It's a sad commentary on the state of the world that when an athlete gives respect and credit to another, especially one from a different country, it comes as a surprise to many and it illicites criticism and ridicule. Femke obviously respects her sport, her fellow athletes, and upholds the highest values of sportsmanship and the spirit of competition. She's a true gem and was a joy to watch at the Paris Olympics.

As a person from the USA of Dutch ancestry, it's hard to root against Femke because she is so wonderful, humble, and beautiful in her athletics. It will be wonderful to root for Sydney but if Femke wins it will not be so hard to accept.

Really enjoyed these Olympic track events and it's so inspirational to see the brilliance of these athletes. Inspires me to work harder and set higher goals. So hats off to Femke, Sydney, Gabrielle and the other outstanding athletes for providing us with such joyful and exciting moments ❤️.
She reminds me of my little sister, very cute and goofy, doesn't try to look special. She has a genuine smile, talks funny, and is very frank and polite. She doesn't try to be the center of attention nor bring drama to her team. She has integrity in her training. Another thing I appreciate about her is that she isn't on any anabolics or banned substances. She continuously competes in 400 hurdles, or 400 flat, and/or relays. This means in-competition testing is a regular/consistent thing. She is, without question, physically fit, but not bulging with ridiculous roid muscles. She doesn't avoid competing to cycle off substances that are only tested for in-competition. She is very natural. There is nothing weird about her face from testosterone like you see with some of her competitors.
She, like all athletes, is subject to random testing even out of season. She doesn't have a lot of muscle because that's just her body type, similar to Dalilah. Some people have a much easier time building that muscle. She is able to race year round because for whatever genetic reasons, her connective tissue stability is off the charts.
@a2knyc Out of competition testing doesn't test for as many substances as in competition testing. During a competition, the tests are far more comprehensive. Athletes who cycle tend to take advantage of these parameters.
