    My very own Needle Beetle is arriving in a few days. This is going to kick my patterning and accuracy up a notch. Thank you Diana for this video, and thank you Kris for making this little device available to us.

      Yes, it's going to improve my patterning! I make mistakes. This way I only have to get the first 8 needles arranged correctly.

    Hi Diana, I just wanted to say that you and your videos are absolutely marvellous. I was given the LK150 for xmas a few years ago. I went through every page of the manual and could then do the basics within a couple of days. However, your teaching has, over the years, taught me everything I needed to really get going, and more importantly, everything I didn't even think I needed to know. You are a GREAT creator and teacher. Thank you. Am just about to go over and order some of your books (just so long as you ship to the UK).

    • @dianaknits
      @dianaknits  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, Emma, and yes, I do ship to UK. The mail is a little slower than before Covid, though. My best book for the mid-gauge is Mid-Gauge Mastery, which is a book of good projects for this machine.

    it's an incredible gadget. Is invention like a drum, picking needles on a carriage? Simple and ingenious, saves time for creating a pattern!!!

    • @dianaknits
      @dianaknits  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, it's copying one needle at a time - the needle 8 needles away. At least that's what my husband explained to me, and he's where I go with my mechanical questions. To me it seems like that wouldn't be accurate, but I knitted quite a while and not a single wrong needle copied.

    • @8miss_Laura8
      @8miss_Laura8 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wonderful! What about viving weave? Will it work? Experimented with intarsia?

    • @dianaknits
      @dianaknits  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it copies the needle from eight needles back. You put in the first 8 needles, and then it copies them on across.

    • @dianaknits
      @dianaknits  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@8miss_Laura8 I tried weaving, but you will have to pull the in-between needles out and over each of the selected needles. The yarn has to be over and under them to weave. It is helpful with Fair Isle. Intarsia, where you have blocks of color, isn't really the kind of knitting for this.

    Hi, I really loved this video. It was very informative. I am a new machine knitter on the LK150. I was wondering if you could do a video on the LK150 on how to knit socks, with sock yarn? You show it on other machines but it's not close enough for me to see or figure out what is really happening. Please, please keep the videos coming.

      Thanks! I hope you really enjoy this amazing hobby. Guess what! I just got TWO Needle Beetles in the mail from Kris! A package from Kris is like a party at my house! One works on the KX350 and the other model works on the Brother convertible. I don't have a convertible, but a good friend in my neighborhood does. She's an amazing knitter, and she's going to collaborate with me on the video.

    You say this is for LK100 but you don't mention anything about it in the demo. I have a Singer LK100, I've been told it's similar to the LK150. Mine does not have a switch on the carriage like that. How would I do tuck stitches? Is a Singer different from the LK100 you mention?

    • @dianaknits
      @dianaknits  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since I don't have an LK100 or the matching Needle Beetle, I didn't try that one. It is a plastic bed bulky, and I had one long ago. I don't recall much about it, but typically you would do hold by pulling the needles all the way out manually for tucks andt then pushing them back to upper working position when you are through holding. I looked at an LK100 manual and it appears that E position, fully extended, is "resting" position and you can use that to facilitate patterning.

    • @dianaknits
      @dianaknits  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Needle Beetle does ONLY repetitions of 8. 8 isn't divisible by 6, so a 6 stitch pattern won't work. The pattern diagrams I used were created in Microsoft Excel. I''m an accountant and am used to using that software.

I enrolled in a training to master working on the Brother machine and perfected the work, but due to the war conditions in my country, Syria, I resorted to Turkey. I now own a Brother hand knitting machine and want to start my own business. But I forgot some techniques after this long hiatus. Is there a video series to help me learn the basics of making hat, hats and baby sweaters? I follow you on your TH-cam channel. Please help me to perfect this job. $ 111.73 paid to you for the Needle Beetle, pdf book and shipping. Today the post arrived and I have to pay almost € 50 (USD 58.8051) at the door for tax. This is a very expensive purchase 😞. I think people should no that this has to be paid extra at the door. I live in Belgium and I did not know. I would rather have known this in advance. The seller cannot do anything about this, but people must know that it can happen of course. And maybe it would also be useful if this is on the website next to 'shipping worldwide'?

    • @dianaknits
      @dianaknits  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I am not the seller of the Needle Beetle. It is Kris Krafter. I do sell books and videos to Europe, and this is a HUGE problem. There is really nothing the seller can do, and I imagine this happens with anything you purchase from outside the EU but I am not sure if it's every country. I have explanations at my selling site, and warnings, really. Taxes and tariffs are not only very expensive for both sellers and buyers, but I know there are lots of people who try to get out of paying them. Some people even refuse my packages, which costs me the merchandise because it comes back beat up and the postage, which is expensive. I feel that if you live in a country with hefty VAT and fees, you should know about that and factor it in.

    • @pkirkey6932
      @pkirkey6932 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This very situation is delaying my purchase of a Needle Beetle. International shipping, duty, sales tax and currency exchange would more than double the price. However, I’m a patient woman being a lifelong hand knitter after all. When I order from Kris Krafter, or any other American retailer that does not facilitate international shipping, I have it delivered to an American friend’s home, pick it up when I visit and bring it back to Canada legitimately duty free according to our customs and excise regulations. Of course, I will have one heck of a wait right now because we are not enjoying any cross border travel during the pandemic.

    • @dianaknits
      @dianaknits  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@pkirkey6932 Yep, it's a problem for overseas customers. However, I just want to say this is not the seller's responsibility. And, in this case, I'm not the seller. Selling internationally is quite difficult. First of all, postal services are slow, especially during the pandemic. Secondly, the tracking ends when it goes across the border. Third, we have no idea what the person will be charged for VAT, customs and administrative fees at the other end of the transaction.
