I am sure you can purchase an LK150 in the UK, but I don't know the dealers. Check Facebook - there are lots of MK groups and someone will send you to a place. Perhaps someone here can answer your questions.
Yes! If you do scarves, one option is to leave tails of the weaving yarn for fringe. For babies, be sure none of the loops are too big - babies can catch fingers and toes in holes and strings.
A good place to start is to join oe of the big machine knitting Facebook groups and then ask about machine knitters, MK dealers, clubs, and lesson where you live.
Hi, Jane, I put a big file of 8-stitch patterns in the Files of my Facebook Group, "Knitting with Diana Sullivan." It's free, and you can join. Very nice community of knitters there, too.
Thank you Ms Diana for putting out so many videos to help all of us that are new to machine knitting. I have a question for you I don't know if you get to read all your comments or not I started machine knitting on the ultimate sweater machine and I wound up my game so I went online and I purchased a used juki knitting machine with a brother Riber bed. I know how to use the river bed but I have no idea how to use the juki knitting machine because it's not an English and I can't find any videos on how to get started with this machine can you help me??
First of all, the Juki may not work with the Brother ribber. Probably won't. Anyway, Juki machines are not so different from Brother machines in that you can work it out by fiddling with the push buttons to see which ones are slip, which are tuck, etc. There were several Juki models, and I've only owned one, so I can't give detailed instructions. However, you can find some Juki knitting manuals in English here machineknittingetc.com/other-km/juki.html
No, I haven't heard of that one. Would love to see a picture. Please keep in mind that knitting machines have been around a long time, and some are wonderful and some you should not buy. I have seen plenty of inoperable, very old machines that could not be put into working order. If you are a novice, you should only buy a knitting machine if you can see it knitting. Bring along an experienced MKer, if you can.
@@EsteeDarla If it's your first machine, definitely get some help from an experienced machine knitter. In fact, if you can find a knitting club near you, you can probably find a used imachine in very good working order. Most of us trade up and sell the older ones. But don't waste your money on a machine that you can't watch knit or that only knits with difficulty. I received a machine from a lady once who never wanted to see it again, she was very smart and a wonderful hand knitter but totally frustrated. All it needed was a minor repair. As it was it wouldn't possibly knit, and she couldn't know what was wrong.
@@dianaknits yes this what I was wondering cause I was afraid to spend crazy money on something and then can't understand it. I appreciate your help. I'm trying to make little dolls for my grandkids and learn to advance from there
Knitting machines like yarn with a little stretch, but yes, you certainly can use cotton on the LK-150. It'll need to be the right thickness and smoothness.
I thought the LK-150 was the only machine that you could still find brand new. I hope they haven't ceased production! How I wish we had a time machine that could take us back to the '80s and '90s when machine knitting was more popular and the machine variety was more widespread, although most were too expensive for me to have ever afforded. Those were the days!
I think there are still some models out of China (Artisan, Creative). I am lucky enough to have an assortment of Brothers and others and I intend to keep everything running beautifully. At least the ones I have are extremely well-built.
Silver Reed are still producing new metal bed machines too. The SK280 standard gauge punchcard model, the SK840 electronic. Both use the SRP60N ribber. Also the SK155 chunky/bulky machine.
Hi Diana, once again a very good video instruction but I just needed to know whether or not you actually ironed/pressed these samples you have done as I noticed how lovely the edges are staying back and not rolling, thanks in advance & keep up the wonderful work you are doing, regards Edwina :)
Woven fabric is much, much flatter than plain stockinette knitting. However, it's not totally flat and any bits that don't have weaving on them roll as usual.
I have a question that hopefully someone can answer, how does this Weave-R compared to the intarsia carriage. I was going to buy one for my LK 150, that is intarsia carriage, does this do something similar or do I need both?
This one doe athe weaving shown in the video. The intarsia carriage does something entirely different - it lets you put blocks or shapes of color across the knitting/ The colors are regular stockinette stitches. One the front, you can create a picture.
Hola! Me gustaría saber como se llama ese aparato para alinear las agujas. Tengo LK 150 Y no sé aún cuántas cosas hay para ayudar a tejer con esta tejedora. Gracias. Me encantan tus vídeos aunque no hablo inglés. Me fijo en las manos. Un saludo desde España. GRACIAS.
Hello I find that the woven yarn slackens when you unhook the knitting while it is tight while it is on the machine. How do you do ? If two different threads are used, the tension must be increased or decreased each time. Thank you for your advice. Regards
Sometimes I run into this problem, too. How much this slackening happens depends on the yarn for the knitting and the yarn for the weaving. Some weaving yarn is springier and behaves better. Sometimes the knitting yarn is too thin or too tight and draws up too much, leaving the weaving yarn slack. You can add a little tension by how you hold the weaving yarn. Play with the tension dial and your yarns and I think you can get a good result. I never can know how the yarns will behave until I actually swatch.
Hi! I'm loving your vids, they provide a huge orientation for me to get used to the machine. I was wondering if wether it's possible or not to create a sort of fair isle but with weaving? As in selecting some needles in one row and change the needles in the next one.. Do you think it would work?
Hi Diana, please could you tell me where you got the patterns for the Weave-R. I have both of these gadgets and would love some patterns that I could use with them. Thank you. Betty
I am planning another virtual seminar later this year - early November. I can only do a few, since I try to come up with lots of new, good projects and demos.
The knit side has very little pattern. it just has tiny bits of yarn showing between the knit stitches. All the design interest is on the purl side, which is the public side of this technique. In fact, the knit side is so boring that I have never heard of anyone using it for the outside of the item.
It is much easier to learn on a machine with bigger needles. If nothing else, get some strong drugstore reading glasses and work with that magnification.
I like it but the screw on the bottom is scratching the heck out of my machine, to the point of removing protective plastic. We're trying to file the screw down.

Ive found a 150 for 100 and a astasia carriage for 80 from the same person ..just have to get there to collect it as she wont post it.
I think too many beginning knitters make the mistake of buying the Bond machine because it's so cheap, and that's why they lose interest in machine knitting. I almost did. It's NOT a good machine for a beginner.
The Bond used to run much better. If you compare an old, old one to the new ones, you'll find rough edges, less accessories, quite a few issues with the new one. I've been told that it helps to use an emery board on every rough edge and lube well. However, why on earth would a beginner know to do that? And new Bonds are jammy, and after about three jams I'm wanting to throw something.
Is it true that the LK-150 is out of production? Could a dealer comment on this, please?
