I saw someone suggest I try this challenge in the new game, and I thought it would be a fun throwback! I'm going to try to cycle between doing builds and campaign challenges for the next few videos, so if you have any ideas leave them below!
Could you perhaps try beating the game with fully self-destructing bridges? (i.e. every bridge you build has to be fully destroyed by the end of the level)
When the car hit the foundation for the first time, I realized that foundation was a collision object and could be used as a road substitute. Very satisfying to see it be the final solution! Though, I bet that makes some levels into 0 roads necessary.
I feel like a Roberts linkage might be better suited for bridges than the Grasshopper/Evans linkage you always use. It doesn't create a perfect straight line, but it only requires attachments on the ends of the line, no towers required.
@@ReidCaptain I know that probably makes you sad, but I love avoiding hydraulics so much. Also that last level is a really fun solve with the hydraulic only bridge
I got one last idea on Poly Bridge 2. The way it works is you have unbreakable mode on,but you can't use supports. Non-hydraulic levels would be a bit easy,so maybe just the levels that require hydraulics.(it's idea-o-clock)
I definitely want to see you try this on more levels. I'd also love to see you challege RCE to this on each level you succeed on. That should be quite the entertaining series.
Personally to do Back to Foundations, I would have added the hydraulic controller to the level for split joints as well as some checkpoints to make a series of linkages that carry the road straight across and drop it off with the next one in line
So, the next challenge: can you beat poly bridge 3 using one bridge? (And by one bridge i mean the same bridge design for every level). I understand, that this raw is actually impossible, but you can, for example, add a lot of hydraulic phases to every level and a hydraulic controller; so each new level the bridge will look the same, but different hydraulics will be activated and change the bridge for this level
I would call that last one the Dutch approach - just dredging up a bunch of land instead of building a bridge - but I guess they're kinda known for bridges too. Huh. Personally I thought you'd put a bunch of foundations and use them as attachment points for a piston walking machine of some sort, but in hindsight I'm not sure it that actually would have been possible. Idk how hydraulic phases work
One thing I like about the challenges is that I can get away from the traditional ruleset the game has and do my own thing, but if it fits the challenge I could consider keeping one of those
Please, for the love of all that is holy, just say "steel diamonds". "Diamond pieces of steel" is a completely unnecessary mouthful Other then my everpresent nitpicking, love your content

Challenge Idea:
Only use steel (and roads of course) but you have to stay in budget
Hi
@@connormorley5256 Great challenge idea lol,
IDEA, poly bridge but every road/steel etc is rotated 45* or as small as possible
Idea, Poly bridge but I’m to lazy to think of ideas for videos, jk Idea Poly bridge but I’m playing YOUR levels
A very relatable scenario for all civil engineers, when you have infinite steel but only 2 meters worth of tarmac/concrete
Relateable? Ha-ha ...
Wait, that means we still get paid tho, r- right?
...
Right guys?
@@xtremelymoderate829your wage was donated to the road charity foundation
Man, I hate it when that happens.
@@mattery5434 Yeah, I know
man poly 3 came out quick

14:23 ah yes. the 1M dollar bridge only using one road. truly a feat of bridge creation
Almost half the bridge concepts broke one million
@@stoopud_purson6737 ok so? for once i get a good comment with lots of likes and then someone comes along like "uhm achtually"🤓

Shaking and crying after finding out that multiple road pieces were in fact used in this video
Listen here you little sh-
Just take the road from the previous levels and reuse it!
They stole the road from the other bridge and used that
This was posted an hour before the video went up ?!
@@assassinunknown6664 now im shaking and crying for all the bridges that got their road stolen
It's extra fun thinking about how that last bridge went from no foundation to ALL foundation.
Could you perhaps try beating the game with fully self-destructing bridges? (i.e. every bridge you build has to be fully destroyed by the end of the level)
Obliteration!!!
A bridge that doubles as a power shovel excavator. Truly a marvelous design
i guess all the foundations Reid saved in the last video got used here. all balanced out in the end LOL
Had to stock em up
When the car hit the foundation for the first time, I realized that foundation was a collision object and could be used as a road substitute. Very satisfying to see it be the final solution! Though, I bet that makes some levels into 0 roads necessary.
1:06 "The problem, though, is I just couldn't get this weak enough here..."
Sounds more like a flex than a problem
I feel like a Roberts linkage might be better suited for bridges than the Grasshopper/Evans linkage you always use. It doesn't create a perfect straight line, but it only requires attachments on the ends of the line, no towers required.
Yeah perhaps, I don't like it since its a little more annoying to get the geometry right with but I should look into it more
Awesome idea, especially how you avoided using hydraulics as well.
I tried to find a level with some hydros that fit the challenge well, but nothing really spoke to me
@@ReidCaptain I know that probably makes you sad, but I love avoiding hydraulics so much. Also that last level is a really fun solve with the hydraulic only bridge
i know that the longer materials weighing more makes sense, but coming from PB2 it just feels so weird
These videos are what brought me to your channel and added a sub well done, excellent work 👍
i'm watching nile red playing poly bridge! haha, You do really sound and talk the way he does, great vid loving your content
Hey Reid! What was the inspiration for your channel name?
Also, if there was none, what is your favourite building game so far?
I got one last idea on Poly Bridge 2. The way it works is you have unbreakable mode on,but you can't use supports. Non-hydraulic levels would be a bit easy,so maybe just the levels that require hydraulics.(it's idea-o-clock)
So you mean unbreaking but road only?
@@Fogolol I thought he meant you couldn't attach to static nodes.
@@GhostGlitch. honestly you could be right, i don't know exactly what the original comment meant which is why i asked

Idk how hydraulic phases work
that wouldnt work in the level, but in a custom level it would. hydraulic phases only trigger hydraulics once
-Honey it's 3AM, what are you watching?
-Well you see there's this bridge game and...
This guy really sounds like Nilered
Bro, your last solution was not cheesy, it's clever, and it delivers your promise
It needs the ability to paint pieces so you can color code overlapping structures.
i think it would be a good idea to do one of these challenge videos (vehicles, one road, etc) but within budget and/or no breaks
One thing I like about the challenges is that I can get away from the traditional ruleset the game has and do my own thing, but if it fits the challenge I could consider keeping one of those

5:17 What is your definition of "a bit of reinforcing" THATS LIKE 50K WORTH OF STEEL

wOo finally! this is what i was waiting for
you should do a only one static node per level challenge.
In stead of mining straight down this man built straight up
These are the “bridges” I see in my dreams
Now beat poly bridge 3 without any rope, wood, cable, steel, foundation and hydraulics and no triangles with road
Been watching you for a while now, just realized you have the same speech patterns of NileRed. Anyone else notice that? Keep up the great videos!
I noticed this, along with you and 10 others in the comment section of this video alone haha
Counterweights reminding me heavily of Fantastic Contraption in this one!

Oh my god. The return.
Next video: "Can we beat poly bridge 3 with only foundation?"
my brain thinking the cars can drive on foundations: 🧠 and then finishing watching the vid: BUT HE DID THINK OF THAT
I didn’t even know that poly bridge 3 existed
It doesn't have to be good, it just has to be good enough for government work, which is, admittedly, not good.
hey uh where can i get this game?
You seem like more of an engineer than RCE 😂
Next do can you beat polybridge using only foundation for roads
6:08 Can't you just make the car drive on a bunch of foundations?
