I’m the biggest fan of roadster shop… 6 years of working at Autotopia, I’ve met the best builders and seen all sorts of custom cars. Nothing has even come close to these guys. Let’s blow up this channel so I can afford a roadster shop car one day!!!
Will do if you provide a ride along if not a chance to drive it 😁
That is how these cars should have been built from the beginning!
Hell yeah 👍 they looked 100mph sitting still
Yep. My stock 1980 Z27 was a dog, but it looked so cool to me.
How could they have this engine in 1979 when it didn't exist?
@@midnight347
That is a true statement. I had these cars back in the day, they lacked everything. This car is a full package.
@@midnight347 They didn't have this engine but Government in the way is the only reason they didn't at least come closer. In 1969 you could get an aluminum ZL1427 or an L88 Iron block that make power the "old school" way with big displacement and a lot compression and cam. Imagine a world 10 years later, 1979, without emissions having killing everything. 755 super charged in a light weight high tech package wasn't gonna happen by then but could 500-600HP in a raw, big block have happened.......probably. Once again.....let Government into your business and expect everything to go into the toilet. Mean while. In the 1980s I saw plenty of cars EXACTLY like this with engines set up by the owner running up to 400HP small blocks They didn't perform like this but they were doing 12-13 sec 1/4 miles and retaining the stock outside appearance. Pretty good for guys having to re-imagine the good looking car they owned that couldn't get out of it's own way with a sub 200HP low compression sad sack 350.
I love a driver over a show car! This car is just right!
Always 🤣☝️I don't understand folks that barely drive their cars.
I always say about my 95 driver
" its a $5200 daily driver I show. It's not a $50,000 show car I bought.
@@TreyGoose Makes 0 sense to me. They are afraid of their own shadow like somoenes gonna wreck it every other block.
Paranoia! Youd think they never heard of insurance!.
Roadster shop builds premium cars and that Z28 survivor series is proof ❤😁😮🤙
That is a rolling piece of art, an absolute thing of beauty!!!
Yep and a total driver car too
The only thing missing was a Van Halen Soundtrack to the burnouts.
Def Leopard mannnnn!
But yeah, Hot For Teacher whilst popping out of pit lane at Laguna
It's a frankenstein pos
This Camaro Z28 sums up the ideal restomod for me: original exterior and interior styling with the addition of a new generation chassis and suspension, along with a modern engine and transmission. Congratulations to Roadter shop for being able to interpret the concept!
The best part is found in the "sleeper" thing. It's hard to call out any car with so much visual effort to make 'em look fast as a "sleeper" yet most of us know full well what was going on in 1979. When you see a late 70s model Trans Am or Z/28 you expect no power at all. Then this happens......that's a "sleeper"!!
I say it every time, but less is truly more on the exterior of any old muscle car. Everything is perfect down to the wheels. These guys know what they’re doing, Hell of a ride.
These wheels are perfect! In proportion unlike bigger dia retro wheels out there.
Love this color combo..was 10 when this came out and remember riding my Schwinn stingray to the dealer to drool over these.
"It nails the era". I was thinking of something cool to say about this car, but it was already said early in the vid. This car came out when I turned 16 and got my license. Every teenage gearhead I hung out with wanted a gen 2 rubber faced Camaro. '79 Camaros don't get better than this. What a great evolution of the original design. This is the Kay Parker of gen 2 Camaros.
Between Art Morrison and Roadster Shop, the muscle car was given new life. The ability to haul ass AND corner! With great brakes, great handling, great power and torque, and great looks. One of my favorite muscle cars ever made. My best friend's dad had a 78' or so that someone dropped a 400cu.in. GTO motor into in the 80's and it was a little built and was bright assed yellow. Shag carpet on the head liner and all! That car would pin me to the seat we he got on it. It had a broken speedo as well, so he just kept up with traffic. Very fast great looking car! Personally, my favorite Camaros are the 70 1/2, 71', 72', and 73'. That vulture beak front end, that long body style, and in a GM/Chevy Black Cherry Metallic with some sweet OG Kragers or Center Lines or kindey slot mags... Just gorgeous! Great work roadster shop, it's beautiful and very nicely done without being tacky or overdone!
79 Hardcore best decade vibes with the power and mods to never apologize.
Probably the raddest Camaro from the era that I have seen. ☮️💙
Same for me
Giving me Miami Vice feels
I have watched the Roadster Shop videos of the Grand National and this Z28 SEVERAL times! Both of those cars are just unreal!
This is the first car I ever had. Mine had orange deckles on it and red interior. I miss it.😢
These Camaros used to be common. Originally had a 350 and the hood scoop door would open when you mashed the accelerator 😂
The cowl induction flap would open anytime you pressed the gas hard enough to engage the four barrel.
When I was a kid my brother had one and always told me to look at the hood scoop when he accelerated 😅
Your humility and hard work make your channel stand out. Well done.
its a bot dude
It’s still a nice compliment lol😂
Haha, I love Jeremy coaxing him into putting the pedal into the metal! Hell Yes is right.
My first car was a 78 z28. Worked my ass off to buy the part's to make it one of the baddest looking cars on the road. It's been over 40 years since I sold it. When I think of what I would do with that car if I still owned it.... This car is it!!
I bought a 67 in 73 for 775.00 when I was 17 , it had 89,000 miles on it and rebuilt it at 99,000 and today it has 110,000 miles on it and never out of the garage.
@@patrickjohnson7801 Why isnt it being driven?
@@gordocarbo keeping it for my son that was born in 85 , in 73 I also bought a 65 convertible GT mustang and a 71 amx with a 401 ,
Went on to New car's and trucks, boats and a couple of motorhomes, just got to busy I guess
Never thought a old Camaro would be worth anything.
@@patrickjohnson7801 1st car was a 67 rs 4 spd I bought in mid 80s for 1200. Fell in love with that thing
@@patrickjohnson7801 So hes about 30 now? Hope hes really into it otherwise youll hear a story of how he suddenly had to sell it.
Man hats off to these guys. No stone unturned on all of the builds they represent. Bad ass build.
Dude! This thing is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely love this car! The only thing that could make this build cooler is if they found the original car that was on "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" that was owned by Jefferson! Man, this car is so fucking cool!
Awesome car. Perfect blend of new and old. Not over restored like a lot of builds today…
Finally.. someone fixed my Z.. I want it.. like right now. What's cool is the frame they used. A really top shelf build. 100,000?.. more?
Bet its a ton more than that, Wish GM used a full frame on Camaros from day 1.
The Roadster Shop guys always build the coolest stuff!
Everything this guy dose is absolutely perfect. Now he just did my dads z28 ❤🔥🔥both you guys 🙌😎💪
Reminds me Fast Times Ridgemont High... Charles Jefferson....
Young Jefferson: "He's gonna shit", "He's gonna kill us"
Spicolli: "Is he gonna shit or is he gonna kill us"
Jefferson's brother: " first he's gonna shit, then he's gonna kill us"😁
Why does the Roadster Shop build every car that I want LoL.
I know the feeling
I clicked on this so fast!!
Dude. That is sweet. The digital cluster is so cool
I couldn't be more happy to hear about their " survivor " line. The focus on useable over perfection. Personally if I dumped over 100,000 k on any car/truck I'm gonna drive the snot out of it. To me as a mechanic and a car person since I was 3yrs old, they are a consumable item and one should use them for what they are built to do.
Yet guys spend all kinds of money and almost brag "My cars too nice to drive it will get ruined!" .
Weirdo stuff. First drive after a 12 yr frame off was on the fwy pouring rain and loved it. Didnt melt, amazing!
@@gordocarbo if you spend the time and money you should almost be required to use the darn thing right? I don't care if it's perfect or rough....enjoy the machine 😎✌️👍
This car is putting a smile on my face and i’m not even there. Such a badass car
That is BADASS!!!
Love what they did to the hood, looks great.
That exhaust is wild. Such a cool, functional build.
That was the most honest chat about exhausts ever.
I’m💯sure they either sound good or don’t.
If they don’t you can change it, and that’s it.
But before it’s built and started. Nobody knows.
Brings back my youth when I had a black on black "81 Z28 4 speed, but the 305 cu was replaced with a L82 that made that car a blast to drive. I still miss that car.
I would love to do the LT5 in my 81 Pontiac Trans Am Daytona 500 pace car.,
That 79 Z28 rocks 👍
Love seeing late 70's and 80's cars getting modern makeovers.
Coolest 79 camaro I’ve ever seen!!!!!
Great platform from an upgrade/ full restoration. Finally, there is performance that can catch up with the looks that it had originally. 11:45 Helmholt Resonation also gives a small "turbo-like" effect for a short duration. It's one of the keys to what made the Gen1/Gen2 Taurus SHO's such special cars in their day.
Nice car excellent craftsmanship on the hood keeping the factory flow. That is a nice interior multimedia gauge set up. High tech. I am with these guys quit building full size models that just sit. Make a clean custom you can drive.
Iv never liked a single modern dash in a classic ever.
Until today.
Well done👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That’s just done so nicely.
I love this channel and I have to say "Rock on AutotopiaLA" and I totally dig this ride. Play "Workin for the weekend" by Loverboy that's the Canadian native in me.
I want that damn car. I love it. You guys are the kings.I love this subscription
Those guys do such amazing work!
Exactly what i wanted to do with my 76' Trans Am Carousel Red (hugger orange)400c.i., the decals still faded on it
so freaking cool. the perfect combination of iconic late 70’s strangely attractive mediocrity combined with a substantial( but subtle)modern flare.
Oh man, that's a nice one! Always wanted a Camaro like that.
🏁😎👍👍
I'm 36 now but been a huge fan since rampage!!!! If I ever get far ahead in life or hit some lottery "that I don't play 😅" Roadster shop is the only place I'd get a pre 90's car build.......😊 and I can think of far to many 😂🎉
Loving the Z28
Me too!
💯
Excellent car! My wife and I bought our first new car in 1978. It was a white Z28. Like they say, wish we still had it! :)
Roadster shop dude's looks as mean and tough as the car. It's like... he know his shit!
Jeremy is pure cool and knows his business well
Dam that is pure 🔥 I’ve never seen a better 78 Camaro! Or wanted one till now ha ha 😝 Top notch work Roadster shop 👍
You did that car perfect...the rims are exact love the white...plus resembles stock... which is my style
That's awesome!, sits really nice.
I miss the days when you could pick these up for not alot of cash.
Looking forward to what you find next!
Never been a fan of this body style but this is so well done. I love it. This is dialed in zero sketch.
From all the videos on Roadster shop.... am i right in guessing they can build a customer just about anything if the cash is available? I'd get that 13 litre from Sonny's into one of their chassis.... and all i got to do is plonk down whatever cash they want? Am i right or what? 😃
Pretty close to right. They’re not cheap but they build some of the finest rides out there that look as good as they drive. Give em a call…build a beast!
Wow...nicest camaro ever! ❤❤❤
Lookin Good and Goin Fast is what we care about .. Safety is always 2nd on the list because we know it doesn't exist
Jeremy, rhe 79 Camaro not only nails the era, it transcends it You think the 80s, that wasn't that long ago but it is 35 years ago. Somehow the Roadster Shop knows just the right tweeks to make it look cool but not campy. The hood scoop sseems like it came right out of the factory that way. The choices that were made for this car are just so perfect. I also subscribe to the Roadster Shop channel and an always anxiously anticipating the next build.
Thank you Shawn for featuring them on your channel. Two of my favorites come together in one places, you can't beat that
Love that scoop! Looks factory til you look closely at it. Sublte classy mods really get my attention....one reason rides like this cost what they do.
I remember these when they came out back in high school, my favorite color combo, god I want one.
Hell yeah! That’s is a beauty 🤘🔥 that digital dash is so dope, and sounds incredible
Love that ram air hood 😍 and the hood release... The color... The shifter... The console...the....❤🎉😂
if I had millions I would def find a clean trans am 78 and let roadster shop make it fast and perfect esp with that retro dash they have omg, because the original car is cool but this is a fully built redone, drive able, powerful, version, kudos to roaster shop, cool guys, super high quality, super customer service and they get all their satisfaction from what they make and making cars that are drivable and pleases the customer, class act builder if you can afford them!!!!!!!
You guys did it again ! Sooooooo bad ass Shawn and Roadstershop! Your work on both aspects is just top tier with your shoots to Roadster shops awesome work
this car is a beauty, the 77-78 trans am is more pretty and cooler
I sure miss my Z28 , 💯
But I love it and I’m
Never giving it back bro!
I need one of these badly
@@WOZCINEMA I’d never let this one go if it was mine
Badass car! Very well done Roadster Shop! The wheels are perfect. Keep it up Autotopia LA.
Shaun, it's nice to see that you hooked up with the best hot rod shop in the U.S..
Yeah…this is our 2nd time shooting with them. Dig into our channel and we shot the Rogan Cuda, their crazy Grand National and Road Rage Camaro…they’re at the top 1% of the industry imo
Had same car,with 600hp less hahahaha,even with stock 350
Way to throw down on a LT5 crate engine. Wish they were still available.
Definitely my personal favorite car on the channel so far.
LOVE this car - love the simplicity ... or ... the appearance of simplicity - but with supercar pinnings underneath.
It’s such a perfect build imo
DUDE I absolutely love it. Sound's just like my holden CV8 monaro now I have the LSA supercharged v8 in it. Way better than it did. Awesome build ans love the color ans rim combo👌👌
They killed it on this build! I fell in love with this one
A second gen gets the engine whats deserve!
Please more of it!
Digging on that gold 68 Camaro "survivor" series in the beginning. That is bad to the bone, sleeper special!
DOes he have any more info or pics on that build? that is right up my alley, huge Camaro geek.
Check out Roadster Shop website. They’re great about documenting their builds
I love the gen 2. You need that F1 drone that does 0-200 mph in 2 seconds :)
I know 70s muscle cars are still the thing but man I have been waiting for the 80s restomod era to take off. This thing is so cool. That interior really sparks the imagination. Imagine taking a DeLorean, with a custom dash kit like that and not just another black to the future knockoff either. So many 80s TV shows and cartoons were based around cool cars. I know I have been wanting to make a style of restomod cars from the 80s called retrofuturism. I may need to make one or two and see if they sell.
I can see a comment like this coming from a "John Conner" 😂🤣 but I second that emotion.
My first car was a 79' Rally Sport. This one gave me goosebumps.
chulada de camaro me encantan esos autos
My 18 year old self would've killed for this.
That’s 1 bad mofo there!! Almost as bad ass as the Grand National
1 bad ass ride
Definitely
Awesome!! Would like to do the same with a ‘77 Z28.
That Exhaust popping sounds like sh*t .
‘One generation apart’ that’s hit yo hurt dude 😂 saying as someone also in the 50 club 😎 🤘 cool car too
Truth hurts sometimes lol
Sean your face shows how much fun your having!!! 😉😊😊
Roadster shop should design a subframe like this Camaro for the '69 Nova (Survivor Series) that allows the original chassis to be removed and replaced, without the need to modify the body.
10 thumbs up.....
First car was my cousin's '75 Rally Sport Camaro 4 speed white with flat black hood and roof and white Z28 wheels...would smoke the tires effortlessly... still dream about it some nights...gonna have to find another one day.. car was a fucking blast and a head turner ... every shop i had work done the employees wanted to buy it 😂
Outstanding work gentleman you really know how to put a car together
Yowza!
Sure beats a smogged down, lame azz 175 HP 350 SBC!
Yes it does
Hi Shawn Hi Jeremy, you have done what I dreamed up 45 years ago. I always thought that maybe you could run the full frame but had to cut channels into the body. The closest car that I could compare to this build was my 77 Trans Am shot it Mother of Pearl White put a 150 shot of Nitrous with the factory 4 speed on the bone stock carbed 400 Pontiac. It had cut outs but had to pull up onto the sidewalk and slide under to open them. Lol!! Great Video Thank You 🙏
This is such a perfect build in every way. The RS guys are at the top 1% of all builders imo
Yes they are, have you heard of Tom Scarpello here in Florida who builds Mustangs. You have to interview him, he’s in the same ballpark as Jeremy from Roadster Shop. Have an Awesome Power Tour, Be Safe and God Bless!!
F ya! A Bitching Camaro with my 19 ZR1 motor in it. Nothing better!
thank you for a Bitchin channel! What a car! and thank you The Dead Milkmen!
That power plant in here is so good!
@@AutotopiaLA scares me every time I fire that Vette up but I respect it. cant imagine that camaro with that beast under the hood! tell that guy its wicked Bitchin! kudos
I'm gonna be 50 next year and really remember these cars in High School running around.
Whenever I see one ,I always think of Fast times at Ridgemont high. Great episode.
That motor makes all the right sounds, 1 spin, 2 chirp some spin, squat and go,, wheewww. Then the digital gauges, bon appetit
Sweet car, reminds me of high school
Jeremy im a massive fan a huge fan of the like of Strope The Ring Brothers these type of auto artists and mate you are right up there in that leauge ,this 28 has to be the most beautiful one ive ever seen ,this is art on wheels but its usable street art ,there is nothing i dont like on this build ,this is a build ill be sharing with all the beaters and painters at smoko tomorrow ,this type of build is inspirational ,il be chasing down your social and follow ,much respect from Australia
Seeing Jeremy rail on his cars proves how legit the roadster shop builds are. All of them uniquely cool in every way but when it’s time to bury your right foot they take it over and over again. Amazing video guys keep it up!!
The confidence he has in thier cars says it all they know its bulletproof.
Im in love with this z28 😎😎😎😎
Me too!
sell the house sell car sell the kids buy it now
Thats a beautiful z 28. That ls 5 is what it needed all its life. BADASS BRO
