Hey Arod, I noticed that you aren’t your normal happy cheerful self in this video, it looks like you have a lot on your mind right now. I hope all is well brother. Love you man, you are the BEST !
I used to work for an upfitter. I can tell you from experience; production is more important than quality. It’s do the bare minimum to get it all installed and working. No thought is put into longevity or future failure points
Reminds me of a customer who had a fuel smell complaint on his Porsche 911. The car was equipped with an aftermarket stereo. Mounted to the trunk floor was a mondo stereo amplifier. When Mauler The Installer bolted the amplifier down he used some pretty long self tapping screws. He rammed them screws not only through the trunk floor, but also the gas tank! 🤣🤣 Always look before you leap guys.
Also, if you have a fairly smooth floor, you can squeegee most of the water out of the way before you start working, avoid getting soaked and potentially tracking water into the vehicle, etc. Always gotta be careful anyway, but I try to reduce the hazards as I go. *or have a fan blowing under the vehicle to dry the floor and the vehicle off more quickly.
Yup, outfitters always cause issue. I've seen improperly bent/mounted brake lines, to wiring routed in way that leads chaffing or breaks. Just repair some wiring that was shorting and causing the light to turn on when the brakes were applied (it was a turn signal light). Found the harness rubbing against the frame.
Aye, I’m not gonna say what upfitter or what rail road company. BUT; it was SOP to CUT the front wheel speed sensor wires and disable the DTC light. Why might you ask? Because the OEM couldn’t figure out how to make the traction control and ABS systems selectable. When the truck is on the track, the steer tires are up in the air. This creates some issues when your trying to move down the track and stoping. So the solution was to just cut 2 wires and permanently disable them
Despite the horrible up-fit, they are cool trucks that raise the box to the fuselage to provide food service to airplanes. You know whats cooler??? You!!
Bro, I’ve been working in fleet managed maintenance for a little over a yea. And I can tell you, if a truck has been up fit for a fleet, it’s going to have issues…. I see it/hear about it everyday
I have seen that happen over the years. I had the opposite problem on a couple of Jeeps. XJ and a ZJ, the factory clip/zip tie broke underneath, where it clips near the tunnel. I found the O2 wiring laying on the rear slip yoke at the transfer case. It had completed worn through and shorted out. The symptoms went on for about a month, until I found it. It was running like the cat was plugging up and the engine light would flash. It would eventually clear up and go out. Then it started shutting off and popping the ECM fuse.
Use to see all the time, especially on the 350-550’s with the utility bodies or the hy-rail up fits. Difference was, my service manager had s warranty it through Ford.
I love the IAFF union sticker, former Detroit Fire paramedic and work as a firefighter?paramedic in the suburbs now. I wish we would take our 6.7 power stork to your dealer instead of Blackwell Ford
The P/S pump is wining pretty bad, usually a hydraulic pump that is cavitating? It's sucking air, possibly through the front seal or the pickup line? Good luck, ARod.
I got one of them! Lol, busted my eye brow open when a 1/2 wrench slipped while I was “torquing” a side step. That was the day I learned to push, not pull.
Hey check out what happened to this F650/750

It takes a LOT of time to do upfits well. Most fleet customers won't pay for it. Or it's on bid. So it's as fast as possible.
When I'm done under a truck/car I use a broom to pull/push my tools and parts out

Great video! I love the big trucks and the meat wagons! Good thing you didn't have a big lunch that is a tight squeeze!

It looked like the water hose shield was rubbing on the pump belt. Just hard to see down in the dark.

Hey brother, i will be your helper any day!!! Hope all is well my dude
TBF, how many crusty green wires and component housings have we seen on perfectly stock trucks?
Did somebody do an oil change, and forget to put the cap back on the valve cover?
Whats the green spray can you got there? Pressured pump? Mineral spirits?
Brake cleaner
Is that the 7.3 Godzilla?
Yuuuup

Cavitation and aeration are to different issues. What you describe here is aeration.
Looks like you could fit a 40 in that holster. Lol
🤣
Did you diagnose the traction control?
If this is a rail road truck…. I bet it’s cut wheel speed sensor wires
