    HEy man nice bike, i just got one i will be restoring. I don't get why people insist on trying to put other you tube users down. Here you took the time to post a video of an extreamly cool bike and all they can do is critisize? they just dream they could own somthing that nice. Good job i say. keep it in great shape and it will be like a tank, indistructable.

    one of the best built bikes ever produced. i pickd the F1 up (red w/black side covers,)just after 1980 for 400.00, sweet condition, no scratches of dents, everything was stock except for the kerker exhaust. rode the dog crap out of it. later 80s i came across another F1 for free (Yellow, w/scraches and 1 tiny dent) no side covers and blue spray painted fur seat, and it had the chrome exhaust in sweet condition. battery box was made out of plumbers tape, battery cable was double up piece of extention cord single wrap of black tape, I parked that bike in the back yard covered only half the time until 2005. the red one finally wore the cross hatch out and broke 1 ring., i rode it 15 miles home. had to figure out how I was gonna get to work the next day. pulled the motor out of the yellow, put the red's carbs on it, changed or added oil. and fired it up. been riding it since then, wfo it gets over 45mpg+ and will hit 100mph fast (laying on the tank,) Registration here in CA is 75 bucks or close, Insurancei is another 75 per year.everything the p/o did to the bike he mcgivered it by using sae corse thread screws and bolts. lag bolts etc. other than that, I got looking the motor/frame had only about 2400 miles on it. bought another cb400fO motor, craigs list for 400, had minor stuck rings and the dia specs were still close to assemble standard, the bores are close to polished, I might just hone it and get std rings, run it stock. or do an ichiban moto cafe or more like brat style.

    My dad had a 72 norton commando 750 that he bought fresh out of high school
    he road it from the time he was 18 to 36 and he said it was the best bike hes ever owned (he owned a few harleys over the years and a 98 ninja)
    He ended up selling it for 5000 back in 94, and its now sitting in a museum in Dayton, Ohio if im correct

    My first street bike was a 75 CB550F Super Sport. I had to sell it. I've been wanting another one ever since.

    I bought one off someone who was getting out of the service in 1976 for $700 with a big ding on the side of the tank-I' d buy it again in a heartbeat-ride safe!

    Nice! I'm thinking as soon as the Sporty's all mine, I'm getting another CB550F. I really miss that bike. Part of the reason I bought the particular Sporty I did was because it was nearly the same color as my 550. LOL

    The 400F is light years ahead of the 350F, so think about that as well when making that final decision if you are going to go with either mentioned. See, for me these bikes are way more fun than a 1000cc bike only because of the fact that you can run them so much harder while staying closer to reason....of course talking about street riding. On the track it would be a whole different story. It's actually quite amazing how well these bikes handle in the turns and how easy they are to own.

    I adore this bike. ever since I read that Peter Egan called it "Lyrical" I had to give it a go.
    At 6'3" I absolutely crush this thing, but still have a blast on it..... its more for my wife....

    I would just say keep an eye out for how clean and original it is..... this one was just a random acquisition. It happens sometimes when you shop on eBay...

    i picked up the 466cc kit for 110.00 but I'm having a hard time with the idea of taking a normally worn set of cylinders of standard bore dia and boring it to 54.5 for 300 dollars machine work. going to .25 is gonna cost 400/500.00 in pistons/rings etc and then 100.00+ boring charge.

    not sure what the pipe is - its unmarked and it came on the bike but yes, its makes a pretty nice sound!! Good luck on yours!

    Great looking bike!! I have an opportunity to buy one as my first bike ever at 17 years old. I am restoring a 1972 Norton Commando right now but want one of these as more of a beginner bike. The guy who has it does not have a computer and has no idea what it is worth, it is ridden every summer but is in good condition. What would any of you guys ask for it in reasonable condition? $2000 to $3000

  • @IanBallard

    Would this bike be good for a beginner lady rider? I absolutely love the look of the 400f and have always wanted a motorcycle after growing up on the back of my dads ducati.

    @HIELOROJO: What about it?

  • @commentsguy1234
    @commentsguy1234 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Compared to todays bikes - of course they are. Want a fast bike from that era? Try a Kawasaki triple two stroke. A real death machine once you get it running well.

  • @HIELOROJO
    @HIELOROJO 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    The tensioner bolt is a shit, usually it is broken(it is in the engine front) look it and test that work well, is a very important thing.
    Sorry for me English.

    yeah she gets annoyed with me - it may be because I already have four bikes.... but she knew what she was getting in to!
    She will be on a vintage Guzzi cafe' bike sooner or later if I have anything say aboot it.

    Is that the stock exhaust ?

    • @eatpasta
      @eatpasta  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The header is stock but whatever that exhaust is was just hose-clamped on by the previous owner. I have a feeling this used to be a race bike as the kick stand was cut off and it has a lumpy idle like it has a cam in it.... its also way faster than another 400 I used to have

  • @eatpasta
    @eatpasta  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @banderse they dont accelerate very fast (its a 30 years old and its only 400cc) but it will corner as fast as you have the courage for. I have embarrassed sport bike guys on this bike

  • @eatpasta
    @eatpasta  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @banderse Well, its all relative. if you're used to a modern literbike, yes, its going to be slow. But lets be honest, bikes are more about how they make you feel. We can have pissing contests all day about how fast our bikes are but it all boils down to who is the better rider. I can smoke a lot of guys on R1's with thing in the canyons.... they just cant ride.
