Ok... Hear me out... Take one of your 30 minute food battles with the Normals going head-to-head-to-head, AND THEN get Ebbers and Kush in to do a Chef vs Chef Scraps Battle.
Yesss I want to see Kush do a scrap video
kush in a scraps video would be insanely good!!
UNDERRATED COMMENT!!!
This would be AWESOME for a live show event!
Exactly this or mayby Kush can cook what he wants and be an actual nuisance for Ebbers.
Didn't expect a full-on shanty. Nice!
Glad you liked it 😆
@@SortedFood The sea shanty was perfectly done, too!
I almost forgot there was an episode coming!!!
Arrggghhh t'was perfect!!!
@@SortedFood any chance for a copy of a full length version? We need a Sorted Food OST with songs about or by Janice, relays, pretentious ingredients, poker face 😂
All Mike I assume
I’m so happy that Mike is back in singing mode. I missed his music on the challenge. The hype for the event is real. All the best!
Yes, absolutely!
Wait I'm fairly new, was that intro Mike ? That was brilliant
@@darrendimmock6470Yep! He does all the OG songs and parodies going back years. He's brilliant!
Ben working with scraps is always amazing and informative. More, please!!
I love these too
We need to get Ebbers to work with Kush's scraps, what can a Chef do with the scraps of a Chef. It would be insane, because it would show that even chefs in professional kitchens do indeed have waste. Not a criticism, but to expand on the subject of food waste. And professional kitchens do have waste, that's a fact.
I've just done this for the longest time as like a challenge for myself, and the thing is even when I was shitfaced back when I drank I would do this and I came up with so many amazing uses for things that nobody would have thought of sober lol
Like with a little mayo and mustard and a whisk you can make a broth, even an instant ramen, feel much fuller and luxurious lol, throw in a bit of ginger from a sushi plate you had for lunch and a little pre-ground garlic from a tube and you have a legit soup.
Absolutely love these!
@lewismaddock1654
Maybe have kush do a video with scraps
That Ebbersman song single-handedly convinced me to buy the live ticket! Very well done!!
Brilliant! Will this be your first LIVE event?
@@SortedFood thankfully no, I’ve attended the last two Christmas/Winter live event as well, and I just needed that last push to get this next event’s ticket :)
That song was fantastic! @SortedFood if I can work my budget, it will be my first one. My husband and 12yo daughter all watch you guys together. (The Benuendos go over her head. 🤣)
This was so much fun. I love this format. A normal gets to show off what he's learned, and Ben gets to show off his cheffiness, and everyone is proud of each other! :)
Also AWESOME job on the sea shanty!
A win, win all round! Also, glad you love the shanty 😆
This is one of the single best performances from Jaime I think we’ve ever seen. His technique was fantastic and it’s incredible to see what he was able to do out of his comfort zone
I mean..... except for that he made a broth, made some noodles, and made some meatballs. And had already (at least attempted) to make hand pulled noodles in the past. Feel like i've seen FAR more impressive dishes from him even when he was just completely winging it without any sort of plan.
@@theElemDragonI agree. This was a nice dish that he made very well, but nothing that he did was very surprising for a "normal home cook" to do. Pulling the noodles was fairly good, but it honestly isn't that difficult to do it how Jamie did it.
Is it easy? No, but it's not exceptional.
And as always, Ben did a fantastic job of creating multiple small dishes with the (generous) amount of scraps he was given! He even made a seasoning with the peels and discarded root/vegetable ends, and added a quick lil' use for egg shells in there, too!
@@theElemDragon That seems a bit overly reductive. Kind of like saying "chopping some mushrooms, making a pancake, and wrapping some meat in puff pastry is unimpressive"?
Oh wait... that's describing making a Beef Wellington.
If you break down cooking *anything* like that, it sounds unimpressive. Snail porridge? Cook some snails, cook some porridge, blitz some herbs.
It's the seasoning, plating, and cooking (expecially proteins) that makes the difference between food, and an experience. All three of which were on full display today. Well on Jamie.
@@harmonic5107 True..... except that he made the broth in a pressure cooker with water, vegetables, and chicken. Seasoned some pork and made the paste for the meatballs which he also boiled, and boiled the pasta. The rest was just thrown-on pre-cooked additions as garnish. He basically made pork meatball ramen.
Could I have done it? I'm not a chef, and I don't even consider myself a "cook", but aside from the noodle dough ingredient ratios, It seemed simple enough to do and still come out with a half decent dish. What Ben came up with using the scraps? Not a chance I'd be able to even THINK of any of that on the fly even with the ingredients laid out in front of me.
And yes, oversimplifying cooking dishes can make them all sound trivial to make. But in the case of Beef Wellington, you also have to make sure that it's baked perfectly, otherwise you could end up with anything from nearly raw beef and barely baked pastry, to slightly overcooked beef and roofing shingle pastry.
On the other hand, pasta typically floats when it's cooked or nearly cooked. Meatballs float when they're about done when boiled. He also added those other seasonings to the meatballs... and then boiled them, which probably ended up seasoning the "porky water" he gave to Ben more than he did the meatballs he used in his dish.
@@theElemDragon you are drastically underestimating the difficulty. I'd suggest, try making just the noodles. You'll quickly find out how difficult just that step is. Too much water? They don't stretch right. Too little water, they break. The amount of water you need to add will depend on the fineness of the grind, the varietal of the grain, and your local conditions. Following a recipe may or may not work, then you have to actually have the skills to work the dough properly.
You are either underestimating your own skills if you find it easy. Or overestimating the skills of the average normal cook.
Mike, the Wiped Out promo song is excellent! The team should be really proud of that.
So proud 🥹
I have ARFID, and your channel has genuinely helped me work through so many of my issues with food, has helped me actually try new things, and has helped me just live healthier in general! I just wanted to say thank you, and you guys are amazing!!
That’s seriously amazing to hear. Here’s to trying new things! 😁
It wouldn't be SortedFood without some random commenter's seeking sympathy for their real or imagined "condition".
@@Fitzrovialitter Bruh, this is Sorted. There's no place for your toxicity in our community 😊
@@Fitzrovialitter Bro is so uneducated lmaoo. Apparently expressing gratitude = seeking sympathy. It's a real condition I've had since I was born. It came as a package deal with my autism
Jamie: I'm going to try to make biángbiáng noodles.
Me: Pauses video, makes lunch and sits down to watch the circus.
Liking just for that opening alone. Who knew these chefs and normals were fantastic shanty singers as well
Full credit goes to make for this one….. genius! 🌊
And Mike helped as well I'd imagine! ☺️😉@@SortedFood
@@SortedFoodMike’s a genius when it comes to parody songs and fun tunes. I still find myself singing all the OG ones hahaha…. Would be ecstatic if you guys do an OST playlist of all the classics like Barry and Ben being best of friends living in a cottage,😂
@@andieluke1366 Not just the parodies even his og songs are really good.. I still use wasting time as my morning alarm...
@@toni_go96hahahha the OG ones are THE BEST! ❤
That intro was straight fire!
🔥🔥🔥
This has quickly become my favorite format! It would be pretty cool for a last minute addition of this format to the live show! Bet you will have plenty of scraps and a surplus of chefs!
oh, that would be funny. left over mystery cans, random bits from the various cooking. Or if not the Live, an episode "Sorting Live leftovers" or "Sorting Live Scraps" would be fun. Make the chefs compete for the better scraps and then compete against each other's dishes.
Okay well I guess I'll just have that song stuck in my head the rest of the day/week fellas. Thanks for that.
😂
You’re welcome. Love the Ebbersman 💛
Yep. Me as well. Pity my poor coworkers catching me humming it in my office. Complete with toe tapping.
As the fishermen intended. Except the office part.
i really love these scrap challenges, For the future i would like to see Ben go in completely blind. Jamie cooks his dish and then later ben shows up and cooks with whatever is left there without having time to prepare
The intro song is everything 🥰🤣
So glad you liked it 💛
i sing it at work 🤣 @@SortedFood
I'd love to see a Scraps themed Pass it On. First the normals have to go through a Pass it On, but after it is completed the Chefs then need to take the scraps from the normals and use that as the basis for their Pass it On.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads on the team!
Thank you ☺️
And the single mum's playing both parts 👍 And Yes, I will say the same on mothers day!!
I am one of them!
OMG I literally screamed nooooo when I saw J just garnished the noodles with raw lap cheong ("wind" sausage) and "uncooked" tofu puffs. 😮🙈
Lap Cheong is raw and needs to be cooked and the tofu puffs can be eaten out of the packet because they're technically cooked by frying in the factory, but they'll be chewy and dry AF if you don't boil/simmer them. Hence why they're normally dropped into hotpots or soup bases to boil for a bit to let them soak up all the goodness and rehydrate.
But otherwise, fantastic to see what you can do with scraps to avoid food waste, especially want to taste that egg custard.
same 😂
OMG yes! I came straight to the comments for that! 😱
😂 I was wondering if he’d cook it when he said garnish…
The leftover steam joke was the funniest shit I've seen all week! xD
Hey my city is in an water shortage right now. We pray for left over steam ( ;) but also water main breaks are tricky)
@@jessicazaytsoff1494 That's rough! I hope things will get better for you all soon!
Hahaha love it 😆
@@jessicazaytsoff1494Been watching that story from BC west coast with concern and sympathy - hoping it gets fixed really soon and that no other workers get hurt!
The Ebbersman song is absolutely fantasitc !
Also Barrys T-Shirt :-). And Ben wearing a chefs jacket even when being stranded......
So glad you like it 😁
It's so easy to forget that Mike was the musician for the show back in the day, and then he just casually reminds us with a Sea Shanty.
He’s a little creative genius 🎶
This format has been so helpful for me as I’m trying to learn to reduce my family of five’s food waste. I made a pesto from the outside of a cauliflower I used for a previous meal, inspired by one of your videos. My teenagers were shocked they loved it so much. Please keep these videos coming!
That song needs to be made into a ringtone!😂 on the other hand, love this series!
Love it
I'm Danish living in Portugal, and I can honestly tell you that the rest of Europe's thoughts about the English kitchen are not very high. My respect and admiration for English chefs have now risen dramatically because of you, Ebbers! I love your show! ❤
Everything I would expect from Ebbers, he's defiantly one of the best chefs on You Tube right now. But Jamie has come so far from where you guys started, I'm truly impressed mate. Next time you should put Barry in the "Chef" seat since he's won the red apron!
We need a full on video for the shanty that is amazing!
Are you tuning in to the LIVE?
@@SortedFood Oooh Now I'm more excited about it...
@@SortedFoodif you promise that you’ll do a live sea shanty during the live show I’ll buy a ticket immediately! 😄
I love this format. One of my favorite series is the chef versus normals grocery challenge, but this one makes the chef improvise just as much as the normals, and it really helps me think through what I can do with my own leftovers and extra bits.
Good lord, that shanty is amazing. I'm going to like and save for that alone. I'm sensing the hand of Mike. I still remember his Disney episode fondly. That said, Jamie has a good bass, if he can focus long enough to carry the part.
I really love this format! We get to see a normal planning and cooking (fairly) confidently with a recipe of their choice, then Ben comes in, works some chefy magic (always impressive to watch), and combined I think it's one of my favorite things. Great job to everyone involved!
Absolutely love the Sea Shanty - well done Mike. Love this format of using up the scraps; especially that dried seasoning.
Showing the meal made with what would been tossed _in the bin_ is pure *_skill!_*
I loved seeing that.
Almost nothing Ben used would have been tossed in the bin, though. Eggs would go in the fridge as would all the meat. Won ton wrappers would have gone in the fridge or back in the freezer. The only thing Ben 'saved' from the waste is the stuff out of the InstantPot and aromatics - even then, most of the ginger would have been saved for another day as it lasts a long time. Likely the same with garlic, but I didn't see if Ben used any whole cloves or not. Having to purchase more than you need because it comes pre-packaged is a real problem and does contribute to food waste, but it does not instantly make the extra food 'scraps'. It was a real cop-out for Ben to use them as such in the video.
Glad you enjoyed this episode 😁
@@chandrawong449 On one hand, it IS technically a cop-out, I agree with you on that. On the other hand, there's not a whole lot of scraps that Jamie left him. Some chicken from the wings and a bunch of aromatics. It's not going to make for much good content if Ben auto-fails the challenge because of that.
Besides, the purpose of these videos is to get the audience rethinking how they can use scraps, and whatever Ben did definitely achieved that.
Sometimes we forget how talented Mike is. Great intro!
This is my favourite format, for so many reasons. Ebbers is a genius.
Love how Ebbers was completely unenthused by Jamie's pork mixture, but delighted by 'porky water' - 09:50
Ben smashed it, the broth of any ingredient holds everything. Let it be veg or chicken or any ingredient's broth, once you boil it and strain it has all the nutrients are in the broth which creates the flavor and taste.
A blindfolded shopping market challenge for best dish would be a fun format. No help just a guide stick & a tiny basket^_^
This was impressive. Jamie did a really great job, and seeing Ben figure out things to do with scraps was very inspiring.
Ooo love this idea! A challenge and recycled and potentially tips on things we can do to use up food scraps too. Win win win!
Absolutely love the focus on using up scraps. Would be interested to see it folded into a shopping challenge as well :)
It all looks so delicious!! As always Ebbers is most IMPRESSIVE!! I loved this video. Can't imagine a better way to show how to use up cooking leftovers. More of these type of videos please.
I love how there setting up Washed Up to be all Ebbers' fault.
Saving the steam hits hard right now. In Calgary we are on a 4 week water ban due to a major water pipe burst. Saving all shower water, pasta water, dish water to water our plants.
Okay YES to the song 🎵 😊
Given how Jamie has been wowing us for a while, I’m not surprised he’s being ambitious. Also, love watching someone make noodles after eating noodles for dinner lol
The creativity is glorious. How do we get Kush into this mix as well? Get Ben and Kush going head to head over scraps from a prior challenge?
I’m not saying this format is bad, I’m just in the mood to see Kush going full gremlin while trying to look innocent. Again. Some more. Lol
NGL, this is my fav content on the channel rn. I love the Food Scrap Challanges, more more more please
That sea shanty was brilliant!
(886) REALLY impressed. Got my husband addicted to watching this channel. So impressive with how Jamie has really learned how to "lean in" to his ever-expanding cooking skills. People who learn to cook tend to become so enamored by their successes the failures become a lesson learned and fade into the past. BRAVO; love these.
886?
@@TedBarton91 Yep. Think about it.
Ben really dialled up the drama with “last time it was a bit easy.” WOOOOOOOO OFF TO THE RACES
you are fully aware that you can just actually wait to comment once on a video once you've watched all of it and combine all your thoughts instead of outright spamming a comment section, right
@@supremeheroism7524 If I did that, I’d just go to Medium. In any case, if I combined my thoughts, it’d be an essay no one would read
@@PokhrajRoy. perhaps that is the way it should be :)
These scrap videos are so fun. It gets to show the "normals" making really cool and challenging dishes without having to worry about wastage and the chefs show what you can do with very little. So cool!!

Love the shanty - brilliant
Love the look on Ben's face in the thumbnail
That Sea chanty was everything guys! Thanks! It was fire🔥🔥🔥🔥
And THIS is why Ebbers is a professional!

Scraps to Riches has quickly become my new favourite format, I was so happy when I saw it's one of these today! And a brilliant Ebbersman shanty on top of that 😁
I'm enjoying how much fun you are having with the live event ads. 🥰
Not normally a huge fan of the PPV show ads because I'm envious that I can't afford them, but the start of this video was absolutely awesome. Is it Mike that did the main vocals?
Indeed. Written and performed by Mike himself 😁

I shall be watching this after Slovenia VS Denmark and before England VS Serbia. IT’S COMING HOME
What a day huh! Enjoy 😁
Yay another scraps video!!
Feels like ages since I've seen cooking here!
Sorted Shanty is what the world needed
So happy to see the Scraps to Riches back!! I love this format, and I would absolutely LOVE to see Kush give this a go!
I'm sad that I really can't afford to watch the live event, but the sea shanty and all the other things you guys have come up with to promote it have been so much fun to see!!
Fantastic song to end Father’s Day here. Cheers to the Sorted Team!
That was a great promo guys!
the dried vegetable scraps used as seasoning is my favourite, definitely will try at home. Would be interesting to see what chef can make out of scraps from dishes made by another chef, rather than normal.
I would really love if you showed a kind of dedication to engaging more with veggie community members. I’ve been watching for years but it’s not all that often I get to watch you guys make a recipe I can actually make myself. Especially given the sustainability side, it would be great to see some kind of pledge, like a veggie dish for every meat dish?
Jamie is WILDLY ambitious today 😮
And pulled it off wonderfully in my opinion
YES! Love this type of format! ❤
That "Sorted Shanty" is just the SEAsoning my little pirate heart needed today!! 👏🏽 Bravo Mike!
🍜Those are some epic "noods" Jamie! Thank you for sharing your tekkers with us. Ben, that was simply a stunning show of your culinarily creative, quick witt, and a delightfully authentic, nod toward toward sustainability.
Much love and appreciation for the time you all spend ❤
yes please, more of these. It's neat to see what can be done with scraps/leftovers
Interesting perspective, got me thinking!
Happy father's day to all the dads in the sorted team and to all your fathers too🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Jamie was too nice passing on that steam, literally invaluable
Mike's songs are not just the best advertisements ever, they're some of the best content on the internet. I thought nothing would ever come close to the joy, the warmth, the sheer passion for life Come See The Bells (These Silly Bells) brings to my heart, and now i have been blessed with this instant classic.
Idea for a video: Macdonald's Ingredients ONLY Battle | But can a Chef Tell?
Feed it to Ben. He refused to eat Big Mac, he must pay 😤
Quote of the Day: “Such a tease. Such a tease.”
I'm partial to, "You already have my balls, do you want my sausage as well?"
Would we love a full shanty version? Hell yes!!! ❤❤
Seeing Ben create masterpices out of genuine scraps really makes me appreciate chefs and cooking, cooking is 100% an art form and Ben really is an artist
Suggestion guys: Make a battle in which only you can use Macdonalds staples then feed the resulting dish to an unawarw ebbers😂😂😂😂
Scraps to riches doesn't roll of the tongue, here are a couple of alternative ideas...
Remnants to riches
Offcuts to opulence
Was not prepared for a shanty opening, chuffed to bits!
I don't know if the eggshells keeping away slugs, but grinding them up and scattering them in your garden is good for putting nutrients back into the soil.
Win, win with eggshells!
These vids are always so helpful in the kitchen!
I think a side series of Ben’s allotment would be cool, from allotment to plate
Famous Last Words: “I doubt he’s going to use six eggs.”
This is Jamie ‘I Measure Only In Portions’ Spafford we’re talking about
19:15 Ben did a brilliant job as always and Jamie wowed us yet again.
Also, Try the Scrap challenge with one of the crew
the amount of production that goes just into the promotional materials for the epic live stream extravaganzas is always a pleasure to witness
Ben is really a great educator. I have been growing fonder of him over the years. I think he has really found his calling
How about giving the leftovers to a normal? That sounds interesting
all the promo posters and artwork and the intro shanty are absolutely amazing! they've got so much heart in them, keep up the work and thank you for all your wonderful content!
So nice to see Jamie and Ben being full on creative! I appreciate when it isn’t all race and competition. Hope to see this become a regular feature!
Love this challenge!! I want Kush to do one following Jamie now! Then Ben following another normal and so on!! Most fun!

I wanna see Kush do a scraps challenge. It would be super interesting to see a chef vs chef’s scraps challenge; where Kush uses Ebbers scraps.
