This is also the perfect food when you aren’t feeling well or are feeling a bit blue. It’s nourishing, comforting, no brash flavors or textures, and yet it isn’t boring at all. I did use homemade vegetable stock instead of water simply because I had to use it before it spoiled, and it added a little flavor but honestly, I wouldn’t bother next time.

I absolutely love your recipes and so is this one, but I need to step in to let you know that this is not Prasad/Naivedyam of any Traditional Hindu Practice. I normally do not comment when things can be avoided, but this by no means is how any Hindu Temple would accept a Prasad unless it is a modern temple like ISKCON. The reason being vegetables used are mostly not in the order of Indian origin and that's why a khichdi/Pongal for Naivedyam will have most basic elements like dal, rice, peppercorns and Rock Salt. Or the naivedyams will be puliyodare, curd rice, payasam, which if you notice have a primary combination of dal rice and nuts, salt or jaggery, all of which are native to this land... The adding of new vegetable items in a khichdi is done now in modern times. Therefore, please do not advertise this as "Prasad wali" khichdi and if you really want to... Then please mention the name of the temple or mention "mere Ghar ki prasad wali khichdi"... You may wonder what could go wrong with a harmless video like this. I'll tell you what could... Children or women who learn cooking these days through TH-cam will start believing after a few years that this is how a Prasad is supposed to be, completely forgetting the traditional stance to every cultural aspect of Hinduism.
Thank u mam for wonderful explanation. Thank u so much. This youtubers want to sell anything esp hindus are way more careless than others. Because we hindus are liberal abt out religion don't think it's our identity our ancestors sacrifices all involved in this.

Looks appetising!! Any reason for roasting the daal prior to soaking? 🤔

This is puja khichdi recipe followed in North India and Bengal
This is normal prasadam recipe in Bengal in almost all pujas. What are you saying ?
Actually this is Kichodi made during durga Puja as Prasad in bengoli temples or pandals.
Sorry it's bhoger Khichuri.
