it before.
When are you going to utilize these tips in your own game Rick?
😂jokes aside these really helped me with my game. Thank you for continuing to teach ❤
loved these tips! I hope you plan on doing more teaching videos 🙏
Superb stuff Rick, fundamentals that we can all refresh at the range vs aimlessly smacking balls (ignore the haters)
I have never heard of this before! Wow! Great tips!
Really great tips Rick tip one i have no problems with but tip 2 and 3 is where i struggle lol thank-you again Rick , This should bring my game back . Ps love watching yr content as always
In my pre-shot I'll intentionally aim too far right, waggle, then aim too far left, waggle. So, in the middle of those two extremes, I set-up and go.
It works well near the pin as you can use the pin as your left or right aim point depending on the break.
Similar to your 1 or 11 o'clock, with 12 being dead straight.
That was actually really helpful :)
Great video
Rick knows the weather is getting better outside, timely video 🤝
Just video I needed rn
Say what you like about ricks game at the moment but I’m my opinion he explains and teaches as well as any other TH-camr if not better also the editing made it even better Great video Rick I enjoyed it. Guarantee you were an awesome pga coach
a nice help might be to explain how you get a divot after the ball, my main thing right now is that my low point is p much at the ball instead of after it
Thanks for the tips Rick
great new graphics! looks sharp.
another great video I've recently took golf back up and watched a lot of your videos. my driver shot is solid (distance would like to see more but direction is good) I'm middle game (irons) is my weak point and you have helped so thank you!
another note id love to play a round against you (but the par is raised by 1 or 2 for me just so I have a slight chance haha)
Still good advice. Thx Rick and Team
Great top tips, rick
Great video Rick you should watch it!
Don’t understand all the hate! Thanks for the video Rick! Much appreciated. Got my start with my swing watching your videos!
I need ball striking tips/drills next :)
Great tips
I would love to see you play golf at Ullna Golf Club (Stockholm, Sweden). It's a stunning course.
Rick, I’ve always enjoyed playing golf. But I’ve been too afraid to go since I hit a moving golf cart from about 20 yards with an iron back in ‘10. Any advice?
Would be great if you start applying this in your own rounds then as well Ricky!
Instead of shaping every single shot possible.
Good advice ❤
Someone should send this to Rick Shiels.
For me it’s usually always grip. Grip influences my club face direction the most out of any tip. It I hit it right I know I’m too loose with the grip, it I pull it left I know I’m way to stiff and my hands are turning over. Best tip that was given to me personally, my score dropped significantly after learning how much grip influences the direction.
Grip IS the aim; it’s literally everything.
Wow, Rick Shields showing us how to hit the ball straight.I must take some notes😂
Top tips my friend
Ricky I'm gonna have to watch this video again when Ontario decides to have better weather.
i hook the ball but my path is actually out to in ...i cut across the ball
can i still use the drill and point the alignment stick at 1 o clock? im currently working on trying to swing from in to out
I love Rick's channel and this is great advice from a great teacher.
I have to admit that the title made me chuckle ever so slightly 😂
Hi Rick i have been playing golf since I was 5 in 78 .playing 45 yrs now many local tournaments and i can tell you i love all your videos woukd love ti someday play with you here in the us
You should do the PXG challenge.
Use slow motion & then regular speed so we can more absorb what you are teaching us.
What if you do all different directions of shot at any given time? 🤔
Saw you on 14 club challenge
That lil draw is sweet
amazing
Wheres the link to the grip video?
Rick. How come you don't post anything on your HIT channel? Such a nice set up and I don't see you using it for content. 🤔😢
Do you ever stop in the backswing to check you hand position Rick ?
Masters is in about 2 weeks and the golf bidder match comes out after that. But why on the podcast did you spoil the video? I’m a long time fan of course but why did you guys speak about the results of a video that isn’t out yet and will obviously be highly anticipated. Was it a slip up? I really am struggling to grasp that.
Thanks, Rick!
No worries!
So what do you do when your ball goes 50 yards with every single club dead straight with 0 power whatsoever
Serious question,
I want your thoughts on why a pro ( yourself ) can hit mint shots like this video but have horrendous rounds?? I understand the common reasons, mindset, body issues, conditions etc but if you can produce these shots on the range repeatedly then I wonder why you have rounds in the high 80’ 90’s?
He doesn’t repeatedly have rounds in 90’s, that’s nonsense. His last video was a 73. He will have had some bad rounds which end up in the 80’s but he’s been playing some of the toughest courses from the tips these last 6 months or so. If he were to play generic uk courses on a decent day, distance of course being between 5500-6300 yards, he’d shoot in the 70’s more often than not. He’s not amazing (doesn’t claim to be) but he’s pretty good. There are a lot of players at my club and loads other clubs and whose handicaps are between 0 and 4, who are pretty good (yet have some horrendous shots and rounds on occasions) and he’d fall within that category very easily . Think a lot of golfers and golf fans are so out of touch with what the concept of a ‘scratch golfer’ is or what’s required to play to that level
Rick got basic errors in his swing. He gets stuck on the inside and flips his hands through impact. He can hit good shots but it will never be consistent. And he's simply not able to apply his instructions to his own game. His swing path and club head control is horrendous to be honest. And then there are the issues with his short game of course.
You should now break 75 anywhere with this refresher lesson.
Cool 👌
Sound video, great work as always, however I can’t help but think that most of Ricks subscribers (being avid golf enthusiast, all desperate to improve), will know these basics already.
Think more detailed and granular teaching would help people find the feels they need. 👍🏼
I also watch your breaking 75, so I’m guessing this is a parody.
I think Rick made this video for himself 😉
Rick really needs to watch a video to show you how to hit straighter shots.
Rick of all people giving out advice on how to hit straight shots lol
The reason I was headed here!
Do as I say not as I do.
I only hit bad shots on videos to make them 'relatable' 👀😂
The dude is a 5 handicap I’m pretty sure he can give us 15 plus handicap golfers some tips!
Golf Theory is different than reality
How do u stop from topping ur ball to much?
Wheres the grip video? No link bubs
Path is definitely the most difficult for amateurs to get right as most come over the top.
Something happens to you Rick on the course that doesn't happen on the range. Something in your mindset. Maybe everything speeds up because you're so much more relaxed here and the results are better.
I get rather confused, there’s lots of TH-camrs and PGA instructors trying to teach the holy grail of hitting it straight, then there’sthen there’s another crowd of instructors and TH-camrs saying that hitting it straight is the hardest shot and always go for a small draw or fade. Confusing!
I want Guy to show Rick this video the next time he makes a double bogey on the course 🤣
Dunno what it is with Rick.
He has a good looking swing, can drive 280 yards, knock it to 10-15 feet from 120 yards out, and can drain a few long putts. But never seems to put all those elements together on the same day.
What gets me more as a person new to the game is that unlike me, Rick actually knows how to hit good shots and what causes bad shots. If I hit a bad shot I don't always know why, and thus repeat the mistake until I learn how to correct it. where as Rick knows why and then does the same thing again on the next hole.
Rick got basic errors in his swing. He gets stuck on the inside and flips his hands through impact. You'll never get consistent golf with that. He's simply not able to apply his instructions to his own game.
I'll side with Tiger on this one.
So excited to watch all the new golf channels that will soon be popping up from all the people telling you you aren’t good enough to give a lesson 😂
Hi Rick
Hi mate!
@@RickShielsPGARick just wondering if I can get your opinion I have just ordered a TaylorMade sim driver and I already have a pxg 0811 x but I’m planning on taking one of them to Spain just wondering which one would you say is better for distance and forgiveness?
