    I really enjoyed this. Not every project has an unlimited budget and a staff of 30 people to build an exquisite masterpiece. This was still expensive and a bunch of work. He saved a car in very poor shape, and was very close to the grave, and likely added 10-20 years to its life. He did that old Z a big favor. Great job.

      It's not a "restoration " with color change and engine swap for the purist, but a nice street rod, or restomod as they call them now.

    Beautiful job! It’s my dream to have a car just like this rebuilt with as much love and care as this!

    I remember when you could rebuild an engine for under $300, and you could top it off with a complete chrome dress-up kit for about $100. Where have those days gone? 😦

    I still have my 81 Z 28. Just painted it original GM Gold Poly W/ solid root beer brown stripes. New carpet, reapolsterd seats, carpet, shocks, brakes, rear leafs, tires, sway bar bushings, battery, Pittman arm, ideler arm, 2 1/2" Dynomax exhaust, ceramicoat chrome headers, 350 4 bolt, ported 2:02's, 10:01 0.30 over pistons, Comp. Xtream cam, Weiand dual plane intake, Holley 650 dbbl. pump dual feed mech. secondaries, Accel Super coil ignition, Cloyes timing chains and gears, flex fan, B&M shift kitt and hole shot torque converter.
    Took me 20 years - money issues and I did all the paint a mechanical work myself. Should be ready for the Michigan car shows 2021.

    Amazing job! Everything was done right. I owned a 80 z28 the door handles on the inside broke and I had to put bigger and bigger washers to hold the screw in.

    Only thing you left out was a video so we could see and hear it come to life, otherwise great video, great dedication, and great results. Well done.

    Absolutely stunning! I have only two favorite colors, maroon and blue. I once had a 1980 midnight blue Z28 that came from Apopka, FL. I always said if I ever had the opportunity to own another one that I would have it painted this exact color. Love the restoration and thanks for sharing. 🏆 quality!!

    Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like this build was done backwards at times? I like the results, don't get me wrong. But painting the car before all the necessary disassembly was done seems awkward and a lot of extra work.

      Could have been a legal issue with the paint so they wanted to get it out of the way asap

    • @sprsprtrudy
      @sprsprtrudy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Dragonstorm1557GAMING a legal issue with paint? stick to video games kid.. lol what possible legal issue could you imagine that would effect that? besides you being clueless?

    • @kevinshiley9061
      @kevinshiley9061 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Painting in your garage, exhausting your overspray and fumes into the outside air, is not legal in many states. One of the reason the back alley paint shops are disappearing. It costs too much to buy the appropriate equipment to comply with all the Federal regulations!!

    Excellent result.
    I don't understand why it was painted first though. I cannot get my head around that idea.
    All the same, it looks brilliant.

    • @jeffreyb6165
      @jeffreyb6165 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was wondering the same. Maybe his original plan was just to do the body and be done with it, then later on he got that itch again and decided to do a full resoration. You know how we car folks are....nothing is ever finished in our minds and we can always find something else to do. 😄

    • @paulmckinney2905
      @paulmckinney2905 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought it was an excellent idea to paint it first... I know it's a lot of work to protect the new paint but to get to see the end result as you go... to me would be the extra determination... it beats just having it visualized in my mind !

    I wish someone would tell these kids what the word "restoration" means cuz it don't mean this even though the guy did a nice job REMAKING that Camaro into something else almost completely.

    This is not a restoration, this is customized. Devalued this camaro by installing a late model LS engine.

      glenn kometscher exactly dipshit the dash is curved! Watch the video once again.
      Is it painful to be that stupid.

    • @southside1025
      @southside1025 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      maybe you should watch the video AGAIN glenn! this does have the wraparound/curved dash and if you look closely it also has the FASTEN SEAT BELT that is a STAND ALONE light above the radio and that was on the gauges as light from 78 up! YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT CARS! from a former Camaro owner 1969, 1974,1976,1978 & 1979

    • @southside1025
      @southside1025 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      at the 14:28 mark you can see to new dash gauges and they are the WRAPAROUND type

    • @southside1025
      @southside1025 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      at 16:28 you can CLEARLY SEE the dash its self is the WRAPAROUND!!

    • @southside1025
      @southside1025 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      and at 16:50 there is a VERY CLEAR shot of the WRAPAROUND DASH with the FASTEN SEAT BELT light on the dash above the radio. GEEZ I bet you feel really STUPID, if you don't then you should!!!!!
