This is inspiring. I just graduated from a bootcamp and I am confident in my skills yet I am nervous. Same, we learned React (I struggled through React. lol. It was more so about component design than anything else. I have an OOP academic background so I am used to classes with a clear design.) and backend technologies.
But I had fun. On the job hunt now, looking for a junior dev role. I am willing to move anywhere (as long as it's not in the middle of no where. lol), and they have some type of night life.

Wow, i just put myself in her shoes and it takes a lot to just stare in a camera and talk at length to the camera and make your listeners feeling as if your talking directly to them. Thats the vibe I get at least, like shes in the room by herself and sometimesI think people dont think about that because people like her make you feel like its personal so I just wanna say thank you for your heart and kindness and taking the time to prepare wanna be devs for the realworld. Sounds amazing. Ive been working with cnc machines for 18 years and now started learning python this Summer. Everything you say makes so much sense.
Doing this for "lifestyle" will never work but the feeling of learning and when something get solved is allready so much fun for me. Hope i can switch my work to software sometime in future.
Also many people dont understand how exhausting it can be to actually think all the time at work.. and i dont mean by just think what you are doing but REALLY think when fixing bugs or making programs

Thank you for making this informative video on what a junior developer actually does. I was specifically interested in what work and tickets are usually assigned. No one usually mentions this in their videos. I am about to finish a coding bootcamp/programme in my country at the end of the year. This helps put me at ease for what to expect for my first developer role.

Wow, that's so so different that what juniors are expected to do where I work. They are supposed to jump directly in whatever current product / project codebase we are working on and contribute such as developping new (small) features, that could end up in production for the next release.

Yeah I think it depends a lot on company and even what team you’re on! The learning was definitely through building too, so I was still expected to contribute to new features. But it was at the same time as learning. Its probably not as different as you’re thinking! But maybe less intense than where you’re at

Total luck! I wasn’t looking for remote exclusively, just applied to anything that seemed interesting. I used LinkedIn

Very good video, i have been working as a front end developer for 1 yr and 8 months but still regard myself as a junior. I could quite relate when you said how you spent your first few months finishing small tasks and getting familiar with the codebase, but later get more and more comfortable with coding. Anyway, keep on making more great contents~

Thanks! I don’t think it’s cured (as in I always sleep well), it comes and goes depending on my anxiety levels. But I’m managing it well!

Do you do CI/CD based on your life cycle? Certainly, it is a cool when you have a bucket of tasks and you can pick any and start working on.

What does career growth look like as a developer in your company? Do you expect to go into management down the road or stay as an IC?
There’s the option to do management or be a specialist. I haven’t decided yet!
Self taught was engineer here, have always thought about going into development. I have swift under my belt but just don't know if I want to deal with the on call most devs have.

According to Glassdoor seems like it’s between 80-100k
well from way she speaks about the technical side of things she would be the most junior i've ever seen

Surprising though is the tasks you did when you started, it sounds like achieving tasks for someone starting to learn how to code. In Europe, the market for software JD is extremely competitive, you won't get a job if you don't have previous experience. Your CV is automatically scanned by a software, if you don't have exp, you will be rejected. Yes, it's stupid af, you could be Einstein with no exp and rejected. The problem are also the coding bootcamp schools who send thousands of JD who are seeking for a job because they followed a 6 weeks bootcamp.
yeah, i think it really depends where you work so i wouldn't take my experience to represent the US vs Europe or anything like that. i also felt that the first couple of tasks in the beginning were easy, but i think my team was trying to allow more time to adjust to a new team and environment, so that was really nice! also if you're hiring someone who has only been coding for 4 months, you can't expect them to know a whole lot 😆

You need to be a good self learner being a software engineer, because technologies get changed ever 2-3 years.

@@Randomuser005 It could be different situations, sometime you have a passion doing but it's paid very little. Sometime you do not have a passion to anything. So it's always compromise. But you can be lucky and have a passion to do something very valuable and paid well.

in my opinion, you have to like it enough to put up with how challenging it can be. passion really helps. if not you will be miserable
