I bought the xt4 a year ago and I love it! Cadillac hit a home run on this one. The only improvement is, the 13 speaker bose system is very good, but at times the side of the doors rattle a little. Aside from that, this cady rides so smooth and confidant. The tech is great!
Out of all the car review channels on TH-cam, none come close to the high quality reviews provided by Driven Car Reviews. Another excellent review, my friend. I'm also very interested on how well this rig will fare down the road in the near future in the auto industry, it looks very promising.
About a month ago we had one of the pre-production XT4s at the Cadillac Dealer I work at. I was able to drive the car before putting it in the showroom and I was impressed with the ride.
How is the interest been in the showroom?. Im looking to lease one in a dew days ..an now my fiance has proclaimed she wants one too!! No kidding:) She gets what she wants trust me. Out local dealer may very well be prepping 2 - '21 XT4s for delivery Mon!
@@davidklimmek3192 When I left interest was starting to dwindle since the XT6 and new CT4 and CT5 came out. I've put a lot of time in XT4s and like them a lot. I'm a big fan of the XT6 though...the production models of them ride just as good, if not better than the hand built proto I drove last year. Be careful...those XT6s might catch you!
That's a good looking front end. Reminds me of those "Art & Science" fender edge creases of the old CTS wagon. The tail could use a bit of that subtle tailfin look. If they could transfer this look into a modern CTS wagon, that would be swell!
A if you have an executive Costco membership card from southern CA, and you are looking for a 2018 or 2019 Cadillac vehicle please let me know because I can get you the best price in town.
Saw and test drove it tonight....extremely impressed...gorgeous car, drove so nicely, felt fast, build quality is more than nice, seriously considering
I think this car will do very well. I would feel comfortable paying mid 40s for this car. I think it's a great addition to the Cadillac lineup and it's a great looking car.
Looking at the infotainment screen and the advancement of technology. I see you saying stuff like this "this infotainment comes with a Snapdragon processor with "X" amounts of ram and *insert name* gpu" in the near future. Anyhow love your reviews keep up the Good work Tom.
Informative and enjoyable as always, Tom. I suspect you appreciate that more and more manufacturers seem to be staging their press events close to home. As for the car, it looks like a reasonable Mercer Island grocery getter suitable for occasional light trips to Costco. And unlike Caddies of recent vintage it doesn't scream (but only whispers) nouveau riche. Even a touch of innovative engineering for Boeing mid-managers. Good luck to GM on this one.
Awesome review! When/If I buy a crossover, this will be on the test drive list for sure. The base price is reasonable but someone in management is smoking crack for the price of the top trims in my opinion.
Tom, thanks for the heads-up wrt the super cruise feature. 2020 is when I was planning to buy my wife a new and smaller CUV as we are becoming empty-nester's in 2019. The XT4 is definitely on the list. In fact, it's at the top of the list exactly because of its Tweener size. A size point every reviewer has commented on. Nice review considering how short it is.
Love this small luxury Cadillac SUV! So much so im goin to test drive one Monday & seek their best lease program.. after a quick test drive & inspection!
I actually think this will be popular for Cadillac. It's a cool little car. Other luxury cars like Audi, Mercedes, Infiniti , BMW, Volvo etc have made some weird mini SUVs that I didn't think no one would buy but, young executive couples and empty nesters have bought little cars like these.
My only beef with both this XT 4 and the XT 5 is the too much tire to wheel opening space. Cadillac needs to close that gap.up by about 2 inches, which will give the vehicle a much cleaner look. Take a look at Dodge and Volvo. Look how clean looking their stance is. It's not a truck for crum sakes .
Always an enjoyable review Tom. I like the front end on it but how could Cadillac forget how to make their own rear tail lights? No CUE, thank goodness! The worst part of going from my 2010 CTS to 2013 ATS was CUE.
... wow ... the back window wiper has a disruptive/original location ..... that´s breaking the mold ... my Dad loved the Cadillac brand ... he believed meant synonymum of refinement ...
Normally I would say GM prices its product for steep discounts at the showroom so buyers feel like they're getting a great deal. I can see this one being popular enough so dealers won't have to do that.
$55,000 for a FULLY Equipped XT4.. Also, something people don't know yet is that the Super Cruise feature is coming to the XT4 at the end or middle of next year. And like Tom said, there's a lot of features that aren't even available in the competition.
Hello Tom, Do you still have the ERL and how's it holding out? I've got one on my 'get rich' wish list! Thanks for these wonderful reviews. If any of you doubt Tom's review quality, please check out his competition, you will hurry back!
Tom, terrific review. Always appreciate your candor. And to that end..... Dear GM, If you want Cadillac to be your premium brand, why are you skimping on details like padding where the driver right leg and passenger left leg rests against the center console? Why so much black plastic on the center console where the shifter is? Why no heated/cooled cup holders? And as Tom said, why can't you do what the VW Golf does with lining door storage with felt? Guys, I want to like your stuff, but when you don't sweat the details like Honda did with the Accord or VW does with the Golf, it makes me wonder where else you didn't focus on details. Hugs, A BMW owner
Is BMW still something cool in the U.S? Because here in EU it is pretty much a mass marjet. Especially in Eastern Europe there is a lot of used coming from Germany. Anyway- this Cadillac is awesome and interesting in looks. BMw and Audi are not bad cars but boring. Cadilllac needs to improve dealership network here and definitely a diesel option is neccesarry
Maybe it's hard to tell from the video, but to me, those tailights look like they were borrowed from the old Saab 9-3 Sport Combi (which General Motors owned up until the demise of Saab)... What do you think?
They look good in person. In general, the chatter amongst the writers was very positive. And I'll say again, this is a vehicle that looks better in person than in photos.
Great review Tom. I watched your video review of the 2017 Mazda CX-5 crossover you had your brother-in-law in it. I understand that this vehicle don't compete with the XT4 directly. How does the XT4 fair in handling compared to the CX-5 and which handled better? Sportier between the two? Hope you reply back.
Funny, I'm driving my brother-in-laws Mazda while mine is getting repaired. I think the Cadillac is better overall and should be, especially with the adaptive dampers.
Good to hear it appears to be competitive. Would you say that the interior material choice is less eclectic than it had been? It always seemed that Cadillac designers threw the kitchen sink at the interior
ATS's replacement has been spotted out testing along with its big brother CTS replacement. It is now called the CT4 and CTS is CT5. They will both return with their V Series counterparts.
This will be a hit for Cadillac. It’s a crossover, it’s has a nice design, and isn’t fun to drive, which let’s be honest, actual car shoppers don’t care about for the most part, because if they did, the CTS-V wagon would still be around.

Brad, it only does so under light load conditions such as, cruising on a highway or roadway, at a steady cruise speed on a level surface. When the algorithm detects an incline and senses an increased load it immediately and imperceptibly switches to all cylinders. This has been tested in other lengthier road tests in the Seattle area where dozens of car reviewers were invited to drive this vehicle.
I don’t understand why GM can’t make their seats/headrests softer than a cinderblock. Buick’s and the CT6 are the only I’ve sat in where the seats were comfortable
