The time is UC 1926. The Imperial Army's 203rd Air Mage Battalion led by Major Tanya Degurechaff has won the battle to the south against the Republic's stragglers. They expected to be given a vacation after returning victorious, but instead receive special orders from Staff HQ as soon as they get home. They are told that there were signs of a large-scale deployment near the Empire-Federation border.
Faced with the prospect of a new major enemy, the desperate Empire fans the flame of war.
Meanwhile, an international volunteer army spearheaded by the Commonwealth set foot in Federation territory. As they say, the enemy of an enemy is your friend. They suffer through misfortune purely out of national interest, and among them is a young girl.
She is Warrant Officer Mary Sue, and she takes up arms hoping to bring the Empire, who killed her father, to justice.
This exclusive one-night event will feature premiere footage of an interview with Director Yutaka Uemura.

@animeninja2 I have, she used minorities in Rusy Union to create buffer zones of minoriy states between soviets and Empire. She basically elevated ethnicity groups to gain their own independent states just like Germany did during WW1 against Russian Empire. Don't forget that the war Tanya is fighting in is a mixture of WW1 and WW2.

I still can't decide if Overlord or Youjo Senki is best Isekai. They're both awesome in their own ways. Regardless, clearly both convey the message that Japanese Salarymen are morally dubious at best :D
This is by far one of my favorite anime of all time. Glad this is finally being released.
You know ... I watched the anime, I started reading and following the manga ... I thought "MAN! They missed SO MUCH! They missed the WHOLE PROCESS of Tanya playing mental games, they made her a blood lusting psychopath instead of a thoughtful strategist, they missed the humour of how Tanya sees of others and how they see her, they shoved in a holy rival for her just like the first season of Kuroshitsuji... DUDE!"
And then I got news that a trailer for the movie came out. And I was sure that I would watch it just to be disappointed.
And then I heard her voice and I said out loud "Oh fuck *THE HELL* yes!"

Weird seeing how they are still technically WW1 based when it comes to their Germany.
The year is 1925 or 1926, thus WWI and WWII are merged. I am uncertain when the war began, but i suspect 1923 so we have more advanced weapons than we would expect. ON the other hand the germans would not of built Pzkfw III's in 1925, or at all. They only went down the tank path because the allied tanks in WWI caused them a lot of trouble. I suspect its best not to concern yourself about the chronology too much. Its all mixed up.
