I've owned 3 Hemi Durangos with nearly 700K miles driven and over 1/2 towing 5000#+. No issues. Latest is a 2023 Durango RT Tow and Go. Best of all of them so far. The Explorer ST is amazing but if towing and durability and reliability are important it's hard to complain about the Durango. Hearing the V8 and the instant throttle response and impeccable 8spd shift algorithm make driving it more fun than it should be. I love 10mi from the dragon and the Durango Surprises a lot of Miata and hot hatches. It's a product that has aged very well.
I’m currently getting rid of my credit card debt so I can my own Hemi powered Durango! The Explorer ST is really cool but the sound of a V8 is something that can never be replaced.
I absolutely love the hemi in my truck, and I’m a Chevy guy… I’ve also driven an explorer ST that was tuned and it was an absolute riot to drive. Pick turbos or displacement you can’t go wrong with either one
They are called Eco-booms for a reason. My boss's Ecoboost Explorer just grenaded itself with 12k on it. Meanwhile, my 2014 Durango is going strong with 161k.
Let me tell you.. whoever criticized the Ford engine is wrong.. who among you has an idea about the Infiniti Red Sport engine and how much horsepower and torque it has. Which is from the GT R engine family and has won international awards? It is a 3.0 twin turbo engine with 400 horsepower and 350 torque... Now let's see the Explorer ST engine, it's a same size engine 3.0 twin turbo. it's make 400 horsepower and 415 torque‼️.. Ford really excelled... This does not mean that the engine is weak at all Let's leave that now.. How did you forget that she looks a lot like her sister Ring? I took it for a test drive and it was very fun, powerful and the torque is very active. I recommend the black color, it's the most beautiful on the Explorer ST ever.❤❤❤
Tough call. I love the way Fords drive and handle, but that instant V8 power and sound off the line would make me lean more towards the Durango. Idk. I'd have to drive both.
After 10-12 years, the Durango still looks better, and even though it’s a bit outdated, I’d take the HEMI burble any day of the week. 3-row-family, American muscle
Ford ✅ all of the boxes when it comes to safety features and especially the 360 camera for a better price. I'll take the more fuel efficient V6 over the V8 any. One reason is because those twin turbos will definitely come in handy, especially when traveling up in the mountains
It has four hundred and twenty horsepower four hundred and sixty five pounds of torque and what the r t I was only getting fifteen miles to the gallon and with this inline hurricane i'm getting like eighteen point four miles to the gallon
The Explorer’s new grille looks goofy but it’s by far the better choice. More power, better tech, smooth quiet refined ride. It’s just a better vehicle. Durangos cool tho too, just less luxurious
Face said the Ford is better even though you guys test drive all those vehicles but Ford has a lot of recalls, but I don’t care. I was still buy a Ford any day of the week month or year over any piece of shit Dodge.
@ Don’t care about gas mileage..gas is cheap and getting cheaper. I want a normally aspirated engine that will easily go more than 100k miles without a new turbocharger.
@GunsgodcountryTrump first just upgrade every 5yrs. And second gas is not cheap it's too expensive if gas was 1 dollars or 2 dollars a gallon then it would be cheap and gas mileage won't matter. U do realize it's cheaper to charge an electric car or cheaper to fuel a car that has 4 cylinder engine, about 30 to 35 mpg in city. U are not driving 100mph every day. 180hp is enough for daily driving.
@ it’s been falling in Texas..expect it will fall further. New sheriff in town. We’ll see an increase in oil shale and gas extraction. My experience with highly strung turbo 4s is gas mileage isn’t as good as projected..plus many turbos need major servicing in 60-80k miles.
Durango wins unless you are talking G Cherokee L to a Durango then I would give the slight edge to the GCL. I would drive both and see what fits your needs better. The G Cherokee has a newer chassis and better fit and finish the Durango is well sorted out and reliable just not as refined as the Jeep. Now if Jeep ever stuffs that 3.0 TT in the Grand Cherokee it will be a surefire winner !!
@ it’s more than just turning it off..The vehicles with that crap have a heavy duty starter & battery, a more complex cooling system & transmission.. This will b more expensive to fix down the line.
No, hemis have MDS which is where it goes down to 4 cylinders when you're crusing low rpms. You can get around it with certain drive modes or permanently delete it if you're more ambitious and don't mind getting your PCM unlocked.
That Durango is heavier than my 1500 pickup with a 5.7 hemi. My 1500 has a standard 395 horsepower. Why on earth they take close to 40 hp off the engine. All i can think of is it's to easy to tune to the srt level with bolt ons and 395 stock hp.😮
I love my Ford ST the power and drive is much better than the Durango I had a RT after my first Ford ST and was very disappointed! He forgot to put the Ford ST in Sports Mode so it would really be apples to apples! The ST has a V8 dual exhaust sound so he cap about the sound! Go test drive for yourself and see the difference!
Face said the Ford is better even though you guys test drive all those vehicles but Ford has a lot of recalls, but I don’t care. I was still buy a Ford any day of the week month or year over any piece of shit Dodge. Ford is better than Dodge. Come on even though you test drive all of them for better. They sell better and they’re better vehicle.

Purchased the 2025 Ford Explorer ST. Excellent quality. Happy thus far. 3.0 V6 twin turbo engine is strong.
Durango! Hemi all day!
I’m currently getting rid of my credit card debt so I can my own Hemi powered Durango! The Explorer ST is really cool but the sound of a V8 is something that can never be replaced.
Agreed
If you're in financial trouble and getting rid of credit card debt. Maybe getting a hemi Durango isn't the best financial decision
I absolutely love the hemi in my truck, and I’m a Chevy guy… I’ve also driven an explorer ST that was tuned and it was an absolute riot to drive. Pick turbos or displacement you can’t go wrong with either one
No 360° camera is definitely a deal breaker for me.
They are called Eco-booms for a reason. My boss's Ecoboost Explorer just grenaded itself with 12k on it. Meanwhile, my 2014 Durango is going strong with 161k.
I'm saying both suv looks good for a family suvs I like both

V8 hands down.
V8 power and reliability all the way.
Dodge just has the testosterone and the cool factor the ford looks your moms car.
Just bought a '24 Durango r/t. Got it for 12k off sticker. don't think you're getting that with an exploder.

I love dodge this will be my next car
I had the 21 Durango RT now.I have the Ram 1500 Laramie with the inline 6 hurricane.I would like to see them put that in line six in a durango
Why is it a better engine?
It has four hundred and twenty horsepower four hundred and sixty five pounds of torque and what the r t I was only getting fifteen miles to the gallon and with this inline hurricane i'm getting like eighteen point four miles to the gallon
I’ll take the ST all day before the slow Durango RT. Unless it’s a 392 or SRT Hellcat Durango.
Durango for sound and more reliable but Ford for HP and tuning.
I love my Explorer ST.
The explorer sure is a nice looking vehicle
The Explorer’s new grille looks goofy but it’s by far the better choice. More power, better tech, smooth quiet refined ride. It’s just a better vehicle. Durangos cool tho too, just less luxurious

That Ford grill better be metal
Yes
No v8 is never better 4 cylinder is enough v6 is also not needed v6 and v8 have terrible gas mileage.
@ Don’t care about gas mileage..gas is cheap and getting cheaper. I want a normally aspirated engine that will easily go more than 100k miles without a new turbocharger.

@@GunsgodcountryTrump gas isn't getting cheaper it's 3.4 dollars a gallon here

Can you advise me please
Dorango RT or Jeep

Durango is somewhat dated compared to Explorer. But I like the Hemi. Maybe Stellantis will get their act together one day.
They got a new CEO, so maybe.
Simple yes no turbo bs
Does the V8 Durango have the stupid annoying stop/start? I believe the one with the Hellcat engine doesn’t..
You can just turn that off lol
@ it’s more than just turning it off..The vehicles with that crap have a heavy duty starter & battery, a more complex cooling system & transmission.. This will b more expensive to fix down the line.

I had both. The Durango was more reliable. I still have the Durango and ditched the Explorer
Durango, If you can buy the Durango HellCat go for it.
That Durango is heavier than my 1500 pickup with a 5.7 hemi.

10/10 times yes V8>V6
ST 100%
DODGE DURANGO ALL DAY
Yes the answer is yes

I was with you until you said it has a V8 sound. It certainly doesn't lol.
I’ll take the Ford..Thx
The rt Durango is de tuned 360 hp instead of 395

Love both vehicles. Unfortunately both too powerful for the wife. I guess she’s better off with her RAV4 for the time being.
Normally I’d say go for the V8 but not when it’s in something so pathetically old as a Durango.
Explorer needs premium fuel.
Explorer is cheaper considering gas
The Durango is out dated and there is really no new updates to the interior. Yes it has a V8, but that is all that is has going for it.
Two of the most unreliable vehicles on the market
Durango is better! Turbos are junk!
The new ram is going with Turbos. Wonder how that’s gonna turn out?

Dodge interiors feel outdated
