    I always celebrate how you leave just enough bite in your ribs 🏆. Phrases that are a detrimental to the modern day Meatopia:

    - All white meat

    I looked at one of these and was impressed how thick and sturdy everything was.
    I just have two concerns really.
    If I’m hanging ribs is it not going to burn the lower portion since it’s closer to the coals?
    My other concern is if my temps start dropping and coals start burning down how the hell are you suppose to add more without literally unloading everything?

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  ปีที่แล้ว

      I flip the ribs to give me equal cooking. This is a pretty big charcoal basket but yes you would have to pull out the top part to add more coal. Not really that big of a deal though. Thanks for watching!

    • @johnlukin985

      @@DeadBrokeBBQ Thanks for the reply. I do find the flimsy bottom vent on the PBC to be very annoying (keeps falling back down to the 'neutral' position no matter how much I try to tighten the screw), and would prefer more temp control. That said, I should've bought something different to suit my tinkering disposition.

    New to smoking on a Bronco here. Question: During your start up with getting coals hot I noticed you closed the Bronco lid. Shouldn’t it be open to release the dirty smoke until we see clean smoke and then close the lid? Is there a difference?

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nah if you leave it open too long the temps will sky rocket! After a while that white smoke dies off. Plus that little bit ain't going to matter, you just don't want it to smoke for a couple hours that way. hard to mess up a barrel cook! Start it up and run it till they are tender! I have the Longhorn and love it. but I want another bbq and I'm really thinking about this one. But on average that you see whats the distance between the coals and the bottom of the ribs? My concern that its too close and the bottom will cook more than the top section of the rib. Also is there enough gap in the lid area to use a rib rack and smoke that way?

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ

    Thanks for the video man. Wife just brought one and I can't wait to use it.
    Questions for you on fire control unless you have a video of it.
    1. Is it better to use briquet charcoal instead of lump charcoal?
    2. I saw that you have the basket full of charcoal unlit and then you poured some on top, is that a smoking method or do you have another reason behind it?
    3. At any point, did you have to add more coal or lit charcoal to keep the smoke going or what you started off with was enough to carry it through?

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Troy
      #1 I use briquettes
      #2 You can start the basket or use a chimney which I prefer because I know I have enough running so I can get going quicker.
      #3 I have never had to add anymore charcoal during a cook. If I do a pork butt low n slow I just add a lot more charcoal.
      This really is an easy pit to run, just set your intake and and stack vent at the temp you want to run it at and let it roll! You will have a few temp swings but all pits have that!! Good luck and have fun brother!!

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ

      On these drums if you leave the lid open too long the charcoal with start to flame up a bit. But I rotate the ribs so they cook evenly. The charcoal is around 4 or 5 inches away.
