Well done guys, also like to say "its good to see the pair of you smiling and showing that you are enjoying the session" all to often we see video's where the angler looks like he really would rather be somewhere else lol. Thanks for sharing. Jim
You CRAZY son of a gun !! - Totally get and respect your dedication, knowing that if it were me the only thing I'd of caught is Pneumonia !! *tilts his hat*
Great fishing & great to see those perch, I will have to get out on the water & see if I can get one, I have done any coarse fishing for years so it will be interesting, 😁
seed compost what a cracking bait carrier I'd use it even where u can use groundbait ! I used in med swim feeder ,size 12 hook and as many LOB worms u can get on the hook ! great video ! I'm going after perch this week ? maybe Tuesday I'm gonna use praws (iv never used) but my biggest ever perch was while BARBLE FISHING WITH MEAT AT 4LB 2OZ BY FAIR MY BEST ACHIEVMENT IN FISHING TO DATE ! WHERE IM GOING THE LAND HAS BEEN PRIVATE THE LAST 20 YEARS AND ITS OPEN AGAIN CANT WAIT ! THANKS FOR VIDEO MATE
theres nothing better than feeling the take but i found when using large prawns for big perch you have to wait untill they run away with it and an alarm and bobbin help see the difference from a take and a line bite. Also we where fishing 2 rods each and at night so alarms are needed then. I think if i went back i would float fish a small prawn to compare. Thanks for the comment ted
cheers :-) Got some one pounder perch which also are nice :-) they are freaking strong - especially those who lives in the river and the baltic sea :-) Love perchfishing :-)
Nicely made vid and great results. Any tips on location of fish? My local perch pool is fairly barren with depths from 4ft down to 9ft. The whole lake is edged with bushes and scrub but no actual features in the water and zero weed. Very coloured year round with a high Clay/silt over gravel. Struggling a bit
Got to give it to you blokes, cold miserable conditions , you fish really hard for a result , I live in northern Australia, the biggest problem is the midges and the occasional croc, and the fish are a hell of a lot easier to catch .well done boys
Summer nights have shortened and with the change in weather its time to accept that my evening tench fishing sessions are coming to a close ;( However after watching this its lifted my spirits and i think i'll target some of these badboys :D
Love perch both as food (delicious if from proper water like our local river) and as an angler (don't eat the real big ones, they go back - but - in Scandinavia where I come from, Perch are concidered as a delicassy if you were wondering). I keep it a bit simpler than you guys with just a float, some sinkers and a worm on a hook but we still share the same love for angling. Awesome fish you've caught and I congrat you :-) Friday I'll be chasing a 2-3 pounder perch in the river :-) Tight lines!!
Thankyou ;) We used a simple running rig a 1oz lead to hold bottom for less resistance on a large run ring. To 12" of 4lb line to a size 6 hook. We had a couple of greedy roach but no the prawns are very big so the small fish generally leave you alone... Hope this helps
hi chris iam from ireland injoyed your video keep up the good work ....iam new to perch ledgering can you advice me on what kind of rod has in test curve i would need i have two shimano baitrunners 4500 old models they do but just need a bit of help regarding buying a correct rod for the job any help would be greatfull
@@eamonnquigley2125 Tackle Box Darent Valley 11ft 1.25lb LSG Specialist Rod - (Low Set Guides) these rods are the best available for ledgering for perch. I believe the only rod specifically designed for perch/tench ledgering on alarms. Make sure it's the LSG version this means larger eyes less resistance. Nothing else out there ticks all the boxes, I was always put off by the £50 price tag thinking it may be a cheapy rod. They are brilliant and I own a set myself 👊
@@sleepyfisherman10 hi chris thanks very much for your reply........ as iam from ireland that make of rod might be hard to track down but any good make of rod with the test curve of 1.25lb should do the trick as iam new to perch its mostly deadbaiting i do for pike i wasnt sure again thanks tight
Thanks for the great comments pal ya we use lures too but this water bans them and the water is very dark so the visibility is poor but im sure it would work if we could do it :)
Cracking video mate, really nicely put together and very instructional. I hope the angling press are watching! Always a few silly opinionated folk who should get out more. Cheers pal
Fantastic video lads. Got ur rewards for cold night. Can you just comment about the set up pls? What weight leads did you use? Do you bother with lead clip? Hook link ect? Lastly do the smaller fish bother with the king prawn? I havent fished for perch for long long time lol. Again great post
Hi harry i have Daiwa ss2600 they retail around £90 each and Andy has the Fox Stratos around £50-60 although he sold them shortly after as these reels are known for clutch/gearing problems which he had problems with.. Cheers pal
Chris and myself shall be filming a PART 2 to this video if people are interested. We will cover all the questions we have been asked in relation to this first video. Thank you for all your incredible comments. We had no idea it would be so popular. Let us know if there is anything else you would like us to include. Andy
Seed compost infused with liquids, acids and smells has all the attraction of normal ground bait but no food content so it could be used on venues that allow ground bait to be different thanks pal
i love perch and ive had 1 of 3lb 6oz this season. Great video lads, u have given me somethings tyo think about. by the way i caught my pb on paloni sausage dipped in liquid worm, its quite boyent, and ive had a few fish with this bait.
Really enjoyed this video and yes its not bad is it weighing perch and smaller fish in a bag we got a lot of comments about weighing a couple of perch and a 2 lb or 3 chub !
fish get put back quicker aswell because with the sling you have to wet it and weigh it and stuff ahahaah no only because we had some negative post ahah
very nice fish, but in sweden and here in the north the Perch are alot more greenish to the color with very distinct black stripes.. nice baitmix u got also :)
Oh, please let the hot water be for tea. The bait recipe is basically shrimp and worms so I am with that. In the States we cannot chum in fresh water however, I use cooked cocktail shrimp with a live crawler at night to great success so I feel right at home with your set-up. Just a little dubious about the kettle! hahaha
Nice perch mate and good video. They are one of my favorite fish.I have had a few over 2.5lb and one monster of 4lb 6oz.I was gutted to find my camera batteries were dead and I was on my own so no picture of a fish of a life time :(
I've been trying all winter to get a perch like yours. Did you use prawn the hole time? Can you tell me please exactly what tackle and line you were you using?
very nice! amazed how fat they are..very compact perch. I wonder somtimes if there are sub-species of our european perch? caught some big ones in switzerland from 43-46cm, but none of them ever had suck a high back (hump) like yours did. congrats mate, well done!
big curved hooks with a wide gape only one of the perch was deep hooked and it came out very easily with a discorger, also the bait is big too so they cant really swallow it too badly thankyou so much for the comment pal
Most self conscious tea drinking ever lol👍. Great vid, enjoyed that!
Even though this video is 4 years old I love it and can't stop watching it
Can't wait to see part two :)

Had no idea you could catch perch using prawns. Always use lobworms. Cant wait to give this a bash and see the outcome, class video!
nice one lads, can't beat a nice big perch.
thankyou soo much

resting topic ;) great vid by the way lads.
Nice video with some cracking perch. Definitely some time and effort put into filming and editing this-too stuff.

Thankyou for the comment Mikey... Glad we aint got crocs lol
Chris Westley shame about the ban on lures at alderwood, some drop shotting or LRF style set up would be lethal
going to be doing some LRF videos this year so your idea may happen ;)
