      Zippo You have helped me more times than I can remember! I have a 1975 Simplicity LandLord 7010 Six Speed with bevel gearbox issue. your detail rebuild video helped me save a lawn tractor that was like a member of the family. Others said scrap it get a new one, they don't build them to last "50" years. Thanks and now just used your spindle rebuild, thank brother!!

    on my first simplicity broadmoor - late 60's maybe? had square solid grill, no lites. anyway, that one i sold cause it literally would eat deck spindle berings, and the mandrel looked fine. sold that, fast forward many years to my ' 69 broadmoor , tried taking mandrels apart on that and using a 3 jaw puller, i broke the pulley- well a lil chunk anyway.

    having a heck of a time with my spindles the pulleys are just tin😧
    Any chance you have any suggestions for 3 cast iron replacement pulley for the deck belt?
    Trying to salvage what I have not much luck yet.

    Very nice job, got a link to the bearing splitter kit and the three jaw puller?

      Those kind of things you can often get at harbor freight. Yea I know how people hate HF but I have one from the 80s still pulling fine.

    Off the main subject here, Zip, but where can I get a bearing separator kit like yours?

    can you use just general purpose machinery bearings? like from tractor supply? probably would be fine because they are meant for larger equipment.

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, they're a standard commonly found bearing. Cheers M&M!! Zip~

      Hey zippo. Just about to follow your great video to rebuild mine. Could you tell me what size bearings or number so I can track down the right ones without wasting days trying to find the right ones. Great vid!

    You stated Z9504RST first, then Z904RST, and unfortunately the focus was insufficient to make it out. I can figure it out though. Having a devil of a time with a brand new B&S arbor replacement that has a thick coating of paint all over the shaft and keyway. B&S says it belongs there. I can' get the shaft in, and I doubt the key will go into the keyway either. I may have ruined the bearings trying to get the arbor in.

    are the 900 series different from these?

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on the year, but there are many similarities and they use the same bearings. Zip~

    just in case,I had a house jack that lived outside for 15 yrs, acitone and ATF 50/50, in 2 days tuned it with my fingers. just in case you run out. Jim,

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks James! I have my magic concoction I use for stubborn stick parts too which is similar to yours. I use diesel/kerosene and ATF in a 50/50 mix. The Kerosene/Diesel doesn't evaporate as readily as the Acetone or Mineral Spirits would. I think the key in our release agents is the ATF that's thinned in some form or fashion. Great minds think alike! Cheers James! Zip~

    • @ships21cooker
      @ships21cooker 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for that one kid. didn't think of kerosene,

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't evaporate like the mineral spirits, naptha or acetone does, and cuts the ATF nicely. Glad you like the idea! But don't be sold on it until you give it a try! Cheers James! Zip~

    I pick the seals out of the new bearings and grease them the old ways. The greaseless wonder bearings dont seem to have the life . I grease the deck every 5th time mowing

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would tend to agree with this idea Randy. Bearings these days are mostly mass produced from Communist China and poor quality at best. Good Idea! Zip~

    "You can't force grease into them." Sorry, but I have been shown that's not true. The new head of our maintenance department told me grease would actually pass right through these sealed bearings. I borrowed the company's power grease gun and filled three spindles, one after the other, and grease came out the top and bottom of all three after approximately 70 pumps each. Try it yourself!
