How to find fault and troubleshoot Panasonic split system

  • If your Panasonic split system isn't running as it should, first thing you will need to check is the timer light. If this is flashing, your system is in fault.
    Start by turning the power off to the system via either the isolator next to the outdoor unit, or by finding the circuit breaker on your switchboard. Leave the system off for at least 30 seconds, then switch back on. If the timer light is still flashing, this indicates a more serious issue.
    Next, you will need to have the Panasonic controller handy. With a small, pointed object, you will need to press and hold the 'check' button at the bottom of the controller. Hold this until the screen on the controller goes blank, then press the 'up' button until you hear a long continuous beep. The fault code will now display on the controller.
    You will need to reference the Panasonic fault code guide and see what the displayed error code relates too, then contact your nearest authorised repairer.
    We hope this has been helpful, and thank you for watching!

    Thank you. This is very handy to know. I had the blinking Green Power Light, no heat or fan. I dusted off the filters and have managed to get it working again. Only had it for just over a year. Cheers, mate.

      A green blinking light on Panasonic’s just mean the unit is warming up (at the beginning) or defrosting (during heating) it’s completely normal

    Good video. I have a Panasonic split system and it cannot maintain a cool temperature in the room. It will cool and then it seems to stop cooling. I'm going to check for trouble codes and see what it says. Thanks for the heads up.

    • @dawsonhc
      @dawsonhc  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Keith. If the system cools sometimes and not others, there is multiple things that could be going wrong.
      You could have a refrigerant leak, or potentially a fault with your compressor. The only time the system should ramp down, or stop cooling, is when the room temperature reaches or gets close to set point, or alternatively when one of the safety devices or thermistors sensors a fault. Things like dirty filters, blocked coils, over temperature safety's devices etc will all cause the system to stop cooling or stop the system cooling at its optimal efficiency.
      It's likely you will need a qualified technician to come out to site and investigate the issue further. Best of luck.

    How to retrieve error code if my Panasonic inverter Aircon doesn't have check button?

    • @dawsonhc
      @dawsonhc  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi KaiSoon. If you can email through a picture of your controller and also confirm the model number of your system (a picture of the compliance plate is best) we can then hopefully provide some better advise and options for you to consider. Ultimately if the system can't be reset by a power off (for 30 seconds) and back on again, then it's likely a more serious fault that will require a qualified refrigeration / HVAC technician to inspect and repair. Our email is sales@dawsonhc.com.au if you still need assistance.
      Good luck and have a great day.

    Hi! Our Panasonic Nanoe inverter will be 1 year this Aug 2021 but the temp is not that cold anymore. Usually when its on 22 its already cold so after like 30mins we set it to 24. Now we set it to to 18 or even 16 for us to feel cold. We thought its dirty so ask tech to clean it but its still thesame. Pls help

    • @dawsonhc
      @dawsonhc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This could potentially indicate that the system could be low on refrigerant. If the filters are clean, and there is no other restrictions to the outdoor coil or indoor unit airflow, then the first thing we would suggest is to get the refrigerant level checked by a qualified refrigeration mechanic. We can help with this in the Canberra region, or alternatively if you are in another region, we are happy to make a recommendation of someone in your area if we know of someone.

    my panasonic inverter split type is not cooling as it used too. In a span of 3 months I had it pulled down for complete unit cleaning, added freon, and cleaned again, but it's not cooling. even on 18c, it feels like I am just using a portable air coller using a cold water

    • @KeithHeinrich
      @KeithHeinrich ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you ever get it sorted?

    • @dawsonhc
      @dawsonhc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is certainly not what you should expect from a Panasonic or any other brand of split system if installed and maintained correctly. The likely cause is there is a major fault with the system (eg. refrigerant charge low, incorrect refrigerant, air in the system, in-efficient compressor etc). Alternatively similar faults can occur if the system is extremely undersized for the the space. I would assume that if it originally worked well, that this wouldn't be the case, but all things need to be considered.
      If you have had refrigerant (Freon) added, I would hope and expect that the cause of the refrigerant leak was discovered by the technician and the leak was repaired prior to re-gassing with new Refrigerant? If not the refrigerant can easily leak straight back out again.
      I would suggest the last technician who re-gassed the system should come back and double check the refrigerant levels are still sufficient.
      Goog luck

      It seems to be mechanically and electrically ok. Still does not keep a room cool. Planning to replace it with a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries ac.

    • @KeithHeinrich
      @KeithHeinrich ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dawsonhc the cooling is fine, its likely the stupid brain that Panasonic inflicted upon these units whereby the do what they think instead of what you tell them - this is the model with the fuzzy logic power saving feature.
      It's a 3.5kW unit in a standard sized bedroom. It will cool very well no problem then at some point when everyone is asleep, it decides no one is there and decides to turn the cooling down.
      I've not been able to figure out how to disable its tiny brain so it just cools like a regular ac unit. Have enjoyed good performance with the Mitsu units, I'll go there for something known do as its told. ;)
      But I did do all the checks mentioned anyway, nothing out of the ordinary was found.

    • @dawsonhc
      @dawsonhc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KeithHeinrich You may be correct if the system is going into Economy mode during times it thinks the room is occupied. Depending on the model, there is an Economy button, that when activated, it engages the economy mode and increases or reduces the set-point by 2-3 degrees Celsius to reduce power consumption. This function should not be operational al the time, and only when selected.
      The only other thing I can think of is that Quiet mode wll also reduce the system capacity due to minimising the indoor fan speed.
      We hope you have some luck getting it back to normal operation ASAP.

    • @dawsonhc

    My panasonic split type power is blinking what should i do??

    • @dawsonhc
      @dawsonhc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should firstly follow the instructions on the video which to begin with suggest your try and reset the power supply. If the blinking continues you should push and hold the check button on the controller with a small pin, before pushing the up arrow until you hear a long beep. Then you can refer to the code and it will confirm what the fault is.
      This can then be relayed to your service technician to assist with his diagnosis.

    My heatpump detected a H00 code when I followed all your instructions. But that means no error detected. But it’s still blinking timer light and not working

    • @dawsonhc
      @dawsonhc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry but this is not a common occurrence but we will try and help with the following suggestion which show's you how to Erase the Error Code Memory:
      - Step 1: During Standby, press and hold the Auto OFF/ON button (located on the indoor unit, under the front panel) for 5 seconds until a "beep" sound is played.
      - Step 2: Press and hold the check button for 1 second on the wireless remote controller while pointing towards the indoor unit until you hear a "beep".
      The error code history should now be cleared. I would suggest trying another power down of the entire system if this does not work, and if the problem persists it will be best to contact your local qualified HVAC Service Agent.
      Good luck

    • @dawsonhc
      @dawsonhc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Michael,
      If the system is showing H00, and not beeping, this means there is no active fault showing on the indoor PCB.
      If the system is not operating correctly, then the system is yet to register its own fault.
      Please make sure you attempt a power reset. If you still have problems I would suggest contact your local service agent.
      If you would like to discuss your issue further, please either reply to this message, or you can email us at sales@dawsonhc.com.au
