My other concern is if my temps start dropping and coals start burning down how the hell are you suppose to add more without literally unloading everything?
I flip the ribs to give me equal cooking. This is a pretty big charcoal basket but yes you would have to pull out the top part to add more coal. Not really that big of a deal though. Thanks for watching!

New to smoking on a Bronco here. Question: During your start up with getting coals hot I noticed you closed the Bronco lid. Shouldn’t it be open to release the dirty smoke until we see clean smoke and then close the lid? Is there a difference?
Nah if you leave it open too long the temps will sky rocket! After a while that white smoke dies off. Plus that little bit ain't going to matter, you just don't want it to smoke for a couple hours that way. hard to mess up a barrel cook! Start it up and run it till they are tender! Thanks for watching!
I have the Longhorn and love it. but I want another bbq and I'm really thinking about this one. But on average that you see whats the distance between the coals and the bottom of the ribs? My concern that its too close and the bottom will cook more than the top section of the rib. Also is there enough gap in the lid area to use a rib rack and smoke that way?
I like to flip them end for end so they cook more evenly and that always helps. This little drum works pretty dang good especially for the price! Thanks for watching!!

My ribs (according to my MEATER thermometer is showing my St Louis ribs to be done in only 2-1/2 hours at temp of 275. Is that bad?
Nope as long as they are tender that is all you are hoping for! Maybe next time back it down a bit but mine held at 275° the best when I was smoking on it. Thanks for watching!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ Ot was smoking. Honestly they were not very tender. It was my first time doing St Louis ribs. I prefer baby backs. Not a fan.
Instead of double hooking I just cut them in half before I put them on. That way you don't have to worry about burning at the bottom and a man down.
Yep if you are not doing a lot of them that works great. Thanks for watching!
Great video Ricer! Ribs looked great, Dale is insane..lmao!😂 I couldn't pull off a video with all those people...ya did great, thanks for sharing, have a great one brother, you all stay safe!👍
Ha ha ya Craig Dale certainly has a few screws loose but that is why him and I have been friends for so dang long!!! hahaha Ya I started to get a little side tracked at times during the filming because I just wanted to get drunk and in the next one I think you might be able to tell that the wine was kicking in gear!!! ha ha Have a great week bro!!
I’m getting thee impression you’ve lost a rack or two to the charcoal basket a few times 😂
Hahaha yes Kirk twice it happened to me and once I caught it on film!!! hahaha Thanks for watching and i hope you have a great week bro!!!
Amazing video ricer
Thanks PaPa!! Glad you enjoyed it brother!!
Do you use the ash tray beneath the charcoal basket
Yes I have it in there. Makes clean up so much easier!! Thanks for watching and have a great week!!
So what was your total cook time?
Can't remember but I always figure 4-5 for ribs.
Why not use the deflector plate?
Never used one in any of the 50 gallon barrels so no need for one on ribs in here eother. Plus you get a little more room. Thanks for watching!
Where can I get those hangers?
Mine came with thep it. Maybe on their website?? Thanks for watching!
Where did you get the spritzer?
Hi Todd here is the one I have Orange Spritzer: amzn.to/2XY9YWa they run out of them a lot but they do have 2 different sizes. Hope this helps!! Thanks for watching!!
Wait...a water pan is an option?
Yep you can put a water pan in this pit!
Where can I get one of those blowers your using? TY
BBQ Guru and they make many different ports for almost every cooker! Thanks for watching!! The UltraQ is expensive but it works better than anything I have ever used!!
Yo bro, what's in the spray please,? Thanks
Half apple cider vinegar and water.
Love your video man. Funny, upbeat, informative, covers the important factors. I have to ask you, since Im sitting on the fence on a Bronco and using it with a temp controller and a viper fan, what bbqguru fan adapter are you using on the intake stack?
First thanks for watching Bryan! Second I don't use any adaptor on this pit. I just shove it in the hole and wedged some foil on the edge. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment!!!
Is the ultra Q running the whole time?
Not the whole time just when it needed to stoke that coal some!!! Thanks for watching!!
This guy is living the outdoorsman's dream, lakeside in Wisconsin with a lot of room for toys. Any wall eyes in that lake?
Hahahah thanks Ed but that is actually one of my best friend's house!! hahaha But there are not any walleyes in that lake, but some nice perch and bluegills! Thanks for watching!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ I watch that video and your house or not there was definite camaraderie going on with people enjoying themself minutes from the water... whatever you do don't ever make that friend angry and get disinvited.... LOL
@@MuddyBootsOutdoors Hahahaha for sure! I will always stay on his good side!! hahaha Seriously just a bunch of good friends hanging out and enjoying time together!! The bonus was they all were on film a little bit so now they can feel famous!!! hahaha I appreciate you replying back Ed!!
You can’t put a rack on the bottom? I’m looking for a drum I can hang ribs and have some meat or side on a rack!
Well you could but you will be pretty close to the charcoal basket! There hinged 18 inch grates out there where you could hang a couple racks on one side and then use the grate to cook other things! Thanks for watching!!
Thank you so much for you quick reply! I’m thinking some baked beans in a little Dutch would be delicious in there lol! Love you videos!
Heck ya that would work out perfectly!! I appreciate you leaving a comment and I am glad you enjoy my videos!!
I just saw a pork butt go by!
Hahahahhaa ya that is a good comparison to Dale's rear end!!! hahaha Thanks for watching!!
This is a way better deal at 299$ then the plain jane 349$ pit barrel drum smoker
I can't argue with that!! I really like the OK Joe Bronco!! Thanks for watching!!
Where's the link to those gloves?
Black Nitrile Gloves amzn.to/32WnI7J because of Covid they have gone up. I buy 1,000 at a crack. Thanks for watching and asking for the link!!!
Do you still use the bronco? Is it worth buying? I've been thinking about adding it to my arsenal (when my wife isn't looking) 🤣
Yes I still use it and like it a lot!! I will film some more vids on it once we hit those nice 70 degree days again around here!! Thanks for watching!!
Tell her you found it by the curb with a free sign by it!!! hahaha
Man, all the background stuff going on, I almost missed the ribs...lol !
Hahahaha ya there was plenty of things going on for sure!! Thanks for watching Kent and have a great weekend bro!!
Man.... you didnt say what temp or what you're using to spritz. All the info in the description is basically more pitches to buy or pay money.
Ha ha it is just ribs. Cook them until they are tender. Spritz them when your rub is set. Stop living in so much fear and just cook. You sound like millennial living in your parents basement Scooter.
What gloves are those?
These right here with some cotton liners underneath! They are not fool proof so be careful!! Thanks for watching!! Black Nitrile Gloves amzn.to/32WnI7J
Thanks for the quick response! I thought that’s what they were. Easy enough. Have tons of nitrile gloves just need the cotton liners. Happy smoking!
The fan controller I’m interested in.
Ya I love my UltraQ from BBQ Guru! I just need a bigger cooker to use it on!! Ha ha great tool though for sure even if it is a little pricey! Thanks for watching!!
Are those gloves heat proof?
I do not remember what gloves I wore in this video. I typically wear cotton liners with a nitrile on the outside but they only help block the heat. If they are some type of mitt, then they are heat proof. Thanks for watching!
All that dirty smoke 😖
hahahha what you talking about Willis?? You obviously must be a pellet cooker because dude if you have ever ran enough can cooks you know that it is going to get smokey every time you open up the lid. All good though bro, not all of us have been on a pit for 30 plus year burning fresh. Thanks for watching and if I filmed clips while the lid was closed you would see NOTHING but heat waves----
@@DeadBrokeBBQ I run a 1,000 gallon moberg at terry blacks bbq in Austin Texas. Fuck pellet smokers I’m from central Texas I grew up making barbecue
Well awesome you got some street cred brother! 99% of the comments I get are from keyboard cooks and those moberg's are killer brother but not many TH-cam viewers are looking at buying one of those pits. I want one though!!! ha ha ! Honestly I really don't care what pit someone uses as long as they enjoy bbq and that is all that really matters. Keep on keepin on!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ yea man bbq is bbq don’t matter how you cook it long as you give it love and share it with others. Keep cooking brotha, always wanted a drum never wanted to learn em so I stick with the horizontal drums lol!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ I know how you feel about these keyboard cooks though. Some people just say the dumbest shit
Where can I get one of those sprayers?
Here is the one I use. Orange Spritzer: amzn.to/2XY9YWa sometimes they are sold out and they do have a new model. Again thanks for watching!
