It's also a freebie skin for anyone having owned Volibear prior to and on Rework Launch day. The reason for the skin itself is because, currently from lore being updated, this is a form that some people (Udyr, Sejuani, etc) see him as, as it may be his True Form. The White Thunder Bear we see is just one of many forms this Demi-God and take up, as it's something people who know of and about him see him as. But that Eldritch nightmare form... that is his real form many do not know of, or live long enough to tell of.

Regarding the lore : Volibear and Ornn are brothers, but in a greek gods sort of way. Just like the gods of Mount Olympus, they bicker for no good reason, hold millenia-old grudges, etc. Ornn retired himself from the mortal world after a battle against Volibear killed all of his followers.
I loved the livestream mostly because I was browsing Twitter and other sites while the whole thing was going on. The lightning made flip back instantly. Plus I really want that howling abyss video as an animated wallpaper.
That hoodie looks super comfy.
Nice to see Ohmwrecker make a return as an ultimate.
Raven guys were the arakkoa in Terrokar Forest iirc. Farmed those birds for months.
its a new mechanic for a champion but disableing turrets was on omwrecker, also it doesnt drop agro itll still target whoever it was targeting prior to it being disabled, its in the reveal video

I'm not too excited about the champ myself, but I do like it that they kept it simple as there are not a lot of champs that are easy to play hard to master anymore.

Personally I feel ranged champs can be a bit on the simpler side in terms of their kit and melee champs should be more fancy. Otherwise I kind of just see voli as a ball of stats even after the rework.
idk if ornn is a watcher, but you do notice they are somehow connected with ornns dialogue. he mentions voli making a river, and you don't want to know how or something... also they are both demigods i believe

volibear is the one who blinded Lissandra as punishment for being tricked and allowing the watchers through

Voli is Ornn's brother. He asked Ornn to suit up his army and Ornn denied, they fought, impact killed Ornn's follower, Ornn became big sad, stays in mountain. TL;DR of the lore between them

I'm hyped for new Voli kind of sad his kit doesn't look that great for top lane though. Since I play him top as my go to top laner. Maybe he'll still work top. Only time will tell. Might have to learn to play jungle.
why do i feel like the disable on towers is going to be a big issue. more like voli is in game, expect tower dive at 6
I think low elo players may start to learn what is turret-diving.
I definitely see some unique gameplay. Can imagine him in competitive with certain teamcomps, but I think he will have most impact in Iron/Bronze/Silver/Gold. People don't know when to give up turrets, nor how to execute a dive.

I want to be excited but I’m not getting my hopes high. I think he’ll be strong on release but I agree with Yamato...will depend on numbers. And riot will gut him early on.

volibear, ornn and anivia are siblings. ornn being the oldest. they got along well in the beginning. but volibear got jealous about the fact that ornn had loyal followers. one day voli was going to war with lissandra because she wanted to rule the freljord. so he asked ornn to arm his armies. but ornn refused because he did not approve of the ursines (volibears savage followers) ways. so volibear got mad and they started fighting. in the process of this fight all of ornns followers died. after that ornn was done with everything and isolated himself. volibear on the other hand was so furious and felt betrayed with his brother that he ripped of his armor that ornn had made for him (the armor he wears on his current model) and wanted to fight like in the old days. like a savage with teeth and claws. volibear wants the freljord to return to the old days because the people of freljord had grown soft and weak. he wanted the harsh and unforgiving freljord he knew. so he has now vowed to tear down any evidence of civilization and return the freljord to the old wilderness it once was, where he was feared and respected by all.

I'll be honest the intro made me confused and hungry in the same time.
According to the lore, Voli got mad at Lissandra, Avarosa and Serylda for trying to take control of Freljord. In rage, he attacks Lissandra and blinds her (the reasons she can't see). Around that time, Voli wanted Ornn to join him to fight the three sisters back. Ornn did not agree with his ways. In anger, Voli fought Ornn until Voli curses Ornn's name and left in rage. So, technically, they once Were Allies, But, thanks to these events, Volibear hates Ornn now.

TLDR: Ornn doenst like to have follower but a group of blacksmith saw Ornn contempt as challenge so they build a village around Ornn forge and making stuff that will gain them Ornn approval, Ornn appear to be careless what they doing as long its doenst obstruct him but being a fluffy tsundere he actually appreciate what the blacksmiths doing and making. Volibear notice this and want Ornn to order the blacksmiths to make weapon for the ursine but Ornn rejected because firstly they are not his follower, secondly he doesnt want to make Volibear weapon in the first place so he ignore Volibear and continue forging item that he want and Volibear being an asshole just start taking collection of item that Ornn make, so they battle that lasted a month and when the dust settled the village is destroyed and all the blacksmith is killed and this devastate Ornn and from then on Ornn hate Volibear
I'm starting to really miss the loss of the super basic slap champions. It's obviously better for the game this way, but doesn't mean old Nunu wasn't funny as hell.

Esentially, Anivia Voli and Ornn are siblings, Ornn and Voli hate each other - Ornn has many voice lines against him. Thousand pierced Volibear is based on the story of him and Udyr, where it's basically explained that more Ursine worshippers has and more he fights, more powerful he becomes. Altho it was never confirmed, it was many times hinted that Volibear is corrupted by the Void. Lissandra altho everyone thinks she is "the bad one" she actually keeps the Watchers from the Void frozen in the Howling Abyss (the Void are basically like pure evil in League lore). Everyone thinks she is bad because she had to kill her sisters to stop the Watchers and her methods - she turns people in ice - are a bit... unconventional.

simple champions keep this game good. weirdly designed overloaded champs like aphelios just lessen the game overall imo.
Idk, that champion may be extremely broken as riot's last champions after gettting released. I think he will be very OP top laner in the first patch, then he will get few nerfs and his career will end like strong jungler. But i totally agree with you, that this Reworked Voli is totally about numbers. But i would like to know range of his E, if he can poke with it, it can be balanced champion, if its melee range idk, with average damage and melee range he will be pretty useless and as you said he won't be able to rival Darius/Jax/... Anyway nice video Yamato, thank you, also wish you the best.

Not a fan of the kit. They should have kept his previous passive and added on the chain lightning from his new passive. Keep the flip, keep the new E, keep old w, and use the new ult.
Only thing wrong with old voli imo was his E and ult. Old E was decent except it was such a simple ability, new E (dependant on stats) feels better and adds a slight amount of range. Old ult was uninteractive, new one really gets you into the fights.
This is a botched rework. He is once again a stat check champ, who will win after buffs and be useless after nerfs.

Most of these reworks are poor...I liked volibear a bit more cartoony and with the armor. It was styled after the movie Golden Compass. Now we have this overgrown bear for some reason. Wukong rework was also bad, didn’t improve his playability at all. Most of these reworks are really bad. I only liked the Aatrox one, akali was ok. Now you have this overgrown bear for some reason. You keep getting it wrong riot. Just upgrade their move pool slightly, add some effects.. His armor is gone, I thought it was cool to have an armored bear...
I'm really disappointed in the rework personally. I was playing it a little bit, and I'm not sure I'm going to continue. I think the passive is an interesting spell, but that's about it, there are no more Bumps when he had 2 before. Why don't we just keep the same Q. I don't know, I feel like that makes him a champion of stupid go in, he just has this little stun, you lose the notion of a big bear coming at you and shaking you around. Above all, adding an ohmwrecker effect to his ult rather than a little zone bump is really strange. After the E is interesting, but I think it would synergize better with the old Q. The W is pretty interesting, but still sounds a lot like a nunu or even a two-part warwick Q, since it applies the on hits. Anyway, I don't know what it's going to look like, but it looks like the spells don't even synergize.
Hahaha wow the first part reads very different, thought you really hate this video. I agree it is quite dull but people have complained about overloaded kits for a very long time. Maybe this is a way of showing the community that they are wrong.

About the overloaded kit, yes, this is interesting to have a "light" kit (I still think it's very odd that they didn't keep the Q flip, but we will see). Thank you for answering me !
I actually agree. They are trying to get rid of "stat check" champs, and they basically just made a new one. He is a simple champion whose kit doesnt synergize, so later on he will either be busted or useless. Was excited about the rework, and I love the visuals, but i dont like the new kit.
Hope you are still reading the comments for feedback, i dont think it's a good idea to dress up like this for serious themed videos, i really can not focus on the matter with you looking like an absolute bombshell in your inuit cosplay
And once again Riot has ruined another champion I loved playing. RIP Volibear.
