I WAS THERE!!! It was fantastic. You can only truly enjoy wolftrap if you watch a movie with a LIVE Orchestra at night with the breeze behind your back.
I've always loved the increasing sense of dread in the music just after Brody sees the shark. How it all just starts to warm up until Williams gives us the Shark theme. That fin bearing down. That iconic theme . It's a show stopper.
Hahaha the dialog between Hooper and Brody about going to the end of the pulpit is AMAZING. I recently heard that Dreyfuss and scheider came up with that over dinner or something like that and then they ended up putting it in the movie. I think that that was brilliant on their part. It fit both characters perfectly and it's almost got the comedic value of a mini who's on first. Martin goddammit! Hahahah and being able to see John Williams live must have been amazing! In my opinion he is the absolute best of all time.I may need to look into seeing him live. I don't know how much longer sadly he's going to be able to do it. Thanks for posting this! What I love about this scene is after the film has established that when the shark is near we hear the shark theme but in the chum scene the film tricks the audience by just suddenly showing the shark rising out of the water with no music at all thus taking us all by surprise.
Thank the gods above that that damn shark kept breaking down. We only get little glimpses through out the movie of the shark and that's what makes this reveal of it in this scene so iconic.
Sequels tend to get overlooked in these sort of film music concerts. But the fact is some of Williams's best music has been written for follow-up films.
All the movie drives you to one specific quote... - '' Smile , you sonavabitch ! '' and then ... Boom!! Shark here , shark there , shark flies in the air and in the bottom of the sea! ''[ You ' re going' to ' eed a bigger bat ! '' The majestic quote !

Jaws is the best movie ever made.. but that's exactly what the problem is.. the movie itself isn't overrated at all.. the movie is to highly rated for some people to truly appreciate it.. sometimes being the best is a bad thing.. literally it doesn't matter how unrealistic the movie is its literally just amazing from start to finish...
I’m so jealous of that audience. I would love to watch JAWS on the big screen with a live orchestra playing. How amazing that must have been!
