  • This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2024 Lexus TX 3-row luxury SUV.
    Enter to win a set of Toyo Celsius II all-wether tires. Enter here.www.toyotires.ca/enter-our-co...
    The 2024 Lexus TX is a large 3-row SUV with ample space for passengers. It has a long wheelbase of 116.1” which is the same as the new Toyota Grand Highlander, however, it is 2” longer than the Toyota. There is a key difference between this and the Grand Highlander, the Toyota is a 7-8 passenger SUV, the TX 6-7 passengers. If you need to haul more people, you may find the Toyota to be the better option.
    There isn’t a lot of competition in the luxury 3-row SUV category offering this much space and three different powertrain options including a performance hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. Here’s a breakdown of the models.
    The 2024 Lexus TX 350 has a 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder, 8-speed automatic transmission, 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. Standard AWD in Canada, FWD and AWD options in the US.
    The 2024 Lexus TX 500h, a 2.4L turbocharged hybrid powertrain with a 6-speed automatic transmission, 366 horsepower and standard DIRECT4 AWD.
    The 2024 Lexus TX 550h+ with a 3.5L V6 plug-in hybrid powertrain, it’s matched to a CVT and has a combined 404 horsepower. It gets an EV range of 53 km/33 miles.
    For those wanting a large family hauler in the premium/luxury category the 2024 Lexus TX is tough to beat. It’s spacious offering plenty of first, second and third row legroom. Space behind the third row is also very good which is hard to come by in this segment.
    If you compare the 2024 Lexus TX to the Acura MDX which is another leader for space in the 3-row category, the2024 Lexus TX has about the same amount of front row legroom but an inch more in the second row and 4” more in the third row. The TX has more overall cargo space but also more space behind the second and third rows.
    The2024 Lexus TX 350 and 500h models are on sale now, the TX 550h+ will be available at a later date. The TX is built at the US Indiana plant.
    In the US, the TX 350 FWD model starts at $55,050 USD/AWD $56,650 USD, TX 350 Premium FWD $58,450 USD/AWD $60,050 USD, TX 350 Luxury FWD $60,950 USD/AWD $62,550 USD, TX 500h F Sport Performance Premium AWD $69,350 USD and TX 500h F Sport Performance Luxury AWD $72,650 USD.

    Thank you, thank you, for including measurements for leg room. I have asked a number of channels for this but you’re the only one who started including it. Your videos have always been good - I watch till the end every time - but the two of you have really improved the product in the last year or so. I appreciate your professionalism and the fact you’ve done it without changing your authentic humor and affection for each other. You’ll never be duplicated/copied. Thank you also for catering to USA viewers with measurements, trim offerings, etc.

    I remember the original Prius Prime only having 4 seats. It had something to do with the additional weight of the battery and the suspension setup. My guess is that the hybrid models are already dealing with the additional weight of the battery and having a 7th person plus cargo inside might be problematic.

    Lexus does one thing better than any other car company, service! Highly reliable, premium quality and service unmatched with your own advisor for the maintenance help if needed! While the quality gap has narrowed in the last 20 years no one has come close to service aspect and that is why lots of customers in the 50 plus bracket lease them on regular basis!!

    good camera work for interior, I have an option about the review of trim levels it’s becoming like listening to a chart or spreadsheet. You know when someone presents a PowerPoint and the just read what on the slide. I can read a chart, rather hear about how the sound level is, ac/heat effectiveness, and what you already do which is how the drive and suspension is.

    We got the GH Hybrid Max Platinum last month and started wondering if we should have waited for the TX550h. Not really - especially because of the 'options' that need to be added on even on the Luxury 550h (like the tech package for panoramic monitor etc) and what comes standard on the GH Platinum. That brings the price close to 76k! That's a ~$16k difference for comparable model and features!

I'm from Toronto which apparently is in the province of WE - no option for Ontario. Other options are NAKED, and MWT, which I assume is for the More West Territories. In the US new states include THAT, OF, THERE, BORN, GOLD and GO. I presume "KY" is for Kentucky.🤣

However the TX seem to drive a lot better, do you guys think it is worth jumping from GH Limited Gas to TX 350H Base which is about $11kCAD difference?

      It has to do with gross vehicle weight rating. Having the larger v6 engine plus bigger batteries and bigger electric motors increases the curb weight of the vehicle and inches closer to the gross vehicle weight. So Toyota removed a seat, and eliminated a passenger, so when you load up the car, you don't exceed the gross weight

      If you care at all about driving dynamics and cornering capabilities the x5 as a previous owner who just sold their lease two months ago , I can say is definitively the better buy. But, if that doesn’t matter much to you and float along is what you enjoy then getting this vehicle makes sense. The new x5 is very floaty when I’m comfort mode and veryyyy sporty in sport modes launch control on every model kinda wild, liter under 5 sec sprints up the on ramp we’re fun and we had the plug-in hybrid it was amazing. Buttttt we leased the bmw and we own a Lexus gs 😅soooo yeahhh sigh it’s the Lexus get the Lexus but wooooo was that x5 fun. Maybe lease the x5 for a few years then sell it and get a tax certified pre owned?

    At first, I had a hard time understanding why Lexus would just do a badge job on the Grand Highlander. However, I am kinda coming around on this. Providing you don't want a body-on-frame SUV, Lexus previously had no offering for somebody who wanted to step up from the RX. The TX definitively fixes that. Even if it's more expensive than a Grand Highlander, it's way cheaper on the entry level than any X7 or GLS could ever be. And those big crossovers don't offer any hybrid options at all. Cutting to the chase, I expect that Lexus will be sold out of the TX for months to come.

    Why i dont understand is why companies dont make the second rows the bench seat if they want a 7 pasenger configuration. That way you can have more total cargo volume in the rear. In the center its kind of a waste

    In my opinion, Lexus is losing out on interior luxury. This looks nice, but, not what Lexus used to look like inside. Also, when you give the price for the 4 "competitors" is that in Canadian or US? Thanks for great fun reviews!

      Apparently their going to offer more exterior and interior colors down the road.(according to other auto journalists). The reddish leather option available on the RX would look great in the F-Sport trim for example. They could have had more contrast in the interior, lighter color on the dash to match the door cards etc.

    This is an uppity grand highlander. Toyota/Lexus have been doing this kind of twinning for years. If they insist on putting 4 cylinders in cars this big for emissions then they should drop the base turbo 4 entirely and just stick to the 500h and 550h. And you’re right about the 7 passenger option. Kids don’t need business class.

    Am I understanding it correctly when I say the plug in only has 6 seats? I don't want to buy a car of this size to seat 6. 7 is the minimum.
    I can understand a 3 row middle and then 2 comfy seats in the back, but 6 is missing the point.

    After 24 years owning Lexus LS sedans and 25 years owning a variety of Toyota vehicles (Camry, Prius, Sienna) - all purchased new - my conclusion is that the main benefits of the Lexus brand are an additional year of warranty, better snacks in the customer waiting areas and sometimes the availability of additional comfort, safety and convenience features. Whenever possible, I bought parts for our Lexus vehicles at Toyota dealerships where the cost was less - sometimes far less. I've been more satisfied with service at Toyota dealerships than at Lexus dealerships. My main question about this Lexus TX is whether its adjustable suspension includes automatic leveling or, if not, do its headlights have automatic or manual leveling. Rear end sag can be significant in a minivan - I mean SUV - like the Lexus TX.

      I drive a 2014 gs and have for years now only second owner, gotta say coming from mainline Toyotas and Honda and vw products this does not feel the same sound wise drive the same features wise than the Camry I had of the same generation, and I regularly take Ubers in new Camrys newer than my GS and just the suspension tuning and sound deadening, materials choices. I could go on, I’m surprised you’re saying in you LS you don’t really notice much difference between the Toyota products and Lexus products. Especially given that you’re driving a rear wheel drive architecture as well. Can you elaborate?

    • @H2SO4H20
      @H2SO4H20 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LafemmebearMusic When there have been Lexus and Toyota that were essentially mechanically identical, there hasn't been all that much difference. I'm talking about such "siblings" as the Lexus RX and the Toyota Highlander, the Lexus LX and the Toyota Land Rover, etc. There were never Toyota versions of the Lexus LS, GS and IS sold in North America although all three were formerly sold under the Toyota brand in Japan, e.g. LS = Toyota Celsior, GS = Toyota Aristo, IS = Toyota Altezza. What I meant was when there are similar models bearing the Toyota and Lexus brands, there isn't all that much difference. Material quality is usually just a little bit better in the Lexus brand vehicles and more features are available in the Lexus brand vehicles. I also meant to say that I've had better customer service experiences at Toyota dealerships than at Lexus dealerships. Why would I spend $14 for an oil filter at a Lexus dealership when I could buy the exact same filter - same part number - at a Toyota dealership for $3.85. Lexus dealership pastries in the waiting room aren't that good! Both our Lexus and Toyota brand vehicles have been very nice and mostly trouble free. We're currently on a wait list for a Lexus NX450h mainly because the similar Toyota RAV4 plug-in hybrid cannot be equipped with many of the features that are available on the Lexus NX450h, e.g. automatic leveling headlights. Sorry for the long reply. I'm kind of a "car nut".

      @@H2SO4H20so since you called yourself a car nut, maybe you can help me. I’m looking for traffic jam assist or something like it to make my 5 hour drive easier. Is there a car you recommend. I’m looking at the RX350H but im not in love with the price.

    • @H2SO4H20
      @H2SO4H20 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@saragrizzle140 That's a tall order! My understanding is that the less expensive Lexus NX also has traffic jam assist. The current NX is quite roomy and about the same size as the original RX. The new car market is still crazy on prices although the used car market has softened considerably. We've been on a wait list for a Lexus NX450h plug-in hybrid since early 2022 but haven't been offered one yet and it's especially difficult since we are rigid on color and features. If you otherwise like that RX350h, its price might not get much better in the foreseeable future. It's still pretty much a seller's market. Be aware that traffic jam assist and adaptive cruise control with lane centering usually function only on roads with well marked lanes and road edges. I suppose you could look at other vehicle brands. I'm not much of a fan of German cars based on bad experiences of long ago but these driver assist features are available on most of those. I actually disregarded my past bad experiences and bought a Porsche SUV last summer because it was fun to drive and especially because it has traffic jam assist and can essentially drive itself on highways while I still pay close attention.

    I was actually purchasing the TX 500H+ but I wanted the bench seating in the middle row. I know Lexus has their reasoning for making it more ‘luxurious’ but man atleast give us an option. Not all
    families want captain’s chair in the middle. If you are reading this Lexus (Canada) consider it please and I will buy right away. For the mean time, will look into other brands. Anyways, more power to you guys. Cheers from your fellow Vancouverite ✌🏻

      Typically, hybrid/plug in hybrid vehicles are heavier than reg combustible gas vehicles especially plug-in hybrids. This additional weight plus the extra seat and the weight allowance for that extra passenger push the vehicle weight limit too close or over maximum vehicle payload (safety issue) and also reduces fuel/battery efficiency. It's not just about the "less seats are more luxurious theory". Just passing this along, heard it many times on review comments!
