Amen when you GO preach the gospel, heal the sick and raise the dead. This was everyday life for Jesus. GO sell what you have take up your cross and follow me! We can do it by faith let’s GO!
Did you mean to forget the key components of suffering and sacrifice? Pick up your "Cross" daily and follow me. Add those paper circles please. Discipleship is about dying daily to self and in the dying will emerge the new life, the new creation in Christ.
May the lord almighty Jesus Christ bless you n your church n your discipleship activity.. I am studying divinity.. and am completing a questionnaire on discipleship.. the Bible is vast .. let all denominations come under one understanding for we all worship one God..
Love this style of explanation through art! I do something similar on my own channel but it's pretty rare to see elsewhere so I'm glad to see God's gifts to us being utilized more!
At min 1:45, Discipleship is offered as the solution to more successful Christian living. Practically all churches teach this, but I believe that it misses the mark. Successful Christian living is rooted in sanctification. The real solution is two-fold. Humility! and Dependence! We are to humble ourselves daily and purposefully place ourselves in positions of trust and dependence on God. Basically, I am describing how Paul overcame the thorn in his flesh. We will fight with our flesh till the day we go home to be with the Lord, and no amount of discipleship can fix that. The solution is NOT better choices NOR more will-power. Ironically that drives you closer to self-rule and away from dependence on God. Unfortunately, discipleship programs run the risk of a person following a person. Whereas, sanctification involves being spirit-led.
Discipleship happens in very small groups. Small enough that everyone will participate and that they will begin to be transparent within the group. We are all imperfect people where iron sharpens iron. Your typical Sunday School class typically have a few people only doing the talking and transparency does not occur. A true discipleship group becomes friends who share in their lives struggles and joys. It is my opinion that true discipleship is largely missing.
I think we have to clarify what we mean by "disciple". Most churches that offer discipleship classes refer to a disciple as one who has been discipled. Then the answer would be no to your question. I think that's wrong. The answer to your question must be yes, because a disciple should be defined as one who has placed their faith and trust in Jesus. This is why I don't like the modern day concept of discipleship. I think it has become system oriented and is not founded on what Jesus commanded. HIs words are attached on at the end or at some point just to ease the conscience, but his words are not unpacked and followed and put first and made foundational. Firstly, Jesus said, "Go" He was telling us to go out and get others saved. So any program that starts with believers in the church to disciple them is not founded on this instruction of Jesus. First, people must get saved and baptized. THEREAFTER there is the second phase which Jesus said, and that is that we must teach them all that he has commanded. So what should be happening in the churches is that they have "teaching" for believers and it should be centered on all that Jesus commanded. Any way, it's a big topic... I suppose there isn't space to discuss it all here :)
I love this video but I have one question Why can't discipleship be a solo effort, I love working by myself and doing stuff with God by myself so I can really concentrate on him and all the amazing stuff he has done for me (you).
As Christians, Christ is our discipler for sure. But if you are privileged to be led by the holy spirit to someone whom you can submit to and learn just the way Timothy submitted to Paul. Then it's something you should be grateful for. Discipleship is very important in our Christian walk and growth but we must allow God to lead us to the person (s). You are not to make that choice in flesh. Also it shouldn't affect your personal walk with God adversely rather it should help you grow. Jesus walked closes with His disciples for 3.5years and when they scattered all over the place after the death and resurrection of Jesus, they also (Jesus' disciples) had other people that worked closely with them in their ministry and that's how it should be. Closely. PRACTICAL not Theory. God bless you.
The problem is that actual disciples (believers/saints) are disciples of Jesus, not of men. “Discipleship” involves people following people. Discipleship then is always between the disciple and the Teacher. Modern discipleship is really the Shepherding Movement rebranded and rebooted. It’s a bit more subtle than the OG Shepherding movement, but it’s all still there.
The gospel is Christ crucified, buried, raised, and glorified. You spoke of some of its benefits, not the gospel itself. Please consider changing or adding to this presentation. Please don't "preach the gospel" without the cross and resurrection, for it is no gospel at all. Please see 1 Co 15:1-11 for a clearer expression of what I am no doubt imperfectly expressing. But go on preaching, my friends. Don't stop, but please take into consideration what an imperfect brother says. Your message is kind, but is unfortunately incomplete.
Thank you. Thank you dear Jesus. Thank you for my life. And my family. And friends. And Others.
Excellent video
Amen, amen amen.God will heal all things.

I think true discipleship is more like a brotherhood, a family. With commitment and a deep relationship as commanded by Jesus.
Very good!

Except discipleship is supposed to be a one or two man thing. Like accountability or coaching.
