Setting the Oklahoma Joe's Bronco Up For Grilling - Grilling Two Ribeye Steaks & Hasselback Potatoes

  • Alright, you guys have been loving the Oklahoma Joe's Bronco videos, so i’m sticking to them while switching it up. Today we’re using the Bronco as a grill instead of a smoker and grilling up some beautiful ribeye steaks! Also attempting hasselback potatoes for the first time, this should be fun….
Step 1. Flavor: Steaks don’t really need much, salt and pepper will do just fine. Today I’m going to test out the Plowboys Bovine Bold and Whiskey Bent The Grind seasonings, mainly out of boredom.
Step 2. Convert: While i let the steaks rest i’m going to use this time to convert the Bronco from a smoker to a grill. I remove everything from the inside and then put it back in. I start with the heat deflector, then the ash pan, followed by the coal basket and then finally the grate. This Bronco is very versatile, you can arrange it how you see fit, this is what i chose to do for my cook today.
Step 3. Coals: I’m using a Weber Chimney to light my coals today. I’m filling the chimney to the top with Kingsford Blue. Once all of the coals are lit I will attempt to pour them to one side of the charcoal basket in the Bronco. I pour to one side to create an indirect heat, I do this so I have room to take the steaks off the direct heat if needed. Once i have the coals situated i put the grate back on, close the lid and give it some time to come up to temp.
Step 4. Grillin: After about 10 minutes the Bronco should be hot, now you’re ready to throw the steaks on. I’m cooking mine Medium, which works out to be 5-7 minutes per side, I’ll rotate 90 degrees midway though because I'm Boujee and like grill marks. Once the steak reaches your desired temp pull it off the pit and let it rest at least 10 minutes.
Step 5. Eat: After the 10 minutes is up you’re ready to eat!!
POTATOES - I chose not to include the breakdown for the hasselback potatoes on purpose, they didn’t turn out how I'd like and I would feel bad passing that info on to you. I will perfect them though, they’ll be in a future video.
Hope you all enjoyed this video, please let me know if there is anything else you’d like to see!
As always, thank you for watching, see you next Wednesday!

How do you clean your inside bbq pit? I get a lot of grease at the very bottom

I rinse and degrease about once a year. I use Citrusafe in the bottom and high pressure water in everything else.
