Just done this to 3 door handles. Thank you so much. Saved me a few quid on new door handles. Also noticed one of the latches was very stiff so took it out and dropped in some graphite powder. Handles are working like a dream now. Thanks again.
Hi handyman savage and everyon. The metal thing that goes into the door frame which I don't know the name of hardly moves when I turn the handles, I hope that makes sense can you give me any tips or advice to sort out issue please. Great video thankyou.
Hello. The door handle should just pop off once you've undone the 4x screws. If it's a bit stubborn (which can be the case if the handle is stuck to paint), then just pull it horizontally with a bit of force.
Been looking for this handle for ages 😭your the only one who has this same handle as me everyone else has different thank u mate ur a legend one questione where do I get the little latch piece from cuz it’s broke for me too the same piece
Question please! What’s the difference between 2 turns v 2.5 turns? When I’m following link it’s got different options so want to ensure I purchase the correct one’s. I know to measure the mm for them but don’t understand the turn thing. My daughters bedroom door handle springs broken so I tried to switch it with my spare room. Bad idea as that crumbled as soon as I unscrewed it too 👎🏼 now I have 2 bedrooms with broken handles 😂Btw they’re the same as yours but a lot older looking.
Hi, 2-Turn Spring: A spring with two turns will generally provide a gentler closing force. This is often suitable for lighter doors or doors that you want to close softly, such as bedroom or office doors. It helps the door close but without a strong force that might be too abrupt. 2.5-Turn Spring: With more tension, this spring would offer a slightly stronger closing force. It could be useful for heavier internal doors, such as fire doors, which often need a bit more force to ensure a secure close for safety reasons. This would also be preferable in areas where a more reliable close is needed, like in public restrooms or high-traffic spaces. Choosing between them depends on the door's weight and how firmly you want it to close. Too much tension could cause it to slam, while too little might not fully close it. You could always buy one of each spring and try them with the handle, then return the one to Amazon which isn't to your liking.
@ Thank you so much for the response and the details you’ve provided me. 👍🏼 That was very helpful. I will purchase the 2 turn springs then, with it only being for bedrooms. I will also have to purchase some of those pliers…can you help me on what size I need please? Just I don’t want to have to buy a full set of them. Thanks again for your help. 😊
I recommend the ones in the description under the video, although they are a set, it's something you will likely use as other handles break. amzn.to/3oWBQd1
Thank you for this video very informative and helpful. I did want to ask what is the measurement of the spring?as your handle is the exact same one I have. I’ve seen some online 1.8mm and 2.5mm
I bought them from the links provided in the description. I can't remember the exact size I used for this handle, but I've used them on all types of handles.
That's very simple. To remove the handle part, you have to loosen the screw with the help of the screw driver. In the same way, loosen all the screws. Finally it can be removed simply with hands. It's that simple.
Thanks, all the links to replacements springs are in the video description. Click under the video to expand the description and you will see the links to the tools and replacement springs
Thanks for the feedback. The circlip removal tool is the only worthy tool for the job and you will end up using it on other doors as I found. Trying with thin pliers is a bad idea, as it damages the existing clips if it slips and you also end up cutting your hand. If you use a proper Circlip removal tool, then the clips can often he re-used, as the spring is usually the faulty part.
My handle has no circlip - only a steel washer with notches to limit the handle movement. This seems to have been put on and held solid by friction. Trying to lever up this steel washer bends it. How do i get this off?
This is the first video that comes up when I search for “round door knob handle keeps popping off; will not stay on” the spring that holds the “round handle” will not hold it on. Do you have an answer for my question since your video keeps coming up? It’s a simple question.
Usually the springs only break after the handles are well worn - Better to replace the full pair of handles as the cost of finding the correct springs against the cost of a new pair of handles in minimal
What is the metal ring piece that you put after spring is in place called? The two little metal piece of the inner ring is bent and i dont know what it is called to find the replacement. Tx!!
Happened to 2 door handles in my house, within one day of each other. One spring goes before the other so you end up with a working handle that's a lot easier to push - then about 4 months later the next spring goes, causing the handle to flop down. I looked up the date I bought them (they are "bolt through" ones going on cheap doors with hardboard outer panels) and they were bought in July 2020 so it's now March 2024, they didn't even last 4 years. If I open the door 20 times a day for 4 years that's about 30,000 times. Why don't they just make the springs more durable! They could just make it thicker vertically, which would make it harder to turn the door handle, but I don't care about that. They make everything cheap as they can these days and it's annoying. Meanwhile my downstairs door handles have been turned just as many times and they must be at least 30 years old by now, so they have had about 146,000 turns, with no issues.
Yeah totally agree, the days of robust goods is over in certain sectors, the manufacturers cut costs and use cheaper less durable materials, then as a side hustle setup a separate parts business to keep taking on the back end
Thank you!!!! Finally - simple, straightforward and with an ‘old’ style handle! Thought I’d spend the rest of my life searching 🤣 thank you!
Top man. Just fixed a pair of handles, with relative ease, thanks to you.

Exactly what I needed. Great video
Thanks so much! The door handles in my house are 65 years old and I'd rather not have to replace them all as they break!
Now to fix my door handle. Previously I just bought new handle but I can't get the same shape anymore. Thank you for showing how. Best wishes b
Solved my issue with your step by step tutorial. Thanks 😀
Clear and helpful - managed to fix my door. Thank you!
Thanks 😊 for your help and support with this useful information. 👍
Thank you so much for such a handy video. I now have saved two perfectly good door handles from landfill!
Glad it helped!

Excellent video, thank you. Now I’ve just got to find the nearest Springs R Us.

Very helpful, thank you for your clear explanation and directions.
Thanks mate 👍-Great vid.😊
Thank you. Very helpful. Just what was required 😊😊😊
Does this apply of you have the same handle but it has a key locking hole aswell?
Awesome instructions.
Hello, do you have a video how to detach the door handle from the door please? It just doesn't want to come off....

Do you measure the springs by how many turns they have ? I presume the sizes are not universal. Nice video.

Tried to order these springs twice now and both were the wrong sizes. 🤦 Hopefully third orders the charm and I'll be able to do it.
Sometimes it's a case of trial and error when ordering the springs. Good thing is if you order from Amazon, there's no issues returning them.
Exactly. I'll get there in the end lol.
Just moved into a property and im trying to change the door handles mechanism but the previous owners have painted over it. Any ideas please?
Post up a pic of the item

Do you mean where you buy them?
What is the metal ring piece that you put after spring is in place called? The two little metal piece of the inner ring is bent and i dont know what it is called to find the replacement. Tx!!
If you mean the metal bit with the pointy ears, that's called a "Door Handle Cam Washer".

It can vary on door handles. I've done a few of them and it gets easier once you've got the hang of it

I took the handles off to paint the door and now both handles have no springyness. Wtf?
Sliding doors are superior. No mechanical parts, impossible to breakdown.
Where get this spring
