    ER IS PRESSURE NGL ! Having confidence is the biggest key and being able to think super fast! I’ve been a nurse for 3 weeks now it’s hectic but we gotta keep pushing!

    You are BRAVE for starting in the ER. I wish I was that brave when I became an RN. I worked as a cna for many years, LPN for 2 then once I got my RN I had a small baby and was just too scared to start in the hospital. I worked doing vaccine clinics and hospice. But two years out I’m ready to try out the ER finally. I applaud you, you’re amazing. You’re a great inspiration, and this is coming from someone who’s worked 10 years in healthcare

    Thank you so much for your video!!
    You remind me so much of me! I just took my first job in healthcare as a patient care assistant.. I’ve been doing it for about 2 months now and I remember being so scared and lacking confidence and not having any idea if this was the right path for me.
    I took the job because I just got into nursing school and I wanted health care experience!!
    I also too get comments that I look really young. (And I’m 28!!!) I can relate that it does feel embarrassing at times because you feel like you’re being judged for not being experienced!!
    I’ve been thinking about what I want to specialize in and my heart keeps going to ER but I’m also scared just like you were that I won’t be fast enough or smart enough or cant handle the pressure or that I’m tooo nice!! It’s all growing pains. You’ve inspired me that this is something I should go for if it’s on my heart and not let fear hold me back!!
    I love your personality and you shine so much!! Thank you and best wishes and lots of love ❤️❤️

      You are sooooo welcome!! 💕 I feel like we have soooo much in common as well just by reading your beautiful comment! And yessss as soon as I walk in the room, I know they’re thinking “she looks mighty young”😂 but it’s also a good thing because we have a youthful appearance 😂❤️ and oh my gosh 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹 that makes me sooooo happy. I am so happy that I could be an inspiration - that’s literally a dream come true 💕 and we are similar foreal because my heart was telling me ER ER ER but then again, I was SO SO SO SCARED 😂 your confidence will come with time and you ARE smart enough! If you don’t know it, you’ll learn it there! ☺️you are going to do amazing! I would love to hear how it goes! Thank you sooo much for watching friend!! 💕😁🤗

    Hey Gurl! Congratulations on making that step to jump straight into the ED! I understand that you had to work on your confidence, my question is how was your confidence as a student nurse? I want to start out in the ED but my confidence level has sucked while in nursing school during lab and clinicals. Im 2 weeks from pinning and worndering where I should start out.

    • @jameekae9648
      @jameekae9648  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      heyyyy! 😁😁😁 my confidence as a student nurse was probably the worst especially because I had never experienced ER and the pressure of people telling me I should start out as a med surge nurse first. my advice- if you really want to do ER, definitely go for it! You won’t feel confident at first (I definitely didn’t) I was scared! but you’re gonna learn everything in orientation that they didn’t in nursing school anyway! so might as well learn in a place you wanna end up in! and you always have help! and if you can, try to pick up a position in a ER as a intern to see if it’s something you’d still be interested in after graduation!
      Congrats on Pinning Ceremony!!! 🤍🤍🤍🤍

    How do you deal with overthinking when trying to make the best decision for your patient? I overthink sooooo much so I'm super nervous about that.

    • @jameekae9648

      Hello gorgeous! So not gonna lie, I was overthinking about how to respond to this message lol so it’s definitely something that I am still working on myself. But it’s an AMAZING 🌟 question and I had to really (over)think about my reply. I want to first say that overthinking in a hospital ER setting is not always a bad thing. So for example, it’s okay to overthink when giving meds cause you wanna assess the heart rate, blood pressure, heart rhythm, side effects, etc before just passing out medicine! Even if it takes a longer time, it’s safe for the patient at the end of the day. Some nurses can do that quickly because of experience but we’re brand new so it’s okay to take your time! So experience is a great way to overcome overthinking OVERTIME because you get so used to seeing the same things over and over and you’re confident with more. But since we’re baby nurses and don’t have that much experience, we should focus on the problem and then the solution. So trying to simply the situation as much as possible so we don’t overthink. For example, if we are have lots of tasks to complete and we are behind, make a list. Prioritize what to get done first and mark it off once complete. It simplifies things so we don’t feel so overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done. When I was in orientation, my preceptor bought me pens and sticky notes because she knew I had a hard time with getting things done in a timely manner (because of my overthinking🙄). And now, 1 year later, I don’t use the sticky notes anymore! So it gets better! So patient safety is first take alllll day long if it’s for the safety of the patient, but breaking things down is the best solution I have found so far. I will definitely keep you updated when I find more tips! Let me know if you have tips for me!! I would love to hear them and thanks for watching 🤗🤗🥹🥹😁😁☺️💕💕

    Congratulations 🎊 . Where you already good on IV in clinicals or you learnt it more and became confident on it while you was training

      Hiii! Thank you!! 😊 I was definitely not good at IVs in my clinicals at all! I was still learning in clinicals! I didn’t get a lot of practice until I started in the ER as an intern. And I was never confident until recently! Practice makes perfect!! 😁
