This video is a perfect example that if people perceive ONE TINY MISTAKE with what you say, you'll get hundreds of comments correcting you.
I'm here to say I made NO SUCH MISTAKE - THE KOREAN INVASION OF KOREA WAS SCRUBBED FROM THE HISTORY BOOKS. OPEN YOUR EYES, SHEEPLE.

8:34 The AI can see your troops but since they are blackflagged they count as neutral troops till they lose that attribute. You can see closely that even if you commanded your troops to start moving towards the fort that the icon for an imminent battle didnt appear on the screen. Thats why the AI didnt react. The check for the black flag happens when you touch a friendly tile/province. The game cant predict if you are going to touch it though hence the AI being stupid. And to me thats a development oversight/bug since the check algorithm can be upgraded easily.

One of my best and most fun late-games was as Korea in 1.32 where I basically had over 9000 dev (pun intended), owned half the world thru colonies and vassals, and every one of my provinces was at least 10 dev. In hindsight, with the new buffs to the Mandate, it's definitely worth it to steal it!

The ai doesn't see the entirety of the map
The map is divided into AI regions that can be seen by the ai freely, or perhaps there's a single ai per region
Ai probably can't see black flagged troops because it ignores them to not calculate anything, saving the computer's resources
Still the AI will see everything probably because it would be far more expensive to make it not see things, while black flagged units might also simply create problems
You can actually access the ai regions map modes using a command that can be checked on the Wiki

move any army to any enemy army, and watch it not move UNTIL you enter the 5th tile from the army, THEN it runs away

  • @Aldinth
    @Aldinth 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

Damn, this is literally 180 of how I always do expansionist Korea. I'll usually start taking out the hordes, snake to Ainu, declare on Japan and just defend the strait with 1 mil tech advantage at 4 or 5 until they run out of stacks getting their asses kicked. Then, once you take out the fort in Mino they are blocked and you can just occupy the whole northern Japan.
As with Ming, regardless of who I play as, I'll first declare on them, chain escapes and occupy any forts, razing ALL the provinces and looting whatever I can to bring the devastation as high as possible. Take all the money and war reps, immediately attack some tributary without allies, Ming comes in. Now their mandate should be below 10, you can just roflstomp their armies and continue razing and looting provinces like a madman. Again, take no land, just max cash and war reps. They now bleed mandate like crazy due to devastation and loans. They'll recover to maybe max 20 mandate during the truce and probably go into Mingsplosion, third war is where you go ham on taking the land.

Things like the Burgundian Succession, Protestant Reformation or who is the HR Emperor don't matter. Which is a nice change. I think you should do more non-EU nations. Muslim nations seem to be rarely played by Streamers. They have a lot of different mechanics to work with too.

attack the ming ally, he will sell out ming's stuff to you so hard after 5 years of occupation
also wanted to tell you to learn how to do navy rotation. the idea behind it is that fleet combat can take long enough for a month to roll over, and if you split your navy into two or three stacks, you can retreat one navy out before it gets wiped, and meet the enemy with one of your other stacks. they still have morale from winning, but they can't repair their units, so if you slam back and fourth with your navy split up, one at a time, you will start to incur incredible casualties on the enemy while repairing your ships in the background
also i think pirating ming might lower mandate, coastal raiding CERTAINLY does, so if you let tsushima be an opm they might become a pirate, and that would just right screw over ming forever. that and a "smash and burn" type of war. declare on ming for a insult cb, so no one can take land, and simply burn down as many provinces into devastation as you can. should tank the mandate and cause mingsplosion, but you could race the timer and fight them before it gets too bad

Korea is honestly a understand nation. Probhably makes them my favorite. You can go tall (and colonial) or wide and become Emperor of China if you are into RP

8:00 thanks for telling the truth about how the game works and what i call "cheating" - maybe its just that paradox cant program a game to be challenging without the ai cheating? i think its unfair that ai can have special abilities like being able to see everything, knowing exactly what ur doing.. for example, when i click my unit to go towards a siege, they immediately know its going there and leave the siege.. not only is it cheating but it encourages the player to also use it as an exploit to fake the ai into leaving a siege... all game developers do by making ai cheat is to encourage the player to cheat.. for example, if the game didnt cheat on sieges & battle dice rolls, id have no need to save scum... and therefore the game would be more enjoyable. The thing with being good at this game, is in my opinion just knowing how the game acts & how the ai thinks & then doing something to counter it.. which is basically using exploits & cheese... you know the ai will go on a mothballed fort and you put the fort back up again... thats an exploit... im not saying its wrong to use an exploit, im just saying... if the game didnt cheat, you wouldnt need to use exploits to win... they have basically made the game so only experts who know every trick in the book can play it & do well... it kinda discourages new players.. and id have thought that they'd want to encourage more people to play the game not just rinse long term players for more & more money with a million dlcs?

      It's good for both honestly.
Do nothing but dev with your insanely good starting king for about 20 years (to avoid the disaster + spawn renaissance), then start expanding into Manchuria following your mission tree. This should give you a decent enough power base to take on Ming, provided they have low enough mandate. The first war with them is always tough. Just occupy the war goal and hold your ground. In the first war I like to take a land bridge which connects straight to Beijing, and in the second annexing Beijing and taking the mandate is preferable. Other than that, continue to develop provinces like Suwon and Busan to spawn other institutions. Suwon is cheaper because of the monument in your capital, which gives dev cost reduction for all provinces in the capital area.
If you take mandate you get cores on every province in the China region that you occupy - this way you can have all of China conquered by about 100 years in. Then use your missions, ideas and ridiculously cheap high level advisors to dev the shit out of everything you've conquered for single digits in mana points. From then on, all of East Asia is your oyster.
Don't forget to take the event to Sinicize your culture, which makes the (Sino-)Korean culture belong to the Chinese culture group instead of being completely isolated.

The admiral Yi was a great Commander, but what actually won the naval war with Japan was the terrible state of Japanese navy at the time and lack of naval commanders. Japanese Navy existed for near costal warfare and mostly mimor transport, not fighting at the seas
