Love this game. And music is great. As an adult I would still listen to Sonic music on my Spotify, and other than the camera angles and a few bugs it’s a dope game to play. Especially trying to A rank all stages and getting 180 emblems which I recently just accomplished. Took me 64 hours 😅
There are some bangers in here for sure. I love a lot of the sonic music library, across all the franchise there are some big hits. Rooftop Run is probably my favorite.
So since you mention this in the video "A lot of that fun and coolness is built on the back of nostalgia", I have no connection to Sonic and never played one and I always disliked everything Sonic a lot and found every single game really clunky and not interesting at all. I can't understand the hype when every game is pretty mediocre, I guess the advertisement is at fault for brainwashing a lot of people. All the music makes me cringe so bad......Bring the lynchmob!! XD The edits with the sad music😆 Let's see how many parts I can stomach of this lol.
GET HIM!!! No, I agree with you. The only two Sonic game I think I've truly enjoyed was Generations and half of Unleashed. I like Unleashed and Colors, but they are both chock full of pretty terrible content, but there are sparks of greatness to be found. For unleashed though, you gotta stay clear of the Wii Version. For this game, I had seen playthroughs and speed runs of it online when I was younger (shout out Speed Demos Archive), but never owned it. I had Sonic Heroes though, which is soooooo bad. People hold this game in high regard, but the reality is: it's very flawed, and for a lot of people, the positive memories come from the earlier and iconic portions of this game and its final battles. Everyone forgets the terror that is the middle. Plus the Chao Garden stuff, which we didn't do here, but I know people could sink hours upon hours as kids on, which is what I specifically thinking of when I say "built on the back of nostalgia." You remember spending hours raising and playing with Chaos, but you don't remember the horror that was the Knuckles Death Chamber, or Meteor Herd. Part 4 of this series...oh lord.
