Yep. i was going to mention the similarities with "American Gods". Voli thinks like an old god, he actually feels a lot like Odin, they both take different names human gave them and both want to start a war to regain their lost power.
I think the line "In my dreams, I see bones frozen in ice. I wonder... if they are my own". Might in fact by a reference that the true Volibear is either sleeping, or maybe even dead. The Volibear we see in-game is a manifestation summoned and shaped by whoever has called upon him either willingly or unwillingly. This would also tie in to the fact that there aren't really many worthy warriors (that look up to Volibear) in Freljord anymore, confirmed by "But do I live if I am not in the hearts of warriors?".
In your last point you talk about how the Gods might work in a similar way spirits do by relying on followers to worship them but in one of the Ornn's quotes he says something along the lines of "Gods don't need followers. Followers need Gods."
They have different point of view on it. And Ornn must be the one who's right since he shaped the land and started forging before followers came to birth. But it may just be metaphorical when Volibear says he doesnt exist without people worshipping him.
I also remember Ornn denying he has followers (even when he had the Hearthblood) and he said he doesn't like having followers and just likes to be by himself.
@@adriancam5331 In his story, right before he fights Volibear he tells him he doesnt have followers. That the people below his mountain forge, build and create for themselves, not for any god. So he does. Yet in game he says "I had followers once, they tried..." So he knows it was his followers, he just couldnt admit it at the time or still can admit it in public. I think the whole follower thing with Ornn is more of him not liking the term. He doesnt want people to follow gods. He wants people to be as free as gods are. Inspiration is something is understands, but the term "follower" is stronger and implies a strong link. Too much to have any kind of identity to the ones following. Like sheeps to a sheperd, the sheeps don't have their own thought, they only follow the sheperd because he's the one who made the 1st movement. Ornn wants to inspire at best. That's my take on why Ornn denies his own followers.

Don’t forget, Necrit: his bio mentions another primal deity referred to as the “iron boar.” Currently, we have Ornn, Volibear, Anivia, the Seal Sister, the Iron Boar, and/or Everwinter.
I like that they didn't make him hate Ornn with all of his heart, but you can tell that he actually loves his brother even though he tries to not show it
Given that Anivia seems the most gentle and compassionate of the bunch, if I had to guess for what the line about "the ice burning in" her heart is suggesting, I'd assume either a caged fury at the state of things, or that she holds back the worst of her storms to the point where it affects her health, possibly forcing her to do the phoenix rebirth/reincarnation thing after exploding into an epic winter storm.
As necrit says the voice lines of in game characters isn't worth shit lorewise. Plus I don't think Volibear hates Ornn to a killing degree but like brotherly hatred born of disagreement.
Riku Harada I think you misunderstand, because Necrit never says the voice lines aren’t worth shit lorewise. This entire video is about what Volibear’s interactions mean for the lore.
@@RikuHarada6996 I didn't mean just to be a cut-off word but rather an adjective to justice. In the end, Ornn is his brother and there can be as much hard feelings between them as you want, his death/killing will still shake him. To me he is doubting whether this conflict to death between brothers was a right thing and whether killing Ornn was justice or injustice.
'Just' itself is a full word, 'surely this is justice ' would actually make less sense than what he says. It is more archaic, but it would would make sense for an old demigod to say. "Surely this is just." Is a full sentence, meaning, "surely, this was the right thing to do."
So there is a really interesting quote from Pantheon saying:"The power of these "God's" is but an echo of our own" Which might be connected to the gods in Freljord as well
Theory: When Volibear got into his fight with Ornn (or sometime in his past), he in fact was killed and over time his form froze deep beneath the ice. His conscience still remained, however. He thinks with doubt (due to his dreams of his own bones) that he is still alive, as whenever people call up him, and believe in him once again, he can take shape via them summoning him. He now fights to grasp followers, allowing him to live once more and fight for his wishes to return his land to a wild state once more. I am unsure if he knows he is dead though, since he states "A god cannot die!", but maybe he is referring to peoples belief in him keeping him around. Just thought of all this on a whim, tell what you think
I was actually very disappointed with Voli interaction because they was short and lack luster. It would have been great if he had interaction with some Darken or ascended characters.
Actually due to their being ellipses, its also a possibility that he just left out the rest of the words he would have said because of sadness. So really it goes either way like Necrit said
@@sunnydeee_ well bears and most mammals have pecs and abs they're just not defined because 'working out' doesn't exist. 6:45 the way he says surely there was a reason seemed as if he doesn't remember doing it so maybe how he has a dark side is like an alter ego and he just turns into it randomly and does horrible things then turns into the great white bear again not remembering what he did
"In my dreams, I see bones frozen in ice. I wonder... if they are my own." I thought about this. I think he meant that he sees what he wants to see, freljordians fighting for survival, leaving bonees in the plains of ice. But instead he realises that these are HIS bones, because he has been forgotten by his people, who got into farming. Don't know what you think about this but i think it makes sense.
6:14 In my opinion, Volibear calls their god are coward because those gods create culture and civilization, which is in Volibear's belief, is a sign of weakness and cowardice ( my English is not good so sry if you find something wrong in my grammar )
Maybe the story of bones in ice is not literal. Maybe it means that Volibear cannot move on from the old Freljord and doesn't accept change. He is frozen in his time and this line is him doubting.

@@Kerblbua not anyone. so far i think he has only "killed" pantheon, but im not sure of he kileld him or just destroyed the link cuz right now atreus is pretty much replacing pantheon as an aspect of war. are you sure his sword cant be destroyed?
When he says is he alive if he's not in the heart of warriors doesn't mean he's powerless because people aren't praying to him. He himself says that the tribes don't call to him anymore, and yet he doesn't complain about fading away. The statement about being in the hearts of warriors is about him truly living for something. It's like when a man questions if he's truly alive without a wife. This doesn't mean that without a wife the man is dead.
4:17 i think your missing the point here, if you remember the Iron boar AKA the forgotten god then you'll know why he interacted Bristle instead of Sejuani I theorize that when Valhir/Volibear realize that the boar that Sejuani rode was his long lost brother, his forgotten brother the *Iron boar* . Here Volibear could not believe that such a god would be serving a human as a stead and he questions it yet bristle does not reply, perhaps something happened to the boar god even none of the siblings knew about. I theorize that maybe one of the 3 sisters had a similar power that can turn gods into their prisons just like how the rest of the darkin got turned into weapons but instead of weapons they become normal animals. Unlike the darkin this power causes the god to be unconcious and instead their animal forms were the ones who were concious as if their mind was their own instead of the gods. So Bristle currently wasn't himself but his power can be sensed by his siblings just like how volibear discovering the *Iron boar's* fate
I agree this sounds cool but I don't think it's possible. If Sejuani's boar WAS a demigod then wouldn't she have noticed something, like idk maybe superpowers? I think that it's just that Voli knows the animals of Freljord and some even by name. And seeing as sejuani is a rather prominent Character it would make sense for him to at least have heard of this undoubtedly mighty boar, just like he knows of Rengar for some reason.
12:56 Maybe this is talking about the difference between true ice and the black ice that exists out there? Or maybe the Freljord is artificially cold and the Everwinter sister is the one that keeps it that way?
I think at 10:42, when he talks about them calling no longer, hes talking about how they are no longer his worshippers (but in a different way). They called to him, and now that humanity has become complacent and not savage enough for him, he refuses to answer. He refused to answer for so long that mortals stopped calling to him. Alternatively, it could also be that hes fighting them and wants to wipe them out. They call to him no longer because he is now their enemy.
In regards to the final point made in the video, ornn has been almost forgotten in the freljord, and many of his voice lines refer to not having followers. Yet ornn is still content and powerful. What a proud ornn main I am
9:32 I always understood it as voltage bear, thunder bear. The Freljordian demigod of thunder, who has a Stattik in his passive and an Ohmwrecker in his ult

Aatrox definetly. Maybe aatrox would die but he would come back. And again. and again. until voli is dead. I mean aatrox killed pantheon and pantheon is stronger than voli mind u
Volibear should win that, he’s far too big, I believe Aatrox is around the size of a building but Voli is the size of a mountain. We don’t know the context behind Aatrox killing Pantheon other than him “hitting him so hard he killed the aspect” but Atreus was still able to get up afterwards so he killed an aspect but not one human? How do you hit an aspect’s vessel so hard you kill the aspect when Aurelion Sol I think killed a vessel and didn’t kill the aspect?
@@justhair17 exactly, it says something like this in the lore too, I believe. That pantheon was like "get in the passenger's seet Atreus, I'll take the wheel because you cant drive" And so he manifested too hard to simply gtfo when killed.
11:24 By this line I understand that Volibear fears if his followers don't need him ( like to have faith in Voli) anymore he will start to lose his "power". I apology for my English
The line : "In my dreams I see bones frozen in ice I wonder... If they are my own?" It still is a plothole till this day. We still don't know anything about it , maybe with this year's Void Event and Ornn being in the spotlight again, maybe we will know more about Volibear aswell as all other Freljordian Demi-Gods.
14:25 "Gods don't need followers. Followers need gods." - Ornn. May or may not be a bit off, but that quote came to my mind when you mentioned that bit.
The line where he's talking about his dreams of frozen bones and how he wonders if they're his. It makes me think how Volibear may be thinking of what will happen to him in the future as people are slowly forgetting him. Or maybe Volibear is already dead and the Volibear that people see now is his spirit.
7:39 Necrit, this line finally is out in my mother language, Spanish and Volibear did not say just as in "justice" He said just as if he was about to say something, and I cite "Esto es solo..." In Spanish "justicia" means "justice" so he didn't meant to say this is just as in justice because he would have said "Esto ea justo"
The Zilean interaction is a reference to Tom "Zileas" Cadwell, Head of Design on Research and Development at Riot Games. He was famously against an "armored bear champion" and frequently stated as such on Twitter and other social media. Source: League of Legends Wiki (Easter Eggs)
10:20 there is writen: five Fjords... that would actually mean, that there are 5 gods... like it's mentioned later ice and salt and everwinter (+Voli and Ornn)
I cannot understand why Volibear and his brothers would need the belief of humans to exist or to have power, if they already existed long before humans appeared. Ornn was powerful enough to literally fight the land itself, long before humans were born. And he even says that "Gods do not need followers. Followers need gods." I think what Volibear means is that he can live without humans, but it would be a meaningless life. He wants to live with warriors worshiping him, just as it was in the old days
13:05 "I Am A God, I Cannot Die. But Do I Live If I Am Not In The Hearts Of Warriors?" Ornn also has this quote "Gods Doesn't Need Followers, Followers Need Gods" Bruh! What are your thoughts??
13:30 +fact In some mythology like Norse the people thought that, people need gods to worship someone and the gods needs people who worship them. If one of them are lost, the other one is also lost.
I allways thought that when volibear says" in my drems i see bones frozen in ice. I wonder... If they are my own" (11:41) he meant his way of thinking/ living. That he wonder if his decision (for example killing human kind) is correct. That he lives in the past.
I think the everwinter line may be referring to the fact that Anivia, the seal sister and Volibear are more alike with ties to storms and the cold and Orn is an outlier being associated with fire.
Yeah 5:35 The Zilian developer was against the idea of making an armored bear as a champion, that's why he was against making Volibear and they became in-game enemies.
Real talk, although I'm behind on lore and am slowly catching up, as far as I'm aware Anivia hasn't been appropriately updated yet. I've even seen Gragas finally have a video about his lore updates while scrolling down the channel. But Anivia still hasn't had a proper time to shine and that makes me real sad. Plus, her in-game model could really use some love.
13:16- I might agree with you if it weren't for Ornn's line: "Gods do not need followers, followers need gods." I think that if the followers do actually contribute anything to the gods that it's just an increase to their already great strength. This is supported a bit by all (or at least several) of the gods predating even the possibility of mortal life let alone followers (once again I use Ornn as an example).
Ok, the Janna example is a fair one, but while it is possible that she is a goddess and may work in a similar way she could just be way weaker than the Freljordian gods both with and without worshipers. It must also be acknowledged that with current information that she could just be a different type of creature with a few similarities (minnows and whales both swim, but they are very different).
Necrit, The Volibear line about everwinter has me wondering about a part of his bio... "A few, like Anivia, seemed inclined to work with the sisters, while the Volibear and the Iron Boar wanted to destroy them." This in response to the three sisters rising to power, so this would early on in their story and not be when Ornn was mad at them for using magic on the howling abyss. Ornn also mostly kept to himself and didnt get involved with humans not to mention that he is a ram. So from the bio, Anivia (and I'm guessing the Seal sister) wanted to work with the three sisters, but Volibear and the Iron boar (Sister of everwinter) could have sought to fight the humans while Ornn stayed in his home. That idea could also give some more substance to Volibears line to Bristle. If animals are seen to relate the demigods that share a similar form, then that could be a remark to judge Bristle for siding with humans over hating them like the Iron boar did.
As a matter of fact, 05:50 the story was more like Riot Zileas thought the concept of a bear in armor was stupid, but the idea went on anyways Since he verbalized how much he disagreed with it all it was decided to add an inside joke
I think that Volibear reminds me a lot about an old man that is scred of all the changes that are happening around him and feels that het may be forgotten. but also afraid that his goals and drives aren't that good like he would like to think. I think that could be a reference to the frozen bones in ice( he is rusted in his ways) and text if he truly lives if he doesn't live in the hearts of warriors. Volibear is just scared that peple forget who he is that he forces himself on others.

A GAME THEORY
I don't know if I can call this a theory, but let's try

Also, in his book, there is not just a single depiction per god, but as many as people believe in (for example, there is not just one Jesus Christ, but many, with different ethnicities, core beliefs and so on)
So, with that said, my "theory" is that A. When Volibear says "But do I live if I am not in the hearts of warriors?" he's mentioning something similar to Neil Gaiman's depiction of gods, in fact, Ornn himself says that "Gods don't need worshippers", and maybe they don't technically need them to live, they exist even without their belief, but that belief, that faith, those worshippers are what makes them truly alive, what gives them true power to shape the world, a power he once wielded and has now lost

@@garganzollo3365 unless it's like a spike shooting bear, yeah, that aint happenin.
Also worth to mention it shows even more how the 2 brothers are very different in their way of thinking. They really are opposite
So he does.
Yet in game he says "I had followers once, they tried..."
So he knows it was his followers, he just couldnt admit it at the time or still can admit it in public.
Sorry for the few mistakes here and there, didnt quite re-read myself before responding
Volibear: "A god cannot die!"
Aatrox: "Are you sure about that?"
Let the matchup roll in xd
you watch necrit and you think that aatrox has a chance against a firstborn? are you serious?
(saying this as a xerath main, and also, xerath would get stomped by volibear as well -_-)
Aatrox may be a threat to volibear tho since he’s the one who killed aspect of war, pantheon.

@@TheHunter932 aatrox is a beast (no pun intended)
he can figure out how to kill anyone. He is the god killer. He killed fucking pantheon like wtf get out of the way voli u noob
Don’t forget, Necrit: his bio mentions another primal deity referred to as the “iron boar.” Currently, we have Ornn, Volibear, Anivia, the Seal Sister, the Iron Boar, and/or Everwinter.
I like that they didn't make him hate Ornn with all of his heart, but you can tell that he actually loves his brother even though he tries to not show it
Which is the exact same thing with ornn.
Volibear: a god can't die. "Aatrox wants to know your location."
I disagree, by the way he pronounces "just" it is very clear that he is talking about justice and that it's not a cut-off sentence
As necrit says the voice lines of in game characters isn't worth shit lorewise. Plus I don't think Volibear hates Ornn to a killing degree but like brotherly hatred born of disagreement.
Riku Harada
I think you misunderstand, because Necrit never says the voice lines aren’t worth shit lorewise.
@@kiza888 "Just" is a word though. I am a fair and just person. Voli was saying, was this just? As in, was this right?
'Just' itself is a full word, 'surely this is justice ' would actually make less sense than what he says. It is more archaic, but it would would make sense for an old demigod to say. "Surely this is just." Is a full sentence, meaning, "surely, this was the right thing to do."
So there is a really interesting quote from Pantheon saying:"The power of these "God's" is but an echo of our own"
Which might be connected to the gods in Freljord as well
I was waiting for this! It’s really great how there are so many new things in these interactions 😄
Theory:
When Volibear got into his fight with Ornn (or sometime in his past), he in fact was killed and over time his form froze deep beneath the ice.
Sounds really possible ..but I hope its not
I am not sure if Ornn would even kill Voli, I mean ornn is a nice person at his core and after all Voli IS his brother:/

Actually due to their being ellipses, its also a possibility that he just left out the rest of the words he would have said because of sadness. So really it goes either way like Necrit said

I thought about this.
I think he meant that he sees what he wants to see, freljordians fighting for survival, leaving bonees in the plains of ice. But instead he realises that these are HIS bones, because he has been forgotten by his people, who got into farming.
Don't know what you think about this but i think it makes sense.

Everything is a dream
Freljord is Yharnam, confirmed
When he says is he alive if he's not in the heart of warriors doesn't mean he's powerless because people aren't praying to him. He himself says that the tribes don't call to him anymore, and yet he doesn't complain about fading away. The statement about being in the hearts of warriors is about him truly living for something. It's like when a man questions if he's truly alive without a wife. This doesn't mean that without a wife the man is dead.
When he talked about bones frozen in ice in his dreams I immediately thought of lissandra.
I could not _bear_ to wait any longer for the interactions video, ty Necrit! ; )

what kind of cereal do you eat bro holy shit
This makes me want some skulls for breakfast
11:20 is probably about Lissandra and her ability to enter other people's dreams, and maybe even gods'.
4:17 i think your missing the point here, if you remember the Iron boar AKA the forgotten god then you'll know why he interacted Bristle instead of Sejuani
I theorize that when Valhir/Volibear realize that the boar that Sejuani rode was his long lost brother, his forgotten brother the *Iron boar* .
Damn. Now, you made me think about it
I agree this sounds cool but I don't think it's possible.

@@AkumaKuma104 Maybe because when Aurelion killed the vessel, the aspect didnt completely take over the vessel like in the case of Atreus

About Volibear's dream about his frozen bones - his death animation is him transforming in ice sculpture.

Necrit, this line finally is out in my mother language, Spanish and Volibear did not say just as in "justice"
He said just as if he was about to say something, and I cite
"Esto es solo..."
In Spanish "justicia" means "justice" so he didn't meant to say this is just as in justice because he would have said
"Esto ea justo"
The Zilean interaction is a reference to Tom "Zileas" Cadwell, Head of Design on Research and Development at Riot Games. He was famously against an "armored bear champion" and frequently stated as such on Twitter and other social media.

10:20 there is writen: five Fjords... that would actually mean, that there are 5 gods... like it's mentioned later ice and salt and everwinter (+Voli and Ornn)
I'm pretty sure a fjord is a geological/geographical thing. Otherwise that would imply Volibear made the other gods himself
Fjord are those cliffs, aren’t they? Where people usually fish?
I cannot understand why Volibear and his brothers would need the belief of humans to exist or to have power, if they already existed long before humans appeared. Ornn was powerful enough to literally fight the land itself, long before humans were born. And he even says that "Gods do not need followers. Followers need gods."
I think what Volibear means is that he can live without humans, but it would be a meaningless life. He wants to live with warriors worshiping him, just as it was in the old days
13:05 "I Am A God, I Cannot Die. But Do I Live If I Am Not In The Hearts Of Warriors?"
Ornn also has this quote "Gods Doesn't Need Followers, Followers Need Gods"
Bruh! What are your thoughts??
I see you added the theme of the Howling Abyss
Great job 👍
13:30 +fact In some mythology like Norse the people thought that, people need gods to worship someone and the gods needs people who worship them. If one of them are lost, the other one is also lost.
The everwinter is probably around the far-true north, since there is colder. Maybe she even created the bale striders
Humans: plant crops that they can eat, so that they dont freaking starve or something.
Volibear: Wait, that Illegal
I allways thought that when volibear says" in my drems i see bones frozen in ice. I wonder... If they are my own" (11:41) he meant his way of thinking/ living. That he wonder if his decision (for example killing human kind) is correct. That he lives in the past.
I think the everwinter line may be referring to the fact that Anivia, the seal sister and Volibear are more alike with ties to storms and the cold and Orn is an outlier being associated with fire.
this is your job and i love it.
Yeah 5:35 The Zilian developer was against the idea of making an armored bear as a champion, that's why he was against making Volibear and they became in-game enemies.
what if Ornn actually killed volibear and his actual form is just a temporary form (explains also why others see him differently.
11:19 His death animation is him turning into a frozen husk and shattering.
When Voli questions about the bones in his dreams, made me wonder, what would Lissandra see in Valhir's dreams?
Necrit,
The Volibear line about everwinter has me wondering about a part of his bio...
11:20 this might be just him seeing himself not being called for the longest time, and seeing himself as someone who cant do anything.
They really ought to update anivia's model, make her more in tow with the other demi-gods, she looks like a tiny amateur ice sculpture
6:47 I think Voli means "just" as in the adjective, not the adverb, based on his tone of voice
As a matter of fact, 05:50 the story was more like Riot Zileas thought the concept of a bear in armor was stupid, but the idea went on anyways
Since he verbalized how much he disagreed with it all it was decided to add an inside joke
At 12:00 i think what he mean is "my sister (anivia) is god of ice, salt and everwinter. But ornn huh, a liar"
11:36 it's a wow/wc3 reference
