@@mellowmonsoon278 that's not true at all, what are you smoking
We have races for athletes to push each other to get better win or lose and to inspire us not to give up without a good fight regardless of odds.

And let the others fight for second.
I think that would have been disrespectful to Sydney when she was not the favorite and record holder or champ, and is now disrespectful to all racers not named Sydney who they also love.
Each one of the top three ladies has lost before and been on the top at times and they know soon so e9be new will come along even faster than them and as athing mu showed, anything can happen, and Hassan, never underestimate your opponent or the heart of a champion as each race is completely different, and these ladies will meet many more times for our enjoyment.
Every contestant pushes against all the others before them and those hey are racing against
Just. 30 seconds se9erate the top two as far as records go one is European champion one is Olympic champion.

One thing for sure....Femke has closed the gap on Sydney. And for some reason I start to believe Femke is playing hide & seek. She knows she can go faster but will save it for Paris.
Same for Sydney btw, but I've noticed for some time now Femke doesn't look really exhausted after her run compared to Sydney.
Time will tell, they both are building up tension for Paris without direct competing eachother.
Femke is on a mission, with patience, so is Sydney.
However, I think Femke will surprise herself, Sydney and the world in Paris.

I think Sydney McLaughlin's lack of racing over the last two years may be her Achille's heel. The great Ed Moses argued a few weeks ago that a lot of top hurdlers are not not racing enough and are therefore more prone to mistakes if put under pressure. Sydney is marginally quicker but could be prone to mistakes if Femke is breathing down her neck in the home straight. Shaping up for a great battle.

I wonder about the advantage of the altitude. You have 2 components: less air resistance and less oxygen. In 1968 in Mexico the winning time of the 10.000m was 29:27:40. Altitude: 2400m. A very poor time and way below the WR. Why didn't they break the WR? Explanation; less oxygen, much more important than less air resistance. Of course 400m h at 950 m is different than 10.000m at 2400m. There is a study about the prestations of middle and long distance runners. Their prestations declined with 2-4 % above 1000m and with more than 4 % above 2000m. In other words: Femke had a disadvantage and should have run 2% faster at sealevel......

her speed, endurance and timings are looking better than ever in every race she has run this year. Hence, her shaving down her World Record. If she continues to get faster or if you believe she can go faster, that's awesome! But saying she's not in the form of her life is just a straight up lie.
Eugene is also a much bigger outlier 'world record' track in the world of track and field than a simple high altitude venue especially for a race that is NOT long distance. But I personally don't think that matters. If Sydney has run both her world records there, there is no reason she can't in Paris and absolutely the same with Femke. Let's not undermine people achievements simply because we are biased towards a competitor, it's stupid.
